Tell me your zombie Apocalypse plan

Hi, inspired by me currently rewatching The Walking Dead I wondered if anyone has thought what their plan would be if the zombie apocalypse were to happen.

Where would you go first, what would your weapon of choice be, would you join a group and what role do you think you'd play?

With a small child, dog and only access to kitchen knives I don't think I'd personally get very far!

I'd go and find Daryl Dixon Wink

TheABC · 22/10/2020 18:57

The problem is not surviving the zombies. The problem is surviving social breakdown afterwards.

From that end, a house on the coast with solar panels, a water supply and three months of food is essential.

After 3 months, people will be dead, bored or slowly re-organising.

merryhouse · 22/10/2020 19:02

My plan: die.

forgetthehousework · 22/10/2020 19:05

@Freshair85

Also very intrigued by the MN zombie plan already in existence, would be great to see the world re built by MN subscribers
I think I might prefer to take my chances with the zombies ...
snowstorm2012 · 22/10/2020 19:09

Head down to Poole to grab a huge Sunseeker with a wine stop along the way 👍🏼

SinisterBumFacedCat · 22/10/2020 19:09

I’d honestly just let them get me early on, hopefully there would be enough of me left to reanimate and join the hordes, chasing the rest of you.

ssd · 22/10/2020 19:10

Not sure, but I'd definitely have a cup of tea first.

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 22/10/2020 19:17

I think zombie-ism sounds kind of relaxing. Shuffling along, groaning, and eating. No worries about Covid, Brexit, mortgage...

Bite me.

PetNameChange · 22/10/2020 19:18

Dh has a full ZAP Grin

I’m a really good shot, my first port of call would be to my parents (my dad has guns and gun licence not that it would be needed due to social breakdown and no police) I’d grab the guns/ammo/food/parents and the bug out van (parents camper filled with enough stuff for 6 people to last a good few months) then head to the bug out location.

In reality I’d probably get eaten getting to my parents Grin

It’s a subject I try not to bring up in conversation with Dh or I have to listen to him go on & on for hours Hmm

Junobug · 22/10/2020 19:19

Can they climb stairs? Or open doors? I'm not even really convinced that they would get in to a garden. I think it'd be a bit like the threat of covid. We'd all panic for a few days and then realise that it's easy to round them up and destroy them. So I definitely think getting supplies and hiding upstairs is the best plan for at least a few weeks.

Enoughnowstop · 22/10/2020 19:21

Oooh, my son and I have a meet up place arranged out of town in a place we think won’t have loads of people. From there we have worked out where to get supplies and where we can hole up for a while to see how it goes....

frankie001 · 22/10/2020 19:26

As long as they are the slower versions of zombies I’d set up treadmills, facing outwards linked to electric supply. The zombies can run it for me, and I can still use MN

mawbroon · 22/10/2020 19:32

I live right beside a cemetery. I'll not bother with a plan. I'm doomed, most likely.

Metheven · 22/10/2020 19:42

My plan has always been to live at a National Trust property. Plenty of land, should have a water source and chimneys for fires. Hopefully one that is down lots of thin and winding lanes and has good solid walls surrounding it. But I would also commandeer a digger and dig ditches around it as a second layer of protection. Why on earth they never dug ditches in The Walking Dead astounds me.

If I was in Scotland, I would head for Balmoral. I bet the security there is good and if I was lucky, I might find a tiara to wear.

But this is all no good if the zombies are fast. If they are fast I would be dead in the first ten minutes.

1000mangoesinabirthdaycake · 22/10/2020 19:46

I always thought the treehouse set up in Robin Hood:Prince of thieves would work well in a zombie apocalypse.

icebearforpresident · 22/10/2020 19:47

Die. Pretty quickly. I’m a type 1 diabetic so without insulin I’m gone anyway, even if a looted a massive pharmacy it would only last so long. Death by zombie probably preferable to ketoacidosis.

That said, I live beside a river with a working boatyard directly opposite on the other bank. A proper boatyard, they do work for the RNLI and large fishing boats, so DH and the kids will be fine.
(Anyone planning on stealing a boat, my house is going on the market soon 😉)

BrieAndChilli · 22/10/2020 19:49

Right behind our house is an army training ground. It’s a few miles square and completely surrounded by spiked fencing. I know there various bunkers full of shut in there, weapons and chinooks and tanks as we hear and see them practising!! My plan it to get in there!!

MrsGradyOldLady · 22/10/2020 19:51

Get bitten Grin

Aridane · 22/10/2020 19:51

Simples - hook up with Daryl

Redcups64 · 22/10/2020 19:54

I wouldn’t make it, I can’t run and I have asthma. If I was do you a carol and become all strong and stuff the first thing would be straight to the chemist to steal all the antibiotics, asthma pumps and steroids, because if I didn’t I would die in the winter anyway 🤦🏼‍♀️

CigarsofthePharoahs · 22/10/2020 19:55

Find a supermarket distribution centre. Plenty of supplies there. Make a mobile base in one of the lorries.
Lock zombies in stock cages and perform experiments to look for a cure.
Save the world by sending out the cure in delivery vans.
Become a hero.

ThePluckOfTheCoward · 22/10/2020 19:59

I'd just take my bra off and hope for the best.

alwaystired234 · 22/10/2020 20:00

My best friend and myself have had a zombie apocalypse plan since we were around 13 and every house weve moved to consequently adapted the plan to incorporate changes. The best one was when I lived in a second floor high rise block of flats. We had a small balcony and the front door had about 8 locks on because the previous tenants were used to opportunist robbers and a co OP less than 100 meters away . Would've been perfect for a apocalypse

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 22/10/2020 20:01

i am taking out the stairs, and will keep a ladder up there with me

I am going to break into a small shopping centre for food

Dh reckons a boat on the Forth and Clyde would be ideal, its VERY wide in places, and not many locks, he also has a plan so he could get access to LOTS of weapons/ammo. We also watch lots of weird programmes about living in the wilds and hunting so have a head start over any surviving ninnies who are scared of plastic wrapped chicken.

I am very handy with an axe, as is DD so as long as it's not WorldWarZ type zombies we are good. However I do have a couple of auto immune issues so I don't believe they would want me anyway so I may be fine against both fast AND slow zombies. :o

BestOption · 22/10/2020 20:03

I have not seen the Waking Dead

You lot all sound WAY too energetic. I'd get DP to come home. I'd barricade the front door (needs replacing, currently eeejest entry point) then we'd go in the spare room & eat lots of snacks, drink lots of alcohol and shag ourselves silly until the zombies come and do whatever zombies do. Both in our 50's and know our 'running from Zombies' limit!! Die Happy
