A Kinder surprise I really don't need

KinderSurpriseIndeed · 26/10/2020 16:00

The kids bought Kinder eggs with their pocket money yesterday. They usually have a merry ol time making the toys inside. Now, some toys are designed to be used with an app - you scan the QR code and the downloaded app makes the useless piece of plastic kinder surprise toy come to life AR (augmented reality) style, it becomes a character in the games on the app and you can use the phone's camera to take pictures of the AR character in your room or to take selfies.

So my kids were having a whale of a time making the cartoon giraffe stand in different parts of the living room, changing its size from giant to teeny tiny. I could hear them squealing with laughter from the next room. Great app. Such fun.

This app stores all the photos and also adds them to your gallery. Kids are loving it. I can hear them laughing. Maybe I can share a nice one with grandma later.

Then they come running to show me their pictures. What did they take pictures of?

My 5 year old daughter's bumhole.

FFS!! I can delete the pictures from my gallery, but NOT THE APP.
Shock

please tell me this doesn't send some sort of 'indecent images' alert to Ferrero HQ and I have the police knocking on my door collecting up all my electronics for forensic analysis. I need my laptop for work.
Confused

On the plus side, this became an opportune moment to sit the kids down and have a little talk about 'private areas' and not taking pictures.

That’s shocking to hear. I think you should contact kinder about this.

Isadora2007 · 26/10/2020 16:15

😂 in sorry but that’s actually hilarious...

BorisandHarriet · 26/10/2020 16:19

So can other people on the app see any photos your kids take?

TheYearOfSmallThings · 26/10/2020 16:20

That’s shocking to hear. I think you should contact kinder about this.

To warn them?

FallonsTeaRoom · 26/10/2020 16:20

Delete the app and download it again.

VodselForDinner · 26/10/2020 16:22

“Hello Kinder? I need you to pass me through to the Head of your Bumhole Department ASAP”.
ManiacalMumsnet · 26/10/2020 16:23

Thanks for the reports about this one - we've had a look behind the scenes and the OP has been on the site for ages without any concerns. We'll let it run for now.

Summerfreeze · 26/10/2020 16:31

This isn't a funny idea for a thread. Your children made an illegal image. It's scary to me that they thought this was ok and it's horrible that you'd post about your daughter being violated. Just not ok at all.

Rainbowllama4 · 26/10/2020 16:32

😂😂

scoobydoo1971 · 26/10/2020 16:32

It will be a 'surprise' for Kinder...perhaps it is time for a gentle chat about the dark side of technology.

BuffayTheVampireLayer · 26/10/2020 16:35

Title sounds like a headline.

QuantamBaby · 26/10/2020 16:36

Oh good grief, I guess the crucial question is Does the App share the photos anywhere? If you delete the app would it delete all data permanently? Is there a help number on the kinder site that could tell you?

QuantamBaby · 26/10/2020 16:38

The address to ask technical questions is mailto:[email protected]

nimbuscloud · 26/10/2020 16:41

How old was the kid who took the photo??

SpookyNoise · 26/10/2020 16:44

Oh dear. I’d be concerned about the images being shared by the app.

Sparklfairy · 26/10/2020 16:52

Wow. I mean, Kinder Surprise is designed for kids so this sort of thing must happen all the time. I'd need to find out what their policy is on data being stored on their servers (what if they were hacked and the image shared on the dark web for instance?) and how to remove it from everywhere, permanently, asap.

Possibly no more unsupervised access to technology for a while OP.

Just looking at their t&cs is worrying:

Please be informed that any User Generated Content that you send, post, submit or transmit may become publicly accessible (in association with your name, user name, town, country and/ or your picture, if applicable) and is and will be deemed and treated as non-confidential and non-proprietary by Ferrero. Such User Generated Content, upon being transmitted to Ferrero, shall immediately become the property of Ferrero and Ferrero shall exclusively now and hereinafter own all rights, title, and interest therein (subject to any third-party rights). Furthermore, Ferrero and its affiliates, shall be free to use such User Generated Content, without restriction, WITHOUT COMPENSATION, OTHER OBLIGATION OR ANY OTHER LIABILITY TO YOU, for any purpose whatsoever

So basically they own and can do what they like with images created by your kids.

I seriously doubt it.

I don't know. I've known a few kids in my time that would have done some questionable things that they thought were funny mostly getting their willies out

ThatGhastlyWoman · 26/10/2020 17:19

That clause is boiler plate standard corporate speak. Essentially, they can use your stuff to market Kinder on the cheap.

Any company, or sane person, could not delete that kind of picture enough. Can you imagine the shit storm they would be in the middle of if they didn't? You should contact them ASAP to alert them to the issue.

Bloody Hell.
lilfoxfur · 26/10/2020 19:02

Oh ffs is nothing funny to anyone anymore?!

Tbh I doubt you can even tell it's a butthole it probably just looks like a blurry image.

I thought it was amusing op however yeah I think it's time to have a chat about not uploading pictures of ones private parts on the internet 😂

DC3Dakota · 26/10/2020 19:19

I cannot believe some people reported this thread.......... What exactly were they thinking OP's game is?!

MissSmiley · 26/10/2020 19:46

They aren't really going to use your kids "image" to market their product though are they

Hilarious 😆
