FFS Stollen Bites are back and I cannot stop eating them! What's your christmas food downfall?

Why did I buy them? WHY?
Little bites of deliciousness. Already out in the shops in October and now in my cupboard. And soon to be excess weight on my scales.
Sigh.
They are addictive, it's not my fault.
They fell into my basket.
I suspect it will happen multiple times between now and Christmas.

On top of everything else, now the stollen bites are going to make me fat. (Because it has nothing to do with me).

Which Christmas treat is your downfall?

Cadbury's chocolate fingers. I don't eat much chocolate, rarely eat a biscuit, but for some reason I am able to demolish entire packets of them Confused. I only ever have them at Christmas, DM buys them for me Grin

formerbabe · 18/10/2020 19:27

Mince pies...warmed up and served with brandy butter. I am obsessed

Spam88 · 18/10/2020 19:29

Cheeselets are normally my downfall. I just can't stop eating them. I'm really trying to hold off until December this year.

I've already put away three bars of spiced biscuit Ritter sport though. Maybe four.

rockingthelook · 18/10/2020 19:31

Florentines...from Aldi, Lidl...in fact from anywhere!, but have to be crunchy not soggy

Proudling · 18/10/2020 19:32

Mine is my own fault.

Family recipe for chestnut stuffing.

It’s amazing, has practically every food group in it and I make it in large batches that means I just live off constantly snacking on it for days.

doctorhamster · 18/10/2020 19:45

Mince pies warmed up with cream. I don't allow myself to buy any until a week before Christmas otherwise I eat a pack of 6 every 2 days through the whole month Blush

Whathappenedtothelego · 18/10/2020 19:46

Wait, hold on! Spiced biscuit Ritter Sport, Spam88? Tell me more. Where do I get my hands on this?

Spam88 · 18/10/2020 19:48

@Whathappenedtothelego Lidl 👌

OnCandyStripeLegs · 18/10/2020 19:49

Lidl NI say they will have the marzipan praline Favorina bars in from 15 Oct.
Lidl England seems to be totally silent on the issue of them existing at all. Wankers.

nancybotwinbloom · 18/10/2020 19:50

Toffifees!

I know you can get them all yesr but I will only buy them at Christmas As I can eat a pack in one go I love them.

Homemade brandy butter. Or rum butter when the brandy has run out. Baileys at a push.

Then I find baileys, and alcoholic salted caramel cream in supermarkets. Oh MY.

Mince pies with marzipan on top, not a pastry lid, and plenty of filling to go with obscene amounts of the aforementioned butter or cream.

ColleagueFromMars · 18/10/2020 19:54

@Proudling that sounds good! Any chance you will share the recipe please?

SippeeTippee · 18/10/2020 19:55

@LatteLover12 snap. I ate a whole tub over Xmas after I had given birth. It was the closest I came to drinking

J0nah · 18/10/2020 19:56

M&S brandy snaps. 4 flavours; plain, white chocolate, milk chocolate and dark chocolate. I looked for them yesterday but they're not out yet. I don't even like white chocolate but its not sickly. I can't eat a full box. That's them pesky ninja dogs which wake up, pinch them and go back to sleep in a nano second.

Bubbletrouble43 · 18/10/2020 19:57

Fucking pringles. I'll be on a tube a night by mid December, washed down with gin and tonic, and waking at 3am with extreme dehydration.

Bvop · 18/10/2020 19:58

Zimtsterne und Pfeffernuße

amusedbush · 18/10/2020 19:58

I’ve already eaten a bag of iced lebkuchen from Tesco - they’re like crack! Usually I wait until December to buy them but I’ve been doing a lot of ‘treat yo self’ to counteract general 2020 shittiness Blush

MJMG2015 · 18/10/2020 20:00

Lidl & Aldi do the best Lebkuchen & stollen

I'm saving myself this year as I'm shopping online & they don't deliver.

Hands over eyes in case anyone posts other options!!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 18/10/2020 20:01

Mince pies - home made with Delia’s delish mincemeat. Starting 1st Dec I make* 2 dozen far too often. Dh is as much of a 🐷 for them as I am. He’ll demolish half a dozen in 10 minutes.
*First batch always made with carols on, and mulled wine. 🙂🎄

Mrsjayy · 18/10/2020 20:03

Pigs in blankets I had some with camembert last year I might have eaten them all myself Grin

amusedbush · 18/10/2020 20:03

Ooh yeah, also mince pies. The Tesco Finest ones with cognac in them. I add a dollop of extra thick Bailey’s cream if I’m being a real pig Grin

SilenceOfTheEmu · 18/10/2020 20:05

Lebkuchen, pigs in blankets, marzipan, brandy butter (just on it’s own out of the tub Blush)
Also pretty much any m&s party bufffet food. Why is Christmas food the best ever! Grin

WitchFindersAreEverywhere · 18/10/2020 20:08

Stollen and Lebkuchen are the reason I don’t buy Christmas food until December. I’d be entirely pudding-shaped otherwise.

Whathappenedtothelego · 18/10/2020 20:09

@Spam88 thank you! Annoyingly DH was right by Lidl on Thursday but didn't go in (it is a good 45 minutes away).
