... do you have a whole can or just half?

I've just noticed that a serving is half a can - Surely that isn't enough? I've been over indulging in soup for years!

On this ad they have two sizes of tins.
www.hatads.org.uk/catalogue/record/43c5d59b-cefd-4887-bbd7-aacb64db2505

They also suggest poaching eggs in it.

vampirethriller · 26/10/2020 13:07

Full tin of soup unless the toddler is also having soup in which case I have 2/3, half tin of beans.

Redwolf1 · 26/10/2020 13:07

Whole tin. The only tinned soup we eat is tomato. I make 2 tins for dh, our dd and me. Dd only has a little bit so dh and I probably have 350g each. 200g would not be enough

Anotherthink · 26/10/2020 13:07

Full tin and three rounds of buttered bread Blush

Can't believe someone has less than half, that would never fill me

Thebookswereherfriends · 26/10/2020 13:07

Well, I often have a whole can, but recently realised it has 20 g of sugar in a whole can (I normally have cream of tomato), so have decided to only have 1/2 in future!

TheQueef · 26/10/2020 13:09

I make an exceptional chicken noodle poorly soup.
It's aromat and maggi that makes it special.
I chuck all the vermicelli in so it gets thicker each meal.

Guess what I'll be making today!

Shinygoldbauble · 26/10/2020 13:09

I make my own soup but I only inhale the steam Wink

WitchQueenofDarkness · 26/10/2020 13:09

Half here.

TheGreyElephant · 26/10/2020 13:10

3/4s the other quarter goes to 6 year old, if on my own have the whole tin.

Eckhart · 26/10/2020 13:10

@SoupDragon

Can of beans, can of worms

Beans I eat a whole can, usually straight from the can, cold, with a big spoon.

Worms I have in smaller portions, and can't eat cold. They're OK if you microwave them for a minute though, and put a bit of instant gravy on.

sashh · 26/10/2020 13:10

For a meal a whole can,for a starter 1/2.

BTW canning is the process of putting food in airtight containers and then cooking to allow for long storage. Cans were traditionally glass.

Then they began to be made with tin - hence the name.

52andblue · 26/10/2020 13:11

a whole tin if it is 'runny' tomato or chicken, half if it has beans or pasta
mostly, it's a half a carton of fresh soup with left over veg from last nights dinner chucked in plus extra water if too thick
(and trying to resist toasted sourdough with lashings of butter and a wedge of cheddar to go with it)

Mrsjayy · 26/10/2020 13:11

My chicken noodle soup was tasteless it was horrible I was to embarrassed to make it again.

TellingBone · 26/10/2020 13:11

I waft a lettuce leaf near the can and eat that. Only on treat days though.

GabsAlot · 26/10/2020 13:12

a whole can i have it in my huge friends mug

Ninkanink · 26/10/2020 13:12

Whole can if having just the soup. Half if having crusty roll with cheese/croutons/garlic bread/etc.

BiggerBoat1 · 26/10/2020 13:12

I put ketchup on my baked beans. DH thinks I'm an animal.

Poppyismyfavourite · 26/10/2020 13:14

Ah I have this problem - the solution is to buy 2 tins of the same soup and split them over 3 portions. 2/3 of a tin = perfect :)

TheArchFear · 26/10/2020 13:14

@BiggerBoat1

You're an axe murderer.
ThisIsntMeHonestGuv · 26/10/2020 13:15

the rest of us would have a plate of soup

Can't fit much soup on a plate Halloween Wink

TheQueef · 26/10/2020 13:16

Aromat MrsJ near the herbs in a small yellow container.
Just gives it oomph and maggi, near the relish similar bottle.

Before that most of my clear soups were insipid like a stock cube drink.

DioneTheDiabolist · 26/10/2020 13:16

I have half with a buttered roll or toast. But then I'm one of those people who eats a single square of chocolate.Halloween Blush I get bored easily.Halloween Grin

RedWine123 · 26/10/2020 13:17

If I’m having just soup then the whole tin but if I have a sandwich or something then I’ll have half a tin.

Sewrainbow · 26/10/2020 13:17

My dh has two cans! I like the smaller cans but will eat one 400g if I have it as can't be bothered to keep it.

RaininSummer · 26/10/2020 13:19

Right now I am enjoying whole can of heinz tomato with 2 crumpets, marmite and cheese.
