FFS Stollen Bites are back and I cannot stop eating them! What's your christmas food downfall?

Why did I buy them? WHY?
Little bites of deliciousness. Already out in the shops in October and now in my cupboard. And soon to be excess weight on my scales.
Sigh.
They are addictive, it's not my fault.
They fell into my basket.
I suspect it will happen multiple times between now and Christmas.

On top of everything else, now the stollen bites are going to make me fat. (Because it has nothing to do with me).

Which Christmas treat is your downfall?

Last year I made my first batch of mince pies in November. I think I should at least wait till December this year.

toiletpaper · 18/10/2020 18:34

Guylian is mine, I eat about three boxes to myself at Christmas and if anyone wants one I'll allow it they get a dirty look from me Grin

toiletpaper · 18/10/2020 18:35

*but they get a dirty look from me

MeetMeInMontauk · 18/10/2020 18:37

The seasonal 'sharing' tins of Mini Cheddars are my Christmas Kryptonite. I can easily demolish one single-handedly within 48 hrs Blush

ComeOnGordon · 18/10/2020 18:37

I limit myself to buying a mini Stollen otherwise I would eat the whole packet of mini bite size ones. This means I have to go to the effort of getting a knife.

Also Spekulatius - German cinammon biscuits. Very moreish

Shodan · 18/10/2020 18:38

Home made mince pies.

And those individual Christmas puddings Blush. Sometimes I have one, with a vat of custard, instead of dinner.

This is why I'm dieting now, to make a weight allowance for it Grin

SlopesOff · 18/10/2020 18:40

Stollen bites sounds like a skin infection.

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 18/10/2020 18:42

Uh so many , stollen bites, mince pies heated with brandy cream , Baileys, cheese boards , hot whiskeys , the list could go on Blush

DCIHoops · 18/10/2020 18:45

Puff pastry mince pies with Rhubarb and custard ice cream are my Christmas irresistible !!!!

My Easter one was iced and spiced buns from M&S, I love them! The buggers now make them all year round ...............

TheVanguardSix · 18/10/2020 18:48

Marzipan filled stollen
Lebkuchen
Zimtsterne
Panettone/pandoro
Bailey’s/Brandy cream in my coffee

TW2013 · 18/10/2020 18:49

Recently found a recipe for gluten free lebkuchen, fortunately though others seem to love them more than me! Looks as if I need to make some gf stollen now too.

Sexnotgender · 18/10/2020 18:50

I’m quite glad I don’t like dried fruit or marzipan or this would be a difficult time of year for my waistline!

MasksGlovesSoapScrubs · 18/10/2020 18:54

Anything I can get my hands on Grin

onlyhereforthefood · 18/10/2020 18:54

Lebkuchen and those danish butter cookies...basically my staple diet between now and January.

Scarby9 · 18/10/2020 18:57

Aldi florentines.

BogRollBOGOF · 18/10/2020 19:00

Mince pies. A box of the 6 delicious bastards contains a half marathon's worth of calories. It's taken me over 2 1/2 hours to run a half marathon today, and a few days to recover. My pb for a box of mince pies is in minutes.
Calories in vs calories out is a bitch.

Then add in stollen bites and liebkuchen...

Suzi888 · 18/10/2020 19:02

OMG they’re back?!?!?!? GrinBlush
mince pies, brandy sauce and Christmas pudding.

I think I need a diet before Christmas Sad

Ilikewinter · 18/10/2020 19:04

Mince pies, Morrisons are my favourite and now on offer so had to buy 2 packs of 6 today......and then I went and found Terrys chocolate orange with cranberry in a bar.....so had 3 of them aswell.

MostDefinitelyNot · 18/10/2020 19:06

Stollen bites sounds like a skin infection.

You'd think that this would put me off but I would still happily shovel an entire pack in my mouth throughout the day.

JustDavesWife · 18/10/2020 19:08

After Eights 🐷 I know you can buy them all year round but at Christmas they are everywhere!!

bakereld · 18/10/2020 19:09

oh, everything! Mince pies, stollen, tubs of Jacob's cheeselets(?), baklava Blush

Onto my second pack of mince pies and it's the 18th of October...

AgeLikeWine · 18/10/2020 19:10

DP bought some at Lidl today, he knows Ao can’t resist them. That’s any hope of maintaining a stable weight buggered until January Grin.

Cam2020 · 18/10/2020 19:17

So many things! Pigs in blanket, lebkuchen, stollen, mince pies, mulled wine, mulled cider, hot chocolate (with a shot of chocolate baileys)... I struggle to think of things I don't like 😳

Emma10702 · 18/10/2020 19:20

Aldi stollen is amazing. I noticed that they have got apple stollen this year too. I got one of each. Stayed strong so far and not opened them. I love the Aldi florentines too. Yummy.

DearTeddyRobinson · 18/10/2020 19:22

Mince pies with icing on top. Sainsbury's do 'em. 10 seconds in the microwave and it's all melty and delicious and oh my god I've put on half a stone Hmm.
Also picked up the most delicious biscuits in ikea yesterday- thin, heart shaped ginger and cinnamon-y amazing Swedish things. Nom.
They come in a lovely red Christmassy tin too. It's like a present to myself Grin
