Oliver or Hugo?

Baby due next week and can’t decide. The popularity of Oliver isn’t an issue so doesn’t need to be mentioned. Simply.... which is a nicer sounding name?

I feel like Hugo is fashionable right now, and Oliver is a bit more timeless.

Id go for Oliver.

Hugo, because I don't like the name Ollie and it is usually shortened to that.

Hugo. Not sure how popular it is, I rarely hear it. I like two syllable names though.

Couch25k · 21/10/2020 15:18

Love Hugo. No more babies so I named my car it instead Grin
Hugo the Audi has a nice ring to it Smile

rottiemum88 · 21/10/2020 15:22

Hugo

Admittedly I’m biased as we already have one Grin

SandyGin · 21/10/2020 15:26

Definitely lovely Hugo, but IME be prepared for the nickname Huge!

Hugo is fashionable. DH suggested it for DS3.

But all I can think of is variations of: Hugofuckyourself, Hugothisway, and so on.

Leeds2 · 21/10/2020 15:30

Oliver.

KiposWonderbeasts · 21/10/2020 15:31

Hugo’s much nicer.

clipclop5 · 21/10/2020 15:38

I love the name Oliver, great nicknames come with it too

MitziK · 21/10/2020 15:39

As they've both been used for pets in my childhood, I like both of them.

However, do you prefer Ollie/Ols or Huggy/Hugs as his nickname? Let that guide you.
