Does he need donations for legal fees?

shinynewapple2020 · 25/10/2020 00:59

It says on BBC news that they will be reviewing the supermarket restrictions in Wales . It's following on from the petition .

MercyBooth · 25/10/2020 01:30

Blimey they are throwing the book at him.

Willow2017 · 25/10/2020 01:45

Criminal damage to some industrial cling film? Talk about desperation.

MercyBooth · 25/10/2020 02:11

@Willow2017 Its ludicrous. And will do fuck all for community relations.

Trainchoose · 25/10/2020 06:27

The criminal damage is ridiculous. I actually find it quite enraging that for the past few years due to cuts, police have routinely told people that they cannot investigate crimes, some actually quite serious, as nor enough resources. Now there are many ridiculous instances where miraculously they find the time to charge for petty infractions. Van broken into with all your tools? Not arsed, even though this means they'll likely strike again. Went round to ya nans? In the clink for you. FFS.

wanderings · 25/10/2020 06:42

According to the Greta Thunbergs of Mumsnet, that amount of plastic waste (Wales shops) amounts to criminal damage to the planet. (Or is plastic not really Thunberg's thing, she or her puppet masters prefer to attack air travel?)

If Drakeford has to back down, it will be a small victory for common sense, or the people against the power-mad politicians. It's a shame that the protester who ripped off the cling film has been charged - I suppose Drakeford ordered it personally, to "make an example" of him. It's almost a shame Owen wasn't wearing a mask: it would have been harder to prosecute him, which would be a brilliant irony for the face nappies.

It would have been even better if a supermarket had accidentally cordoned off shelves selling face masks. It would have been absolutely priceless!!

SirSamuelVimes · 25/10/2020 07:16

Criminal damage?! Are they fucking kidding? But the police won't investigate a house burglary (won't even come out in some places) and rape is so poorly investigated and prosecuted it's essentially been made legal. Fucking BASTARDS.

Reedwarbler · 25/10/2020 07:31

Like @IAintentDead I am anti-rule, but there aren't any rules I need to break, and that's really a sad comment on how small my life has become. However, I have one family member and two friends, who, despite being allowed out and about, are so terrified they won't leave their homes/gardens. They are confused by the rules too, so they are worried they might be doing something wrong, although they are not quite sure what it is! I have tried to persuade them out to no avail. Incidentally, we have no covid at all in our rural area.
That chap being charged with criminal damage - the petition against the non selling of goods (which has reached a record number of signatories for a Welsh petition) is going to be debated, so if that is reversed, the prosecution would be a pointless waste of money.

Bollss · 25/10/2020 07:33

@justasking111

OH NO!! you know the guy who went into Tesco and ripped off all the cellophane from the kids clothing etc.the video went viral well he has been charged

North Wales Police
6m ·
Following an incident at Tesco in Bangor on the evening of Friday 23rd October, 28 year old Gwilym Owen from Anglesey has been charged with Criminal Damage, several Public Order offences, and Contravention of the Coronavirus Regulations.
He has been granted conditional bail to appear at Caernarfon Magistrates court on 24th November.

Oh why don't they just fuck off honestly. Criminal damage for ripping cling film? Everyone involved in making this decision ought to be ashamed of themselves. Haven't they got any real crime to deal with?? This is just going to make people even more angry. Horrible, horrible wankers.
LivinLaVidaLoki · 25/10/2020 07:39

Sorry not been around for a few days, had a rough few days emotionally and so stayed away from MN and SM, then I realised that here was the only oasis of calm at the moment....

Gwilym Owen doesn't deserve a criminal record, he deserves a fucking Knighthood.

DP, whilst not dementory is quite precious about the roolz, but even he, last night said that given the decisions govts have made this week (greater Manchester, free school meals and the Welsh fiasco), and the public reaction to those decisions, and how little of a shit the govt give about that, it looks as if the whole thing will unravel before long or there will be some kind of civil unrest.

This weekends govt "leak", some aspects of life could be back before Christmas....

As for Neil Ferguson he can fuck right off.

Blobby10 · 25/10/2020 07:57

Does anyone else feel irrationally ‘guilty’ for doing something within The Roolz and enjoying it? I went to see my daughter yesterday as I’ve been very worried about her mental health. Both of us live in towns with same tier rules but two hours drive away. I went into her room in a shared house and communicated from 2 metres away with two of her housemates for about five minutes. Rest of the day either in the car together or outside in the rain or eating meal in pub! It was lovely but now I’m feeling guilty at going into the house and sharing car space with her. !! Both v low risk- She’s tested for symptoms daily due to her internship and sport - I work in an office on my own and don’t see anyone except OH a few times a week. So WHY do I feel guilty for seeing my daughter?

AcornAutumn · 25/10/2020 07:59

Blobby - they got into your brain.

Don’t let them!

Blobby10 · 25/10/2020 08:21

AcornAutumn I'm trying not to let them but its creeping in! I've been so scathing of The Roolz too!! 😣

JamSarnie · 25/10/2020 08:33

I have broken one rule once. I went for dinner in a restaurant and whilst there was 6 of us we were from three different households. The irony is I think now in tier 1 that is allowed even though there are more positive tests results 🤣

Shows how daft these arbitrary rules can be.

shinynewapple2020 · 25/10/2020 08:34

@Blobby10 not at all! I've managed to do loads of things this year within 'the rules' which I've happily enjoyed, including 4 UK holidays . Only slightly broke rules earlier this year when we saw family in garden when it was still supposed to be parks only . However expecting my area to move into Tier 2 soon and trying very hard to think how to still do what I want to do within those rules without being cold and wet !

110APiccadilly · 25/10/2020 09:01

@Blobby10

We're about to use one of the exceptions in the new shiny Welsh rules today (this is not even a rule bend, there's a clear and pressing need for it). I feel quite irrationally worried about it - worried we'll be reported and have to explain, that sort of thing. It's horrible, and I do wonder what this is doing to the population as a whole psychologically.

Blobby10 · 25/10/2020 09:07

@110APiccadilly its awful isn't it? I know there's a virulent virus out there which will be very serious for some people but just can't understand the reactions of governments worldwide . Lockdowns only seem to prolong the inevitable so why not protect the vulnerable but let those of us lucky to have robust immune systems carry on? Doing things the way they are is going to create a whole load of new problems which will be way worse than any coronavirus.

ISaySteadyOn · 25/10/2020 09:23

I provide childcare for some of my friends so they can work. That's my only rule breaking.

Otherwise, I break none and it is killing me. I can't go anywhere or do anything any more, not even to the library because of masks. I am just so afraid of being attacked. Not that the library would be enjoyable anymore given that you have to pre book and only get 15 min browsing time but it would be different.

I love DH and the DCs more than anything and if sacrificing my life would free them and everyone from this, I would do it in a heartbeat. Every day I cry at least once and wish I weren't here anymore. But my feelings no longer matter so I carry on as best I can.

Thank you all for the safe space to say it. I promise I am not quite so gloomy irl. Spent some of yesterday playing a game where you make farm animal noises much to DS' delight. It went on for ages...you know the typeWink.

AcornAutumn · 25/10/2020 09:42

ISaySteadyOn I really feel for you.

There’s no browsing allowed in my library but I wouldn’t anyway because tracking etc

Your post made me think to post this song ...

“When you made your best plans but somehow they just didn’t work
Cos you were counting on your countrymen and women not to go beserk”

And many other meaningful lines.

Hopefully this thread is like my grey hair...going nowhere!

ChocFreak · 25/10/2020 09:48

Hello, long time lurker on the AD threads, first time poster. Find I'm feeling more and more demoralised by all the restrictions we are placed under and really dreading the long winter months ahead. Anyway, a big thank you to all you lovely people for being the voice(s) of reason in all this madness. You are helping keep me sane ish Smile

Orangeblossom7777 · 25/10/2020 09:59

Maybe we need to find some thoughts for when feeling guilty happens such as reminding ourselves we are OK - something along the lines of what the health guy said here. About looking at risks and benefits for ourselves. and not living in fear. Just using common sense and taking care around vulnerable and old people. All these rules have taken away people's control and use of reason in a way.

People get so caught up in doing what they think they should etc, with the rules rather than using their own judgement and common sense (not here but on some threads)

Better who run most council pools emailed today and said they had successfully lobbied for all pools and sports centres to stay open across the UK in all tiers. So that is good.

Whoooootaminute · 25/10/2020 10:01

I had a lovely dream last night.

It was February 20 and I had booked flights to Fuerteventura for February 28. I was so excited.

Then I woke up. 😕

SufferingFromLongLockdown · 25/10/2020 10:03

Acorn, love a bit of Frank Turner.. It was the last gig we went to back in March.

On another note, we went into a shopping centre for the first time yesterday.
Masks: it seemed very relaxed about masks. There were extra security people but I didn't feel I might be accosted. 1/5 not wearing them or tucking them under chin/ noses when we arrived. By the time we left nearly everyone had given up on them, it was much too hot and airless in there. I was getting dizzy.

no public seating: I kind of get this because you can't track and trace a public bench, but I was wilting and ended up having to buy a drink in a café just to sit down. What do elderly and disabled people do? Or pregnant women or mothers needing to feed their babies?

We went to a restaurant then into the 3 shops the kids had asked to go into, then a cafe for a sit down and that was enough, we were all tired by then!
So it was about what I was expected, maybe a little better to be honest and it was ok, but not something I'll be rushing back to do again.

movingonup20 · 25/10/2020 10:08

The whole situation is stupid, my friend has been sent to Swansea (from sw England) to deliver for Amazon because they are swamped with orders!
