What would you like for Christmas?

I know, I know but for various reasons I'm having to buy Christmas presents sooner rather than later. As part of this, I need to work out what I want for Christmas - except I'm a bit stumped. Normally, I'd ask for vouchers for DH and I to spend time doing things together for thanks to the pandemic this is somewhat out.

So, in the hopes of gaining inspiration, what would you like for Christmas?

Honestly, over the last year or so I have realised how much stuff I have and how much stuff I do not need.

For Christmas this year I would love some quirky second +++ hand book (covid treated etc). My birthday was last month and I got some great gifts but a friend of mine who lives over a book shop bought me this funny book of etiquette.

MrPanks · 05/10/2020 21:27

Great thread OP. Loved everyone's lists.

We're skint this year, so mine is pure fantasy:
A Dyson hairdryer
Cashmere socks
Luxury bath and candle stuff - Jo Malone kind of thing
Liberty print fabric fish
Silk PJs
Silk pillowcase
A top of the range new Kindle and an Audible subscription

I can dream...

DXBMermaid · 06/10/2020 08:30

A diamond ear cuff or a rose gold chain necklace.

An essential oil starter kit

A longchamp Amazone handbag

New cutlery set

But actually I'd give all of that and more up to be able to see my parents. I live abroad and have not seen my Mum&Dad since last year August and I miss them terribly.

I would love the Lego Death Star, but at £400 there is no way it can be justified! I can dream though...

shinynewapple2020 · 06/10/2020 14:45

A soft cuddly bathrobe
Some fleecy pyjamas with a v neck (anyone seen any??)
Slipper boots
Booja booja truffles
Body shop argon oil body butter
A silver necklace with a blue glass pendant

No books this year as I have finally started using the kindle that DH bought about 10 years ago and I love it !

Have just bought myself a L'occitane advent calendar for a month of little treats .

kittensarecute · 06/10/2020 14:50

Covid to be over and my normal life back with no restrictions. Sorry to bring the thread down but there's honestly nothing else I want or need.

XiCi · 06/10/2020 16:15

I think it goes without saying that everyone wants covid to be over

Loving this thread. I'm unlikely to be out browsing round shops this year (in a lockdown area) so I've been given instructions by my mum to order things for myself online. Some great ideas here.
I've been browsing Fortnum and Mason and would love some of their Earl Grey Tea and chocolate creams. Also a set of Marseille soaps.

@MinnieAnonyMouse

There is a website called diamond jewellery United that sell enhanced diamonds.

Basically natural mined diamonds treated with lasers to remove carbon and then filled.

They are a lot cheaper than non enhanced because they are treated.

It may be a way of getting your diamond earrings!

NancyBotwinBloom · 06/10/2020 16:23

@Mayvis

L'interdit is gorgeous isn't it.

Have you tried Givenchy Libre? It smells very very similar to me.

I can't decide which one I prefer.

kennycat · 06/10/2020 16:29

I genuinely don’t want anything (unless anyone wants to buy me a massive house or a new car) and get really stressed thinking about where I’m going to put any new items that come into my house.
So I guess just food and drink if people are despair to buy me anything.
I know My mum loves giving gifts but I don’t flipping want any!!

I realise may be odd in feeling like this. I get embarrassed opening presents.

Walkthroughthefire · 06/10/2020 17:32

A heated faux fur blanket/throw
Salt crystal lamps
Posh chocs
Books, always books
Harris gin
Lush bath bombs

MinnieAnonyMouse · 06/10/2020 19:57

Thanks NancyBotwinBloom, I will check them out!!

I don't think anybody would choose presents over covid going but unfortunately that's not in our control whereas this is (to a degree!) and at least gives people something nice to think about.

I agree with a pp - I'm a nightmare to buy for because generally if I want something I buy it. Plus I'm currently losing weight (clothes out), have sensitive skin meaning I stick to my stuff (which is cheap) and have a plethora of fuzzy blankets!

Belly button duster it is then

@NancyBotwinBloom

No I haven’t, I will look for it next time I venture to the shops though.

SurreyHillsGirl · 06/10/2020 23:04

A new snowboard.. current one is shot to pieces

A Garmin watch

Some luxury loungewear, this would usually consist of a cashmere hoodie and socks but I have recently learned that the cashmere fleece is taken from baby goats and they often due of cold exposure afterwards Sad so cashmere anything is off my Christmas list this year. My comfort is not worth a guilty conscience!

@loubieloo4
Hope you get your wish Flowers

This is what I'd like

IceniWarrior · 07/10/2020 07:08

I really want a round faced fitness watch that can track hikes, runs, martial arts sessions but they all look too big on my wrist (,under 5 foot). Any ideas? Not bothered about messages, calls etc.

A hedgehog pot hanger

serialreturner · 07/10/2020 07:17

@ohdearmymistake

Trauchled

Same, all I really want is for all my family to be here, I don't care about presents.

We live in Scotland, from NI.

Haven't seen family since mid March - so desperate to go home but just can't face getting on a plane or a ferry, so here we are.

I'm doing:

Big C&C from M&S with lovely food and snacks. Trying to avoid alcohol so lots of AF treat drinks.

I'd love some cashmere loungewear but too much £ so far.

New jammies are always on the list. I may have already bought mine
Really rich body cream. Stuff for the bath.

Diamond ear-rings would be great.
Any ear-rings in fact. Check Etsy for some quirky stuff.
I'm going to try to focus on the local shops round here - they're all struggling so anything handy without heading into town on the train would be good.

DD wants her ears pierced. She's only 7 so that Is Not Happening.

DH: a hoody and some silly socks I think, along with beard oil/stuff.

DD: No bloody idea. Relatives all go wild so I'd like to think Santa keeps the heid and calms it down a bit.

Lego Friends?
Fairy lights for her room...... and a few stocking fillers.

After this year so far, I really just want a quiet time and a lack of spending ££££££££££££.

serialreturner · 07/10/2020 07:19

@Latenightreader

I would love the Lego Death Star, but at £400 there is no way it can be justified! I can dream though...
My friend bought it for her then 5 year old and was so obsessed the poor child wasn't even allowed to play with it or build it!

(she does laugh at this)

TerpsichoreanMuse · 07/10/2020 07:25

SPD bike shoes, possibly Fizik
Merino anything
A 3D printer
Cheese making supplies
Tonal workout machine
A decent Goretex shell that doesn't let in rain in the heaviest downpour
A house rental all winter in the wine district of South Africa so I can ride my bike in the sun

TerpsichoreanMuse · 07/10/2020 07:27

@IceniWarrior I'm looking for a similar thing, though don't care about round faced. A new Polar watch is coming in the next few days which sounds interesting from the teasers.

Chocolateteabag · 07/10/2020 07:28

@AestheticWitch - if you are a student (or know one who would do this for you) Totum were doing a discount on certain Garmin watches including Venu - about 40% off if I remember correctly - still £££ but a big saving

AestheticWitch · 07/10/2020 11:21

@Chocolateteabag Sadly not but thank for the tip anyway!

Matilda2013 · 11/10/2020 21:13

@AestheticWitch do you know any Blue Light Card holders? They also have an up to 40% discount

bloodywhitecat · 11/10/2020 21:15

DP recovered from his surgery for pancreatic cancer and a good prognosis for him.
