(Socially distanced of course and in strictest obedience of all localised lockdowns and 3 or 5 tiers and whatever illogic the powers that be can dream up next)

The original digital discussion continues...

Did I see on this thread that someone went out for a curry

An actual restaurant. OMG

it’s like a vague dream here where people go out and perhaps even enjoy themselves.

Was there friends there. Was there drink ? Was it befor 6 pm

So many questions

It’s like another world out there

AllPlayedOut · 23/10/2020 23:12

Re the lightbulbs. People with sight loss can't see so it's only fair that no one else is allowed to see.

SufferingFromLongLockdown · 23/10/2020 23:13

[quote AcornAutumn]Light bulbs not sold in Wales now.

Are the supermarkets going away over the top as a way to point out the farcicality of it?
Surely people will revolt?

justasking111 · 23/10/2020 23:19

@SufferingFromLongLockdown

I think you may have a point the supermarkets seem to be making a point here by shrink wrapping the daftest things. I do get the feeling that they colluded and said if the little man wants war we will give him war.

SufferingFromLongLockdown · 23/10/2020 23:22

Oh and apologies. I've been here a good while but namechanged

AcornAutumn · 23/10/2020 23:23

Suffering yes, that’s possible

Saying hardware is non essential is beyond crazy

Well, there’s no words for any of it.

justasking111 · 23/10/2020 23:26

Drakeford said aptly today we did not need candles, so Asda took it one further by banning bulbs. God that is funny.

littlbrowndog · 23/10/2020 23:26

I know it’s total crap

Selling fags and booze but no lightbulbs 🤪

Dowser · 23/10/2020 23:26

Hellooooo from Tenerife
Where life is almost normal
Actually no it’s not..it’s better
I feel more relaxed than I’ve done since our lockdown

@wouldbegood..I thought you did a sterling job on the verbally attacked thread.
Nice to see you here.

justasking111 · 23/10/2020 23:31

I know I cannot buy four candles, but can I buy fork handles Grin

justasking111 · 23/10/2020 23:32

hi Dowser, very envious of your holiday .

BogRollBOGOF · 23/10/2020 23:43

I hope it is the supermarkets rebelling and taking the piss.

Love the fork 'andles sketch.

Unfortunately most of my conversations with the DCs seem to be like a conversatio with the two Ronnies. I think my hearing is going, but given that many of my conversations are with obsessive 9 & 7 yos, a DH that's far too interested in the American election or wittering about engineering, or conducted through multiple layers of perspex and fabric, I can't tell if I actually have a problem or not! My auditory processing has always been crap (my apples did not fall far from their tree...) and I can't tell if my attention span is screwed up or if there's a hardware problem.
I should go to specsavers, apart from that whole mask problem.

I suspect that spending months of my waking time of 2020 tapping away on a phone screen has also affected my shortsightedness.

They guards are doing that all over the country. Checking that we are not going outside our 5km. I'm way down south abs they caused havoc with the morning rush hour.

Dowser · 23/10/2020 23:51

Thanks just asking.
I realise I’m very lucky and I’m very grateful.

Always one to push the envelope. We have a chance to stay another 11 days which o would jump at in a heartbeat but dh hates the heat, so now we don’t have to quarantine I’m going to stop dropping sly hints about flight changing etc as we are coming back in December.

( we usually do anyway, but there was a big question mark over this trip.)
So am feeling much happier now..I will feel happier still when flights and dates are in the bag.

I’ve been telling all the waiters in the restaurants we frequent over the years, to brace themselves
The Brits are coming.

Already there seems to be a bit more of a trickle onto the streets and a few more bars/ restaurants seem to be opening up in just the week we’ve been here.

All good for the canarians.

BogRollBOGOF · 23/10/2020 23:53

I can't get my temperature right at this time of year anyway. Too much difference between indoors, outdoors, moving and sitting. If I'm too warm, I sweat them get too cold. If my extremities get cold, they take forever to warm and my nose drips (shame I can't get on with masks as it would solve the cold nose)

I kind of envy DS who doesn't eben own trousers!

I much prefer summer where it's just consistently warm/ too warm and less margin for error Grin

Is it masks outside in Tenerife?
ISaySteadyOn · 24/10/2020 08:23

Grump for today: When did the medical profession decide that the human immune system doesn't exist or that it's so rubbish that it might as well not exist?

When I was a little girl, we had a book called The Incredible Machine. It was all about how amazing the human body was and there was an emphasis on how wonderful the human body could be at fighting off disease and repairing itself. We could help it along, sure, but it was an incredible machine. That was the attitude behind getting exercise. Your body is an incredible machine so take care of it!

The message now seems to be: Bodies are useless, exercise so it's less so. When did this shift take place?

petitions.senedd.wales/petitions/244282
I have never seen the signatures on a petition rise at the rate they are on this one. I'm not Welsh but I have signed it.
I was reading that the police (and really, haven't they got much better things to do?) will try and turn back people at the border, but they have no power to force them, but can report them for possible prosecution. What court would prosecute? Surely this is an abuse of human rights? Courts are already backed up because of covid, but no matter, lets give them loads of crap to deal with as well.
Gloucestershire is very low on police, especially in rural areas, so I don't know how they can spare the manpower. Good time for criminals to get busy while plod is looking the other way.

AcornAutumn · 24/10/2020 08:29

ISay - this year, I think.

I haven’t noticed that so much as noticing that infectious disease has only just arrived in 2020.

Thete is definitely an issue with power mad big pharma. Sorry to go off piste but my uncle had a minor heart attack just before lockdown. He was put on so many medications, he is a shadow of his former self, his blood pressure is on the floor and he’s got a permanent allergic rash due to system overload.

Sadly I cannot get him to listen to any ideas of removing meds eg statins when he doesn’t have high cholesterol, blood pressure drugs when he doesn’t have high blood pressure.

AcornAutumn · 24/10/2020 08:30

Reed - I thought they only count signatures from Wales? Happy to sign if it helps bit thought it wasn’t for me.

Reedwarbler · 24/10/2020 08:34

@AcornAutumn No, anyone can sign.

I am doing it out of solidarity as I'm just across the border!

I don’t know if there’s anywhere to discuss hobbies on MN

I’m trying to teach myself keyboard with an app

The piece of music that’s been sent to me today is called “The Dictator“
Hmm
