A Kinder surprise I really don't need

KinderSurpriseIndeed · 26/10/2020 16:00

The kids bought Kinder eggs with their pocket money yesterday. They usually have a merry ol time making the toys inside. Now, some toys are designed to be used with an app - you scan the QR code and the downloaded app makes the useless piece of plastic kinder surprise toy come to life AR (augmented reality) style, it becomes a character in the games on the app and you can use the phone's camera to take pictures of the AR character in your room or to take selfies.

So my kids were having a whale of a time making the cartoon giraffe stand in different parts of the living room, changing its size from giant to teeny tiny. I could hear them squealing with laughter from the next room. Great app. Such fun.

This app stores all the photos and also adds them to your gallery. Kids are loving it. I can hear them laughing. Maybe I can share a nice one with grandma later.

Then they come running to show me their pictures. What did they take pictures of?

My 5 year old daughter's bumhole.

FFS!! I can delete the pictures from my gallery, but NOT THE APP.
Shock

please tell me this doesn't send some sort of 'indecent images' alert to Ferrero HQ and I have the police knocking on my door collecting up all my electronics for forensic analysis. I need my laptop for work.
Confused

On the plus side, this became an opportune moment to sit the kids down and have a little talk about 'private areas' and not taking pictures.

OP posts:

My mouth fell open when I read this, and then I laughed! I'd be mortified too op.

MustardMitt · 26/10/2020 20:14

@Summerfreeze why do you jump to the daughter being violated? OP doesn’t say, I also have kids who’ve done daft shit like this and they would absolutely come up with the idea and offer up their own bum hole. Hopefully I would intervene before an AR giraffe was photographed on it though....

Summerfreeze · 26/10/2020 20:16

Because older kids taking photos of a younger kid’s privates isn’t funny. It’s disturbing that they even thought to do it.

ImFree2doasiwant · 26/10/2020 20:20

Exactly the sort of stunt my 2 would do. They are both boys, 3 and 5, and the youngest is obsessed with willies and bums.

m0therofdragons · 26/10/2020 20:38

I don’t think they’ll be using that image in their advertising campaign!

I once walked in on dd3 filming dd2 doing naked roly polys on my work phone. I tried to delete but there’s a chance it is in a cloud somewhere.

MonicaBelulaGellar · 26/10/2020 20:47

I dont know what a funnier, the bumhole or the fact grown adults have reported this 🤣🤣🤣

It's siblings mucking about!

Why does everything have to have sinister undertones?!

wizzbangfizz · 26/10/2020 20:55

Oh my god in crying with laughter

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 26/10/2020 20:59

People report these kinds of threads because there are trolls who come on here and invite stories about things such as naked pictures of children being taken and they get off on it. No harm in checking it isn't a new user trying to get people to share stories.

raddledoldmisanthropist · 26/10/2020 21:22

Well I owe my 6 year old an apology. She was going on and on about someone's bum being voted number one on Kinder showreel and I just told her not to be silly.

UsernameN0Tavailable · 26/10/2020 21:29

@loutypips

Just looking at their t&cs is worrying:

Please be informed that any User Generated Content that you send, post, submit or transmit may become publicly accessible (in association with your name, user name, town, country and/ or your picture, if applicable) and is and will be deemed and treated as non-confidential and non-proprietary by Ferrero. Such User Generated Content, upon being transmitted to Ferrero, shall immediately become the property of Ferrero and Ferrero shall exclusively now and hereinafter own all rights, title, and interest therein (subject to any third-party rights). Furthermore, Ferrero and its affiliates, shall be free to use such User Generated Content, without restriction, WITHOUT COMPENSATION, OTHER OBLIGATION OR ANY OTHER LIABILITY TO YOU, for any purpose whatsoever

So basically they own and can do what they like with images created by your kids.

This is standard Ts and Cs for any UGC. It basically means it gives them permission to use your nice pictures for promoting their app, share them on socials etc. without paying you a commission. In reality they would still need an appearance release form for any identifying images. It doesn't mean they are going to sell images of your children to paedophiles.

I don't think the OP said the photo had been taken by older children?
MustardMitt · 26/10/2020 22:04

@Summerfreeze OP only mentions her daughter as being 5. I think as OP isn’t horrified from an assault perspective you should probably take the post at face value.

Summerfreeze · 26/10/2020 22:10

Pocket money and an app? That’s kids older than four so yes older kids. If your five year old reported to school that her older siblings had persuaded her to do this they’d be rightly concerned and raise red flags.

Summerfreeze · 26/10/2020 22:11

Plenty of people either don’t realise or minimise when their children exhibit concerning behaviour.

4,5,6 yos get pocket money and have access to devices. Could be a younger sibling, could be same age, could be a year older or 10 years older. Why you'd go for the worst option and use words like illegal and violated beats me.
Sunnydaysstillhere · 26/10/2020 22:23

My 6 yo has offered up his soggy parsnip a few times for photos recently.. The more squeals they get the more they flash ime.

I doubt your dd will appear in a bum hole line up anytime soon op...

This could be how OP's kid got the idea, if they saw that
Bbub · 26/10/2020 22:35

Yeah I did something about similar at that age (obviously totally different technology as we're talking about 30 years ago), this is so funny 😅

Deleting the app and reinstalling is the best way probably as mentioned above. Good luck op 😂

Bbub · 26/10/2020 22:39

Soggy parsnip 😂😂

Quaagars · 26/10/2020 23:10

It's not Kinder's fault - sounds like you seriously need to sit your kids down and tell them what is and isn't appropriate to take pictures of!
How old are they (the one's taking pics of 5 yr old?)
Sounds like they're not old enough to have access to apps and internet unsupervised.

Enough4me · 26/10/2020 23:15

My DS at five went through a bum flashing stage. He thought it was hilarious as older kids laughed at it, and it took lots of stern talks to get it out of his system.

Experience maybe? Better to assume it’s a risk and not treat it as a huge internet joke to share than risk being yet another adult that ignores signs of abuse.

Quaagars · 26/10/2020 23:29

@HellooJackie

Going completely off topic now (sorry) but is your username a Friday Night Dinner reference lol
