Teachers know what's happening but can't tell us

As members of the elite teachers are automatically told things by the government and instructed not to tell us little, marginalised folk.

They probably have secret briefings. Either that or elite champagne cocktail parties where they network with each other and exchange information about what the next lockdown rules will be.

The only reason ordinary people don't know exactly what is going to happen with lockdown rules tomorrow, next week, next month is that we are considered too lowly to be told.

I'm going to keep on starting threads until someone spills the beans and admits that they know there's going to be an October lock down.

And yet yesterday you posted this:

Teachers don't know anything more than anyone else though. It's not like we are getting secret briefings. Teachers are getting prepared just in case

So which is it?

EvaHoffman · 07/10/2020 19:54

I am a teacher and I'm joking.

There are so many threads on here
asking if schools 'know' whether there is going to be a lockdown as if anybody in a school has access to different information to anybody else.

I find it irritating because it feeds into the idea that teachers are privileged in some way. It also doesn't make sense because covid policies aren't planned like a narrative in advance. They are planned in reaction to events.

As well as being a teacher I live with someone whose job it is to know all about covid policies. Somebody who you might contact to ask for information. Even she doesn't know what's happening next.

Oooooo I'm a member of the elite.

Bollox. I'm a slave to society's ills.

Soapysoap · 07/10/2020 19:55

How are so many people missing the satire here? 🤣🤣

monkeytennis97 · 07/10/2020 19:56

@EvaHoffman ahhh you're one of us.Grin

midgebabe · 07/10/2020 19:56

If they spill the beans, will they be first up the beanstalk to find the golden goose?

justaweeone · 07/10/2020 19:56

I'm more worried about how cold we are in schools at the moment!

monkeytennis97 · 07/10/2020 19:58

@Soapysoap I only read the first 5 words of the OP.... did exactly the opposite of what I tell kids to doGrin

midnightstar66 · 07/10/2020 19:58

In March our head teacher found out the schools were closing from sky news! Scotland is not closing schools over half term so I doubt England will either!

midnightstar66 · 07/10/2020 19:58

Obviously they are closing AT half term but not extras lol

samosamimosa · 07/10/2020 19:59

Sorry I didn't reply earlier, the champagne reception went on all day. I just hope my class got on with their work as the caretaker had to supervise them. You'd be amazed to hear what is happening next, it's radical to say the least.

reefedsail · 07/10/2020 19:59

It's a worry that so many people couldn't tell the OP was joking. Confused

QuacksInTheDark · 07/10/2020 20:00

Okey dokey 👍🏻

DilemmaDerby · 07/10/2020 20:00

Knew this had to be fake because my teacher sister looks just as fucking miserable as she always did, she’d be dancing round the garden with sparklers if it were true

EvaHoffman · 07/10/2020 20:01

Don't tell the little folk samosa I'm hoping to make it to my country pile without too many oiks cluttering up the motorway.

BikerWife · 07/10/2020 20:01

If its any consolation I'm a nurse and family, friends and acquaintances ask me on a daily basis will there be a second wave, how bad will the second wave be, will there be more deaths than the first wave, will we be in lockdown over winter, will the NHS cope, when will the vaccine be... I'm like fucking hell I'm a junior sister not the NHS answer to mystic Meg Grin

DailyLotion · 07/10/2020 20:02

Teachers have obviously been failing abysmally for decades, judging by the number who didn't see this thread for what it is Grin

monkeytennis97 · 07/10/2020 20:02

@BikerWife GrinGrin

FunnysInLaJardin · 07/10/2020 20:05

hilarious Grin

DH is a teacher and only finds out the inside onto when its on the news!

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 07/10/2020 20:06

Well as my headteacher leaves me to check all her emails I guess I’ll know before her then!

Of course the schools don’t know anything. We can guess and speculate the same as everyone else but we found out about schools closing in March at the same time as everyone else by watching the PMs briefing on the TV.

Excellent OP! I get asked all the time for the inside info on the next LD because DH is a teacher. I DON'T KNOW!
BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 07/10/2020 20:09

Ooops! Note to self, don’t start commenting then go and deal with “Mum where is....” before hitting post..... that way you miss the key post from OP.

Varjakpaw · 07/10/2020 20:09

😂😂😂

Piggywaspushed · 07/10/2020 20:09

I am really too tired to go to a champagne cocktail party OP so I may have missed out on the crucial top secret information. No bubbles anywhere in education, as a general rule.

Sorry.

Impatientwino · 07/10/2020 20:10

"elite champagne cocktail parties"

I've never considered teaching but I might have to if this is a thing GrinWine
