How are you staying warm if WFH? Currently have blanket over my knees (wearing leggings) top half:t shirt, denim shirt, thick hoodie, fingerless gloves, scarf and woolly hat! DP won't countenance heating on through the day yet and I don't think I can confortably wear any more clothes!

Fuck that for a game of soldiers.

Findahouse21 · 27/10/2020 13:32

I find leggings absolutely terrible for keeping me warm. I think you need more on your bottom half

Bluntness100 · 27/10/2020 13:32

Why is it his decision? I can’t imagine wearing a hat and gloves in my own home ans would imagine that situation only occurs when you can’t afford to heat your home and are in poverty.

If this is you can’t afford to heat it that’s one thing, but if this is he’s just an arse then put the heating on for goodness sake.

Yeah, leggings aren't enough. Get yourself some thermals - long legs, long sleeves - and add them to everything else. They're nice and thin but make a huge difference.

"DP won't countenance heating on through the day yet "

It would help if you didn't live with a fxxcking knob!

I've worked at home happily since the start of covid. With the heating on whenever I want.

Smile3 · 27/10/2020 13:35

Light some candles, warms the room up Grin

TerrifiedandWorried · 27/10/2020 13:37

Hot water bottle under your feet or on your lap.

Crunchymum · 27/10/2020 13:39

I've invested in a portable radiator.

It means I can heat up the room I'm in without putting the heating on.

If I was cold enough for a scarf, gloves and a hat then the heating would be on though!!!

cakeandchampagne · 27/10/2020 13:42

Turn the heat on.

Lilac95 · 27/10/2020 13:45

I’m just like you, but I’ve been putting the heating on for an hour in the morning or when it’s freezing to take the chill off. You’re saving money wfh etc so stuff him put the heating on

Scarby9 · 27/10/2020 13:45

Is DP also working from home? What is s/he wearing?
If DP is not at home, but in a warm office or other workplace, then DP gets little say.
If TP is at home wearing a T shirt and shorts, you need a further chat about incompatible body temperatures.

cushioncovers · 27/10/2020 13:47

Just turn the heating on

OverTheRainbowLiesOz · 27/10/2020 13:47

Buy an electric throw. Lakeland sell nice ones. Place it where you sit, mines on the sofa. Sit on it rather than having it over you. It is amazing! Like having a heated seat in a car.

Goldyyy · 27/10/2020 13:53

I find just putting the heating on for an hour at the beginning of the day and then turning off helps so much - when you allow yourself to get cold it's so much harder to warm up later on.

Coldwinterahead1 · 27/10/2020 13:54

Why is it your husband decision?

toomuchfaster · 27/10/2020 13:55

I had stupid night storage heaters that were cold by the time I got home from work so I used to sit in a sleeping bag up to my middle over jogging bottoms and slippers. I then would layer several thin tops under a hoodie. I would wear fingerless gloves and a woolly hat. What I also found helpful was getting up and walking round every half hour or so. Getting a hot drink, going to the loo and fighting my way out and in the sleeping bag warmed me up.

Ghostlyglow · 27/10/2020 14:01

Why have I never heard of electric throws?! That sounds like a plan.

just turn the heating on!

HaudMaDug · 27/10/2020 14:16

I've got the ironing board out as a standing desk and currently working in front of a fabulous roaring fire. 🔥

soffiee · 27/10/2020 14:20

Wear one of those thick robes that are long and wear your hoody inside. Also, if you have tracksuit bottoms, wear that instead of your leggings as they won't keep you warm. You can also wear those woolly socks and nice slippers, you won't need the heating on until it's Baltic outside.

vanillandhoney · 27/10/2020 14:22

I wouldn't be told I couldn't have the heating on in my own home. Fuck that shit.

Graffitiqueen · 27/10/2020 14:25

ive just invested in a heated throw. It's amazing!

pinkbalconyrailing · 27/10/2020 14:25

DP won't countenance heating on through the day yet and I don't think I can confortably wear any more clothes!

why does"d"p get a say in that?

but anyway, I am in a drafty attic office and have a scarf, pashmina round the shoulders, thick wool blanket on my lap and a hot water bottle on my feet.
