What's on your bucket list for when normal life resumes?

My city is going into Tier 2 tomorrow, which is a bit grim, as I live alone, so I've been thinking about some things I'd like to do in the future when we can finally get back to normal, whenever that is.

I've travelled quite a bit, when I was 46 I got made redundant and went to India for 4 months which was amazing. I've always wanted to go to both Cuba and Vietnam for a long trip, so those are 2 things that are definitely on my bucket list!

Would love to know what yours are, and I also think it can be helpful to think about the future beyond this current shitshow, as it won't be forever!

And I'm aware that some pp are really struggling right now, so I hope this is not an insensitive post, just want to inject some hope and positivity. Smile

Cuba is amazing, good choice!

I want to get back to Barbados. Was there this time last year for my 50th. And also a lovely little village in Spain which we usually visit each summer. Have been lucky enough to get away twice this year but miss my regular haunts very much.

Aside from foreign travel, just stepping out the door without having to dodge round other people and taking a mask would be awesome.

I want to go to centre parcs! I know that sounds very lame, but my kids love it and our half term trip has just been cancelled due to us going into tier 3. So i just want to go and have a nice, normal time!

A party. I am quite an introvert but I just want to see the people I’ve not seen in months!

hopeishere · 22/10/2020 18:03

Holiday
Spa break in a hotel (possibly alone)

Beni1993 · 22/10/2020 18:04

Honestly? I can't wait to hug my mum and sister.

burglarbettybaby · 22/10/2020 18:05

I want to go to Holland as planned last year and we've postponed. Would kill for a mini break to somewhere like Budapest for Halloween Sad but would just like to go to our local city even for a bit of early christmad shopping as we have a 5km curfew where I live. So it's online all the way.

Isadora2007 · 22/10/2020 18:06

Swimming pool, soft play...
I don’t miss hugs- have always hated festive hugs from all and sundry so actually enjoying the respect for personal space that Covid has brought.
I miss just having the ability to make plans that will be able to go ahead!!!

burglarbettybaby · 22/10/2020 18:08

Also would look forward to booking santa if possible as that's off the cards

A big party or any crowded area, I love that feeling of being absorbed into a large group. I know that’s some people’s nightmare though

nosswith · 22/10/2020 18:18

Visiting France.

Lazysundayafternoons · 22/10/2020 18:18

I need a holiday - time off work AND away from my house for a week to just forget everything and de-stress.

amusedtodeath1 · 22/10/2020 18:19

Live Music/Gigs
Short break in the UK
Big holiday as soon as can afford it.

Raera · 22/10/2020 18:20

Live concerts and maybe a festival please

Sondor · 22/10/2020 18:23

I'm in Manchester so we've been in extra restrictions across the summer and now until god knows when, so it probably would be a garden party with all my family for one of my children's birthdays, with all my children, nieces and nephews running about and drinking endless cups of tea made by family and trying to have three different chats at once. As it is, likely not going to see half my family until spring as they live out of area.

TheVanguardSix · 22/10/2020 18:23

Concerts
Our go-to farmhouse in the French countryside (with my brother and his family if he lives long enough and is well enough. With his wife and children if he passes).

Really dig deeply into my faith again.

EssentialHummus · 22/10/2020 18:26

An AC/DC concert.
Dinner at the bar in my favourite restaurant in the West End.
All the hugs.

Doje · 22/10/2020 18:28

I want a Big Night Out with the girls! One of those where you have ill advised shots, dance on tables and all hug eachother at the end of the night saying how awesome everyone is.

SimonJT · 22/10/2020 18:28

Play in the Bingham Cup, now moved to 2023, it was meant to be this August in Ottawa, hopefully I’m not too old and knackered in three years.

Get married, although it doesn’t really have to be normal for that.

Have child number two if possible.

Go to concerts/the theatre.

Have some actual night outs.

Going on a holiday abroad without worrying about quarantine etc.

inchyra · 22/10/2020 18:33

The DC are desperate to see their grandparents. DH and I are older parents, as were mine, so time is very much running out. This has been the most distressing aspect of Covid IMO.

After that, SO MANY HOLIDAYS. South of France, Southern Spain, Italy, Greek Islands, India, China, Japan. If the Americans vote out Trump, then New York and Disneyworld for the DC.

yeOldeTrout · 22/10/2020 18:34

Seeing my parents -- may timezones away.

GeorgeMichaelsEspadrille · 22/10/2020 18:36

@essentialHummus - that all sounds awesome!!!

RaspberryToupee · 22/10/2020 18:38

I want to hug my mum. My friends. My god children. My friend’s newborn.

I want to have a long overdue catch up with my friends.

Cuba is an excellent choice, we went for our honeymoon. When you visit, stay a few nights in Havana and visit the arts and craft fair. It’s a little bit out of the centre, near the docks. As you first walk in, there’s the usual tourist stuff that you’ll get on the streets and little supermarkets. However, there’s a fantastic little side bit filled with paintings from local artists (and some of the tourist ones - a Havana street scene and an old car painted in front of it). When we visited (4 years ago), you had to walk into the main hall and all the way to the top, then go to the far left (but obviously it might have moved so ask a local when you get there).

homemadecommunistrussia · 22/10/2020 18:45

I'm going stay home by myself. For a week.
Then I I'll go away by myself, maybe home to Norfolk, ride on the trains without a mask and eat whatever I fancy.
Then maybe I will go some where with dh and meet up with my bf too. Lots of museums.

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 22/10/2020 18:48

Fly to the UK to see our families

AgeLikeWine · 22/10/2020 18:49

A holiday, same as everybody else.

The so-called ‘experts’ predicting that demand for travel will not return for years are talking rubbish. IF we get good vaccines this winter, millions of people will be desperate to get away, and willing to pay whatever it costs.
