So, did you actually get any trick or treaters last night?

After being adamant we weren’t going to open the door, it wasn’t necessary anyway as no one knocked!

Usually we get quite a few children knocking, so I was surprised.

Either they only knocked on houses with pumpkins (something we all do around here), or there genuinely wasn’t anyone out last night.

How about you?

We had one.

happymummy12345 · 01/11/2020 14:05

No, was glad because I hate it and don't agree with it anyway so I always ignore them.

DaisyDreaming · 01/11/2020 14:13

I actually hope the pumpkin trail becomes more popular rather than trick or treating in future years

No, everyone did the right thing and kept safe in my area thankfully. We had an amazing Halloween indoors and dc still had a blast.

'I actually hope the pumpkin trail becomes more popular rather than trick or treating in future years'.

Yes such a lovely idea

No, although we decorated for pumpkin trail and saw some children walk past with their parents to look at the pumpkins. Normally we have at least 15 groups knocking and every house all around is lit and decorated

I had a quick look round area to see if it was worth us taking our toddler out for pumpkin trail and found the odd house with pumpkins so we took her out and gave her a sweet when we saw each one. A couple had pegged sweets out which was nice, and one house weren't giving sweets but were looking out of the window and calling out Happy Halloween to those passing by in costumes

Very surreal though as usually so popular, people are being very sensible here (and we're tier 1 with low numbers)

Normandy144 · 01/11/2020 14:20

We decorated and had lots of people stop by the house to look but no one knocked for treats. It seemed to be an unwritten rule this year. It was still a lovely community feel but not as good as normal years as a lot of houses didn't decorate. It's a shame but I suppose some people felt uncomfortable with it. We went for a walk and I took treats for my children.

DinosApple · 01/11/2020 14:27

We did a spooky walk, but there wasn't many others out. No knocking.

On the village FB page the idea was a walk and if you spotted a pumpkin you give your own child a sweet.

We're tier 1 though so did have an extra kid round to us, she's in DD2s bubble and her sister is in mine at school.

billybagpuss · 01/11/2020 14:35

It was pretty quiet here, usually it’s very busy we are in a cul de sac of large houses and usually they come pouring out of minibuses which really irritates me. So I loved this year, I made up little goody bags for the kids in the street and took them round. Then shut the door on it. We did have one knock which we ignored.

pineapplepalmtree · 01/11/2020 14:37

8 or 9 families came to ours but we were refilling bucket with sweets on the driveway every half an hour so people didn't need to knock.

NotYouAgainTom · 01/11/2020 14:38

I think we had two. I left out sweets and decorated a bit.

EternalOptimist7 · 01/11/2020 14:40

No but then we don’t normally get many at all. Last year was just DD & her friends.

ImFree2doasiwant · 01/11/2020 14:41

We went out for a pumpkin spotting walk, and our own supply of treats. Didn't see many others out, the village is usually really busy with a great atmosphere.

hopeishere · 01/11/2020 14:45

Yes - but just one group. We usually get loads. I really love it.

ThomasHardyPerennial · 01/11/2020 14:45

No knocks, but someone left a small bag of sweets on my front step Grin.

ItsNotPinkItsSalmon · 01/11/2020 14:48

No.
We did a pumpkin trail so if you saw a pumpkin you'd put a sweet in your child's tub.
It was quite sad really the streets are usually fully of trick or treaters and there was only a handful Sad

Blibbyblobby · 01/11/2020 14:56

We had a few. I decorated the house and sat outside with a box of sweets and tongs to hand them out. But it was less than 10% of the number we’d usually get.

Drogonssmile · 01/11/2020 15:00

We stood outside (in the freezing cold!) for an hour and a half. It wasn't raining and there were a few adults with kids dressed up just walking around seeing if there were any sweets out. It was quite nice really meeting up socially distanced outside. The kids liked it and weren't totally bored and cooped up inside so it was a bit of a compromise. We had a tub of sweets next to our pumpkin which kids could take from if they wanted to.

picosandsancerre · 01/11/2020 15:03

Only a handful of houses decorated this year and it is very full on where I live for Halloween. So quite a contrasts folks placed pumpkins by the gate and left sweets in a tub. I did the same and left some hand gel by the tub.

lockdownconfused · 01/11/2020 15:14

None here but we are in wales and it has been publicised that trick and treat was a no this year. We did put pumpkin pictures up in the window incase anyone was taking their children on a pumpkin walk.

SeasonallySnowyPeasant · 01/11/2020 15:18

One lot and that was it. We usually get loads and are out ourselves.

Hiccupiscal · 01/11/2020 15:23

I decorated, and did a pick your own sweets pumpkin.

One family came. Didnt knock, and I went to the door and said hello (distanced).

Put my pick your own sweets on OLIO and a 2 more people came, but that was all

Absolutely gutted. I love halloween!

BreakfastOfWaffles · 01/11/2020 15:26

Yes, but we live in an area full of young-ish families. Lots of people did great decorations, some put sweets out on their driveways and hedges. Small family groups walking round enjoying the decorations and taking one sweet each in a socially distanced manner. Everyone had a fun evening, albeit more muted than normal.

JasmineJasmine · 01/11/2020 20:57

Only one, 2 mums and their 5 children around 7:30.
I was in kitchen and my son went to the door.
No masks, all of them.
A mum shouted loudly, hello, nice to see you, so on and so on.
They were actually my friends.
I was somehow paralysed and couldn't move. I couldn't even answer.
A mum believes the conspiracy theory, another mum should believe more or less.
2 of them(and children) ignored the first lockdown.
I don't think they will follow 2nd lockdown.

They used to be really good friends of mine, but now I don't know who they are. Sad....
I think these type of people spread virus
