What gestation did your first baby come?

Totally unscientific research but - what day of gestation did your first baby come? And if it wasn’t spontaneous (planned Caesarian, induction etc) why was that?

Just curious really, at week 36 awaiting number one Smile

40+5 induced

Waters broke at 38+0 but I didn't go into labour, he was born by EMCS after a failed induction at 38+2

39+3

Both spontaneous labour. I always felt I would go over with my first and then that my second was going to be a bit earlier.

Both 8lb exactly but obviously number 1 was in 2wks longer so number 2 was a bigger baby

wendz86 · 18/10/2020 06:58

39+6 . Spontaneous labour started at 39+5 but ended in c section .

cautiouscovidity · 18/10/2020 06:58

T+13 (induced at T+12 for being overdue.

BikeRunSki · 18/10/2020 07:01

Spontaneously at 36+5.

veeboo · 18/10/2020 07:03

37+6 spontaneously

Lardlizard · 18/10/2020 07:05

Spontaneous 37 weeks

Fifthtimelucky · 18/10/2020 07:18

39+2 (waters broke spontaneously)

FolkSongSweet · 18/10/2020 07:24

DC1 40+12, induced. He was born within 3 hours of first contraction so maybe just needed to be kickstarted!

I’m 37 weeks with DC2 and expecting another overdue one, but she’s big so they want to induce me at 40 weeks. Still thinking about that one...

Roselilly36 · 18/10/2020 07:28

39+6

35 weeks with twins. Went in for my antenatal appointment on Monday afternoon, was in surgery for a c-section at 9am Tuesday morning. Consultant said there was no more room for them to grow and they had to be out otherwise it would be life or death for all of us. I wasnt even allowed to leave the hospital to get my already packed bag, I had to call my sister to bring it to me.

Roselilly36 · 18/10/2020 07:32

Yes spontaneous labour, really easy natural birth, 10 hrs labour, only hitch was needed stitches after. 8lb 11oz

DS2 2.5 hrs natural labour, he was at 38+3 9lb 3oz

Spottysausagedogs · 18/10/2020 07:32

38 weeks planned c section because of a frank breech presentation discovered at a private 4D scan. I'm so glad I decided to opt for that scan as the midwife thought my baby's head (which was wedged under my ribs) was her bottom and kept telling me she was perfectly in position. She was stuck head up and never moved from that position from when I had the scan at about 31 weeks.

mindutopia · 18/10/2020 07:33

37+5 (though was 37+2 based on conception date), totally natural spontaneous labour.

Was panicked from 35 weeks that my 2nd would come even earlier, but he wasn’t ready until 40+6.

TeddyBeans · 18/10/2020 07:34

I was induced at 39+1 for preeclampsia and DS came at 39+4. If I hadn't been induced then I probably would have been at 42 weeks cuz DS showed absolutely no signs of being ready to budge

TheTeenageYears · 18/10/2020 07:40

DC1 36+2 - spontaneous & quite likely to have been pre eclampsia

DC2 40+1 - waters broke at 40, delivered a few hours later

Toebarb · 18/10/2020 07:41

41+1, spontaneous labour

crazycatlady7 · 18/10/2020 07:49

39+6, spontaneous- waters broke 39+5 and 2.5hrs later I had my DS

hummusandpitta · 18/10/2020 07:59

36+4, a spontaneous yet very long labour!

CarolVordermansBum · 18/10/2020 08:19

Dc1 38+2
Dc2 40+6
Dc3 39+4
Dc4 40+1

No inductions

glastogal · 18/10/2020 08:22

39+6 - EMCS due to reduced movements

BuffaloCauliflower · 18/10/2020 11:19

Lots of variation, thanks all Smile I know the line is that ‘first babies are usually late’ but discovered that’s actually not supported in the data, and seems to be the case from this small sample too. They come when they come!
