Tell me your zombie Apocalypse plan

Hi, inspired by me currently rewatching The Walking Dead I wondered if anyone has thought what their plan would be if the zombie apocalypse were to happen.

Where would you go first, what would your weapon of choice be, would you join a group and what role do you think you'd play?

With a small child, dog and only access to kitchen knives I don't think I'd personally get very far!

As an expat I would try to get back to my parents in the UK so would probably have to steal a boat but that's probably not a bad idea as I don't think zombies can swim. The fact I have a pre thought out plan for zombies shows how out of control my anxiety got during lockdown.

PsychoSyd · 22/10/2020 14:46

If I told you, I'd have to kill you. It involves not letting anyone near me until it all blows over.

lovelemoncurd · 22/10/2020 14:48

Husband has it all worked through. Wish he would put as much thought into diy jobs as he has that!

LadyofMisrule · 22/10/2020 14:51

I spent many hours planning responses to zombie apocalypse, global pandemic, food shortages, etc when I was spending hours breastfeeding in the middle of the night.

Some of those plans have become unexpectedly useful.

Mine too, with waterproof maps and bug out bags. It's a hobby!

I think DD and him would love a good apocalypse. I'd be the weak link. Although I am a crack shot so I suppose they'd forage while I guarded the camp.

I haven’t watched the walking dead - so maybe I am missing something key about zombies.

I think I’d head for the coast, try and steal a boat and live aboard. I have just about enough sailing knowledge to be able to move around a bit and anchor to row ashore. I suspect that once the oil ran out my skills would have to rapidly increase though.

Fortunately I was taken fishing as a teen and have retained quite a bit of information about how to fish. Possibly more fortunately I could eat mackerel until I popped, so with a couple of feathers out the back of the boat I’d hope to have a reasonably sustainable source of food.

I’ve made it sound quite romantic, but I am sure it would be hellish. Maybe enough to survive until the zombies were defeated though?

HoxtonBonnet · 22/10/2020 14:55

I would relocate to a house next to the sea - preferably on a hill with clear views - definitely not surrounded by woods Hmm. I could then make quick getaways on a boat. Some kind of warning system in place to alert me of their approach.

I would set up some sort of clever system where I would lure zombies to their death via fiery pits etc using loud noises.

I spend quite a lot of time talking to ds15 about this!

Paranoidmarvin · 22/10/2020 14:57

Watched far to many of these things. First. Hunker down inside. Board everything up. Wait for the initial panic to pass over. You then want to stock up. And move to somewhere in the country. Find ur base. Secure it.

ArcherDog · 22/10/2020 14:58

Go back to my parents.

My mum has spent decades ‘fox proofing’ her garden so the boundary is pretty secure.
Grows her own veg and had a fully stocked larder.
Move everything and everyone up to the attic and retract the ladder.

We’ll have to move the fridge, freezer and microwave up. There’s a generator in the garage we can take up and plenty of camping equipment for if the electric runs out. Can’t forget the tin opener.

We’ll have to somehow move the rabbit hutch up there, can’t leave them behind, and maybe take some turf for them.

holyshitdude · 22/10/2020 14:58

I think I'd steal a boat, load it up with supplies and just drift about the sea until it's all over.

TheDrsDocMartens · 22/10/2020 14:59

Years ago there was a huge MN zombie plan. Involved fire engines and Navy ships/cruise liners (depending where you were in the country).

MichelleofzeResistance · 22/10/2020 14:59

Get to The Winchester. Eat peanuts.

Howmanysleepsnow · 22/10/2020 15:01

I’d be useless. Luckily DH can shoot, sail and fish, so I’ll look after the dc and ddog while he saves us all.

QuestionableMouse · 22/10/2020 15:12

I'd get my family and move them into my house. It's rural, very solidly built and I've got quite a stockpile of food. (I'd also clear out mam's cupboards, and my sister's).

I've also got access to a lot of electric fencing and a mains charger so would run that around the house. I also know where there's a combine harvester and how to drive it. Think that would make short work of most zombies.

QuestionableMouse · 22/10/2020 15:13

Also my partner is a farm vet and has a pick up that's loaded with medical supplies, has a water tank and he sometimes has a gun with him.

MrsTerryPratchett · 22/10/2020 15:15

Swearwolf · 22/10/2020 15:15

The idea of running from zombies forever and constantly living in fear doesn't really appeal. And I'm blind as shit so the second I lost my glasses in a scuffle I'd be toast. I think I'd probably just let one bite me to be honest. Seems easier.

AdaColeman · 22/10/2020 15:18

There is an Official MN Zombie Apocalypse Plan (ZAP) in existence already.
Only those of us in the know can set it in motion though! Halloween Wink Halloween Wink

MrsTerryPratchett · 22/10/2020 15:22

We are sort of in one now....

Tell me your zombie Apocalypse plan
Guiltypleasures001 · 22/10/2020 15:23

Op

Kitchen knives silver insulation tape and a broom handle
Tape knife to handle job done, be aware of blood soaking and weakening tape
But it's good to keep them at a COVID distance Grin

I am the queen of making weapons out of thin air, even my 22yr old son is impressed 😏

Meruem · 22/10/2020 15:44

I live in a converted house, above ground floor, so I have my plan to block all the exits. Zombies can’t climb ladders so the windows wouldn’t be an issue. We have enough food In at any one time to last us a while. Our next move would depend on the situation. If reports had come in (before the electric stopped working) of attacks all over the world then it would be hopeless anyway! So we’d probably then kill ourselves when the food ran out! If it was just the UK then we may well try and head for coast but very slowly and carefully!

FreeAcorns · 22/10/2020 16:40

I'd befriend a doctor/vet, someone who knows how to handle guns/weapons, someone good at nature stuff (e.g. what plants we can eat and stuff) and someone good at fixing/building things. Then raid a few shops/pharmacies/homes and stock up on essentials. Find a base- somewhere high and open so we can see zombies/marauders approaching. Secure it as carefully as possible. Hunker down and try to become self-sustaining by growing food and maybe getting some chickens for eggs and a cow or two for milk.

Although if there was a zombie apocalypse, I'm pretty sure I'd blindly panic and end up dead within the first 10 minutes of it kicking off.

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 22/10/2020 17:23

I'd go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint and wait for it all to blow over, obviously!

Freshair85 · 22/10/2020 18:45

These are all great ideas, I'm definitely going to add stealing a boat to my plan... although I would definitely be the weak link too and also probably just get bitten to get it over with 😂

Also very intrigued by the MN zombie plan already in existence, would be great to see the world re built by MN subscribers
