When do you decorate your home for Halloween and start crafts etc?

Usually a day or so before. I love it

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 10/10/2020 18:18

Its usually a week before and taken down a week later

This year its going to be on the 23rd 😳

LongPauseNoAnswer · 10/10/2020 18:20

We usually do it on the 23rd or 24th. Not motivated this year seeing as we won’t have any children calling and we don’t have little ones at home.

Usually first week in October (pumpkins on doorstep and white pumpkins and few bits inside)
The dc love it. I have pumpkin cushion covers etc Grin watch too many Autumn decor videos on youtube I guess!!

Yes around a week before and takedown a week after.

Lots of gentle cats... Witches etc..

Sittin · 10/10/2020 18:52

Um, never. Is this really a thing most people do as a matter of routine? I’ve only done it when dcs were little and we had a Halloween tea party.

Audreyseyebrows · 10/10/2020 18:54

I don’t.

Belindabelle · 10/10/2020 18:54

For Halloween itself on the day unless we are having a party the weekend before.

However my Autumn decorations start going up from late September. This year I am fully Autumnised already. The house is awash with pumpkins, lanterns, candles, confers and foliage. The scent of orange and cinnamon is everywhere. This is by far my favourite time of year.

blackteaplease · 10/10/2020 18:56

I think probably the 24th this year, schools break up on 23rd and the kids will need entertaining. We've planned a long list of crafts and decorations already.

CraftyGin · 10/10/2020 18:56

Never.

PetNameChange · 10/10/2020 18:59

Start crafty stuff on the 30th...
Decorating done on the 31st...including pumpkins
Everything down either late on 31st or the 1st 🤷‍♀️

Kids are getting super excited as we are having a Halloween 🎃 party at home (me, Dh & the kids maybe my parents 🤷‍♀️) first party they have been too this year

RightOnTheEdge · 10/10/2020 18:59

I've only ever decorated on the day and taken them down the next morning.
Everyone around here does the same. I've never seen it done earlier.

Suzi888 · 10/10/2020 19:03

On the day, possibly the day before due to covid boredom!

ohidoliketobe · 10/10/2020 19:04

Usually. Only around 28/29th and take it down on 1st, but the kids are bit sad about not being able to go trick or treating around our street (before anyone starts on the TOT debate - we only go to houses of people we know which are decorated and know are accepting trick or treaters), so will do it the weekend before.
We do pumpkins, 'do not enter' hazard tape over the gate and front door, cobwebs on the bushes and some fake bones/ headstones and lanterns. My DS loves Halloween more than any other event (Christmas, birthday) so we really get into it.

stargirl1701 · 10/10/2020 19:04

We carve neeps and a pumpkin the evening before.

doctorhamster · 10/10/2020 19:05

Never

FlyingApples · 10/10/2020 19:06

On 31 October, or not at all

Letsleepingdogslie8 · 10/10/2020 19:07

Never. Didn’t realise it was a thing unless you were having a party.

VettiyaIruken · 10/10/2020 19:07

I do the pumpkins on the 30th and put the decorations out about 4 pm on Halloween
Everything is taken down first thing in the morning.

slipperywhensparticus · 10/10/2020 19:11

I have black cats and black cat decorations so to be fair mine is year round

WinifredSanderson · 10/10/2020 19:16

1st of October and it comes down 1st November. We love it 🎃

CMOTDibbler · 10/10/2020 19:16

Ddog1 has his Halloween coat from the second weekend, and the dogs both have their Halloween collars on. But that's it

Mistymonday · 10/10/2020 19:21

Never?

Namechange170518 · 10/10/2020 19:30

Erm, last weekend!

My logic is that some people think its ok to decorate for Christmas at some time in November so beginning of October is fine for Halloween.

Much prefer Halloween to xmas though....
