I'm going to the pub later with my eldest to watch our football team . I really miss going with him to actual matches as it was one of our few catchups (he's 23 ) so am glad he'll still chew the fat with his old mother Grin
DH is going to cook a roast and I'm hoping to head to the gym for the first time since March

I am feeling a bit iffy today knowing that we are going into another lockdown.

Got out in the garden yesterday and will do the same today as it really helps. May go to the gym later as well, as won't be able to for a couple of weeks.

Roast dinner here too, we've got into the habit of having one on a Sunday recently.

Next week I am going to try and spend a bit of money in our local craft-y type shop in the hope that it will help it get through the circuit break.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 18/10/2020 08:59

Hi Bibitty am guessing your here in Wales too
It's Sod's law I've finally gone back to the gym and now it'll close again
I'm on annual leave next week so I'm stocking up on paint and diy stuff as we really won't be going anywhere Sad

I’m planning DIY today - got some painting and varnishing to do.

Then I have a lovely Ready Steady cooking challenge later.

DMCWelshcakes · 18/10/2020 09:08

I'm a Welsh expat who won't be able to visit family again over half term so you have my sympathy.

In happier news, DH just brought me breakfast in bed, the cats have been fed so I'm not being besieged by ravenous kittehs, everyone else has gone to DiddyCakes' football match to set up early & I have the house to myself to watch Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries.

I even have knitting.

It's blissful.

Sat on my new garden furniture wearing my new onesie and wrapped in the lovely new blanket DD chose yesterday watching the birds on the bird feeder and drinking Brew
I may have given this lockdown thing a bit too much time and planning as I can configure sit under the gazebo I bought a few weeks ago all winterGrin
I think I may need to rein in the spending BlushBlushGrin

We are going to have a leisurely brunch. DH is going to potter in the garden and perhaps paint a window or two. I’m going to declutter shoes and then bake muffins and a Victoria sponge. I’m going to cook an easy pasta dish later and drink red wine. Fabulous.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 18/10/2020 09:20

I sat in my local last night ate fish and chips and people watched
It was small groups at tables eating and drinking laughing and smiling, watching footie and just being. Made me so sad as it's what I missed most back in the Spring and what will stop again
People really do need people
I know we're not all raging extroverts but just watching how people interact fascinates me
Sorry will stop musing now
And the fish and chips were delicious Grin

I'm taking my DD to her 'counselling in a field of horses' which is a lovely day out as it is an hour away through countryside. It is the only thing she looks forward to all week.
Then later I am seeing my friend of 35 years for a socially distanced walk.

Strugglingtodomybest · 18/10/2020 09:30

What a lovely idea for a thread!

I've just had a bacon and Philly bagel while sat in the kitchen with the sun streaming through the windows, although now I'm wishing I had wrapped up warm and sat outside like you OP.

I have a dog walk planned for later this afternoon with one of my closest friends, but until then I'm going to get on with decluttering the house. I went and bought some plastic boxes yesterday and because I have such a hard time throwing things away I've decided I'm going to put them in the boxes, label the boxes, and put the boxes in the attic to be dealt with at a later date. It's a start Grin

I'm going to make chicken chow mein for dinner and, hopefully, spend the evening playing with my two teenage boys on their new VR headset.

Pickypolly · 18/10/2020 09:38

Didn’t sleep at all last night soooo that’s actually good because it offers justice to my decision to do little when there is so much bitting at my heals.

DH is chucking together bacon butties & coffee.
Then a bath.
Then maybe lay on my bed & watch a film.
DH can do the food shop & take little ds with him so a lovely quiet house to myself.
Meal plan for the week, oh the culinary possibilities, I just love.
I’ll shove a wash load on.
Then I shall have a large slice of chocolate cake and a nap.
DH will probably make a Sunday roast.

Sunday’s without having to work are a joy.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 18/10/2020 09:41

Ah that's a good reminder need to sort meal plan for the week
Am trying to use up stuff out of the freezer so will have a dig in there later
Does make for some random meals though Grin

Sunday dinner for us here but we're going to the park to feed the ducks while the meat cooks, then back here then this afternoon we've decided to decorate for autumn so are going to our local farm shop to but some different pumpkins and squashes and then get crafting.

Last week of school here before half term hoping fans praying its 1 week and not 2!

bibbitybobbitycats · 18/10/2020 09:54

Hobnobswantshernameback yes, am in Wales too.

This is a lovely thread and v relaxing to read Wine

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/10/2020 10:23

Nice thread. I'm still in bed with a coffee and The Observer. My only plan for today is to get on a train and find a nice walk, with lots of trees. Hoping to get some lovely Autumnal photographs.

No idea what we're going to have for dinner. Maybe a takeaway as we didn't have one on Friday or Saturday, or maybe I'll make some soup or a dhal.

Rae36 · 18/10/2020 10:26

I've got a 250 mile drive ahead of me today, but I'm driving with teenage ds so I'm looking forward to a whole day of his company. He really is a lovely and interesting guy when removed from all the usual day to day arguing about homework and dirty socks and fighting with his siblings.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 18/10/2020 10:37

Agree this thread is lovely and peaceful and relaxing

I have the excitement this afternoon of having a front and forward facing dash cam in my car. After being ripped off by someone a few years ago due to damage they said I did ( I didn’t ) I have always wanted them.
So that’s my afternoon. Sat in halford Grin

Meeeee! I want to join in Smile

Still sitting in PJs drinking coffee. Might have some brunch soon before going out for a walk with my daughter (she chose a scooter ride over the playground today - hooray).

I found some old photos of some very happy times with my lovely friends from when we were young that really brightened my morning. We don't get to see each other as much now we've all got young families and live further away from each other (and the obvious 2020 fun killer I won't name!) although we chat frequently.

GigantosaurusRex · 18/10/2020 11:11

Threads like these really do help to keep me going at night when I can't sleep or am stressing. I go back to them all the time, I loved the ones about handing over worries too. Slow Sunday here, DH will pick up the click and collect later and he's making a roast. I'm going to give the house a cursory clean then get out for a quick walk and have a bath later. Will watch TopGear with DH tonight as some light hearted TV before bed.

Allthedoggos · 18/10/2020 11:13

Done a big clean of the lounge (still feeling ashamed about the state of the skirting boards behind the sofa), got the winter cushions and throws out. Had dippy eggs for breakfast and put a wash on. Ddog snoozing, DH upstairs doing something computery. Had a big win this morning as I got 2 dresses in the Anthropologie sale for £20 each that were £150 to start with. Not that I'll be going anywhere to wear them!

I think I'm going to treat myself to a mooch around TK Maxx in a bit and maybe Hobbycraft. Fish pie for tea tonight.

Also in Wales, already in local lockdown and preparing for the stricter restrictions that are likely to come this week.

EerilyDeleted · 18/10/2020 11:26

Tier 1 here but can't go and visit ILs who are in tier 2 which would be our usual half term plan (it's too far away to chance arranging outdoor meeting at this time of year, we would normally stay for a couple of nights).

Been out for a walk to take photos, collected click and collect shopping, just pausing in the middle of putting it away. Meals for the week are all planned, that's a lockdown habit that I want to stick with.

I'm missing going to the football with my DS too, and the friends we used to go with, we are a group of considerably more than 6 and are quite scattered so haven't met since about Feb. Meeting one of them for a walk tomorrow though as I've got the week off work.
