ADs crave hotel breakfasts garnished with phallic strawberries

Oh for the good old days of a breakfast buffet.

Back when you could make plans and reasonably expect them to happen. When you could turn up spontaneously and browse or linger at your leisure. When you could meet whoever you like and give them a hug

But until those days return, here's some more AD chat about life, the universe and phallic fruits...

@maudesmum
That sounds lovely. Used to take the DC's for a walk to see the houses lit up here just before Christmas = cheap entertainment!

I also like the idea of Hallow'een sweets on a zip wire. What about a fishing rod? Or in keeping with the scary theme, a rubber-gloved *hand poking a fun size mars bar out through the letter box? Lots of ideas that don't require any opening of the front door!

*(glove to be bleached between use. Well, you can't be too careful).

WalesAppearsToBeSlightlySaner · 03/10/2020 15:08

@Hobnobswantshernameback - I live near roath park! To be fair Cardiff is ok but I was loving meeting people inside and not wearing masks and now it’s all been taken away. Currently getting drunk in town 😂

Willow2017 · 03/10/2020 15:19

@LivinLaVidaLoki

Well, I just took the bait on my friend's Facebook. (I've a friend who works in a care home, and does domiciliary care who's on hols in a quarantine area but is trying to get out of it by having a test and then hoping to go back to work). She posted something along the lines of people need to stop telling her to quarantine, she'll take a negative test once she gets back and she'll be fine to go back to work. She can't afford 2 weeks unpaid so people should stop being so "fucking horrible". Cue lots of "awwww hun you deserve this break, ignore the haters" So I just responded "Quarantine, don't quarantine...none of my business, you're a grown woman but if you get a negative test, then go on to develop covid (it can take up to 14 days) I hope you can bloody well live with the consequences on the people you proclaim to care so much about. Also, you can now stop posting ppe selfies "please wear your masks", "think of all of us on the frontline" and "please take this seriously" when you are willing to potentially kill these people rather than lose a holiday or take a hit in pay. You are a fucking hypocrite and a thick one to boot to post this all over Facebook. I hope your employer does the decent thing and sends you home."
Good for you. There is a time and place for our own risk assessing which as we know on here has always been considerate of other people but that isn't. How dare she preach about masks and shit then willingly put her clients at risk no matter how small. It's a pia to have to isolate but I couldn't risk going into a vulnerable persons home knowing I could be infectious. She should have factored that into her holiday in that type of job.

I actually had to double check this wasn’t a parody account. It is sadly very real. The only good thing is the tweet has been 100% ratiod.

Found you all.

Boring day of cleaning and sorting out the cupboards of 'many things' 😆. I now have slightly more organised cupboards.

Now I need to read back to see what I have missed.

What a fecking jobsworth! It's ridiculous but then 4 minutes is all the virus needs to fly into the restaurant and attack that customer after being banned from entering until 10pm!

Thought this applied to most of the miserable ones on MN..

I do think that sums up some people. You know the ones that find no joy from life and want to make sure others don't either.

ISaySteadyOn · 03/10/2020 16:13

You know what? I feel a whole lot of my joy in life has gone but, for me, that means I need other people to be having fun so that I know it will be possible again. I would never want to take anyone's joy away. We need more not less!

WalesAppearsToBeSlightlySaner · 03/10/2020 16:22

@LivinLaVidaLoki I completely agree. Do what you want but don’t judge others!

Bollss · 03/10/2020 16:28

@LivinLaVidaLoki

Does this mean I lose my AD badge? I'm generally quite critical of the roolz but her recklessness and fucking hypocrisy are just too much.
No I think you've got a good point. If she worked in an office sat 2m away from people I wouldn't give a shit but the people she's seeing will be vulnerable. V different. Where has she been?
DisgruntledGuineaPig · 03/10/2020 16:40

I must say the trick or treat thread has really shown up something I suspected- there are many posters saying that is right that trick or treating is banned this year due to covid, but then also that they always hate it, think it should be permanently banned, no good parent should join in with the American import etc.

Its so clear that many people who zrr are shouting for restrictions, its because they are using covid for an excuse to try change society to the way they'd like.

Eg. They never liked being expected to shake hands/kiss hello, so like that it's banned so they dont have to look rude to behave the way they always wanted to.

Shops that never liked having to staff changing rooms enjoy the excuse not to.

People who always hated childrens parties are happy they don't have to feel guilty their dcs are missing out because no one can have one.

People who don't like big family christmas get-togethers are happy they have thr excuse to opt out.

And these people are all really angry at the idea others want to go back to how things where before or talk about the mental health implications of changes, because they would like this to be a permanent change to society.

Willow2017 · 03/10/2020 16:51

DisgruntledGuinesPig
That's probably very true. I dont like it so nobody else should do it either.
Pathetic.

110APiccadilly · 03/10/2020 16:53

You know what? I'm actually not a huge fan of trick or treat. I don't like ghoulishness. So I don't do stuff like decorating the house, I just get in some sweets for any children who knock. I much prefer Guy Fawkes Night!

However... the kind of person who's smug about kids not being allowed to do Trick and Treat in a year that's been absolutely rubbish for kids is far more ghoulish than anything you could come up with for Halloween.

starfish88 · 03/10/2020 16:56

Not to TAAT but there was a thread the other day about 'if you could never have been born, would you?' or something to that effect and the answers there showed how few people on here seem to get any joy out of life. It was quite heartbreaking.

NeedWineNow · 03/10/2020 17:12

Phew I've found you!

Willow2017 · 03/10/2020 17:15

Well I am filling up on sweets and will be putting out decorations. I cannot see that there will be no kids out round here. I might not get so many pumpkins as usual and put myself through so much angst carving them but will definately be prepared. I hope as many come as usual.

I am staying off the new halloween thread, repeating myself to all the joy suckers and ill informed is becoming boring.

Orangeblossom7777 · 03/10/2020 17:19

I do think that some of this stuff can be used in a way to your advantage- for example

annoying relatives- don't have to see them
annoying work colleagues- can work from home
don't have to do parent's evenings, appointments-on phone / internet

However it is good to have some kind of choice...I'm quite introverted and get stressed in crowds and busy places so kind of glad to not have that as much, but appreciate others are different and what is OK for me might not be for others. And I find the masks tricky.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 03/10/2020 17:52

@TrustTheGeneGenie Spain. She booked her hotel and flight independently, so if she cancelled she'd lose the money for the flight as it was still flying there.

Ah right so it's not even like she was there and the restrictions came in she went knowing she'd have to quarantine. Nah, your definitely right.

Orangeblossom7777 · 03/10/2020 18:07

Oh dear... I read this today and thought I was quite looking forward to Christmas just us (have never had that before!)

"The rule of six could be relaxed for Christmas, Boris Johnson has hinted.

The prime minister said he would do “everything we can” to allow extended families to spend Christmas together."

www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/news/too-early-to-say-if-virus-outbreak-is-slowing-ons-finds-d8lwp00xt

I find it quite stressful the run up and expectations around Christmas.

Just do it anyway!! We did a couple of years ago and are doing this year. I loved it to be honest. No expectations no rushing around. If that's what you want to do, sod everyone else and do it.
DisgruntledGuineaPig · 03/10/2020 18:29

See, I'm going to miss the festive season of parties, meals out, drinks with different groups, actual Christmas day with the in laws I dont mind missing, id just like the new frock events.

Its ridiculous we don't have to socially distance at work but can't go out as a group for our annual meal.
