.... and it was so trendy I didn’t even recognise it as trendy. I got confused and assumed I had temporarily time travelled 25 years in the past when the site of this particular Urban Outfitters was in fact a Banardos.

I was brought back to present time by the helpful 17 yr old who could clearly see I was lost in time and asked me if he could help (escort me to the nearest M&S where I clearly belong).

I hope the photos work.

I am aghast, my DD (12) has requested a visit to UO today. I honestly thought OP's photos were of a charity shop. I recently found my original, bright green & purple, shell suit. God knows why I kept it Confused, it is now living in the eves storage!! I will reserve my pursed lips disapproval for when I see the price tickets later today Hmm..

The cool kids have been wearing vintage shell suits for several years already.
My DSD has always been quite an eclectic dresser. She was sporting some jeans from UO last time I saw her, but she doesn't buy new very often. She loves shops where you buy clothes by weight and has picked up some nice things. She is starting to make her own clothes now too.

I can't stand urban outfitters

Haven't rtft but has anyone mentioned the YouTube video of Lewis Capaldi wearing some hideous tracksuit he was sent? It's very funny.

Maireas · 19/10/2020 09:01

We're all screaming hideous (me too!) but I remember a happy time when I would have loved one of those jumpers, and worn them with my baggy cords and my terrible perm. Oh, and when I watched Charles and Diana's wedding, I thought Diana looked beautiful.....

TheOneWhoWalksInTheSun · 19/10/2020 09:23

I think she did look beautiful (despite the dress iyswim.) I thought the older generation in our family were really unreasonable about disliking her dress. Now I see what they meant.

My confusion about decades is maybe because the 90s fashion seemed to use late 70s into early 80s as inspiration and some of us were still wearing that into the late 80s.

(Now I'm still wearing bootcut jeans which haven't worn out..)

I never bought a shell suit because I wore mostly grey at the time AND I kept thinking they'd go out of fashion very fast! 😂

@TheOneWhoWalksInTheSun

Pie crust collars have been spotted. Surely grandad collars have to follow?
Uh oh. Did grandad collars go out, then?

I keep clothes for far too long.
