Teachers know what's happening but can't tell us

As members of the elite teachers are automatically told things by the government and instructed not to tell us little, marginalised folk.

They probably have secret briefings. Either that or elite champagne cocktail parties where they network with each other and exchange information about what the next lockdown rules will be.

The only reason ordinary people don't know exactly what is going to happen with lockdown rules tomorrow, next week, next month is that we are considered too lowly to be told.

I'm going to keep on starting threads until someone spills the beans and admits that they know there's going to be an October lock down.

I agree OP, I do a massive eye roll at all the “well we’ve been told by school to prepare for another lockdown” etc - no you bloody haven’t, they’re putting in place plans they’re legally required to have and no more! We don’t have a fucking clue what’s going on, we don’t get one second warning before the general public let alone weeks and weeks in advance.

There are enough heads on Twitter who wouldn’t keep a secret to trust that they’re not privy to any special info either - in fact many heads would think it morally wrong to keep any advance warning to themselves.

Things I know as a teacher that the general public might not know:
  • We get an "essential worker code" to get priority testing so we can get back to work sooner.
  • Which students/staff are positive/isolating.
That's it. Every, single other thing is something I've found out from the news.
NerrSnerr · 07/10/2020 20:12

It's a worry that so many people couldn't tell the OP was joking.

So many people spectacularly missing the joke. If you need it spelling out the OP is taking the piss because of the hundreds of threads asking if the schools are shutting over half term etc. It must have been a long day for many of you.

OverTheRainbow88 · 07/10/2020 20:13

Yes, Boris called me this morning at school, and shared his plans.

DellaDoo · 07/10/2020 20:13

Ah, people are being disingenuous.

Colleague was told by a couple of local schools they would be in lockdown, before any announcement.
They were told as a courtesy, in secret, as it affected our business.

So you are correct

Daydreamsinglorioustechnicolor · 07/10/2020 20:13

The more people go on about an October lockdown, the more power it gets as a rumour, the more you hear it, the more power it gets and so on.
No one knows any better than anyone else on this!

RepeatSwan · 07/10/2020 20:13

Our head looked a bit frazzled and said they had no clue what was coming next, but presumably this was just a bluff to keep me in ignorance Grin

StillWeRise · 07/10/2020 20:14

@EvaHoffman you should have kept it going longer Grin
Now we'll see who only reads the OP and not the FT

BikerWife · 07/10/2020 20:14

Please can someone get me a fake teacher ID so I can get into the elite cocktail parties? Wine

Nomnomarrgh · 07/10/2020 20:14

Thank you for giving me a giggle. I felt so sorry for the school in the summer trying to make sense out of the nonsense the government was coming up with.

Glitterynails · 07/10/2020 20:14
Grin
SleepingStandingUp · 07/10/2020 20:14

It's true op, my son's 121 had dinner with Boris only last week to discuss what his plans are

GravityFalls · 07/10/2020 20:14

I don’t know which students/staff are isolating in my place. Only if they happen to be in my class. I don’t know who the student was who tested positive or what class they were in 🤷‍♀️

BabyLlamaZen · 07/10/2020 20:15

You really need to spend a day in school. You have no idea.

looseddaughter · 07/10/2020 20:15

How could so many people have missed the joke - including those who knew from past posts the OP is a teacher?! Shock

NerrSnerr · 07/10/2020 20:15

Saying that though- champagne cocktail parties, finishing work at 3.30 and long holidays- I'm definitely changing careers! Before I get shouted at it's a joke- teachers work long hours and I bloody love them as they do a brilliant job

Piggywaspushed · 07/10/2020 20:15

Tbh biker, I busied myself smelling the milk in the fridge today to check if it was still OK to bathe in for a cup of tea.

Percypiglets · 07/10/2020 20:15

Why the fuck would we know 😂 we're never told a fucking thing! Apparently we're immune Hmm but no one's officially told us....

DiddlySquatty · 07/10/2020 20:15

😂
I definitely have teacher friends that are very indiscreet. If they know... I’d know 😂
And I think you’re giving the government a tiny bit too much credit in terms of how organised they are and how much they knew what they’re doing.... 😂

Bluewavescrashing · 07/10/2020 20:15

Maybe the joke is a bit shit?

ktp100 · 07/10/2020 20:16

As a teacher I can confirm you are talking utter bollocks and add that every other teacher I know hates this elitist government with a burning passion so would rather throw themselves on hot pokers than quoff champagne with the supposed 'elite' twunts.

Stop sniffing the glue!!

GravityFalls · 07/10/2020 20:16

Colleague was told by a couple of local schools they would be in lockdown, before any announcement.
They were told as a courtesy, in secret, as it affected our business.*

That was an educated guess (which was easy to make just before March 20th.) They did NOT know for certain, but we all knew it was coming just from reading the news.

MrsNotNice · 07/10/2020 20:17

My mum is a teacher and I’m a SAHM and I seem to know more than her believe me

TheVanguardSix · 07/10/2020 20:17

Teachers deserve elite champagne cocktail parties!

Audreyseyebrows · 07/10/2020 20:17

You should hear the information us nurses have op Wink

Keep your champagne, I have cold tea.
