I’ll start by saying I’ve suffered with anxiety and chronic insomnia in the past but have been doing really well recently.

Thai afternoon a woman walking past our house stopped and took a photo of our front door and then our car. Why would a stranger do that?

I can’t stop thinking that something bad is going to happen tonight, a break in or a fire. Dh is working a late shift and I’m here with our teens. I have to be up early so have come to bed but I can’t relax.

I’ll be ok won’t I?

She probably just liked them and wanted to remember them - we were looking to paint our front door recently and took loads of photos of peoples front doors when we liked the colour. Never occurred to me it could freak someone out but I can see how it could. I think this is more likely to be a testament to your good taste than anything else! Anxiety is terrible but don’t let this derail you. Xxx

YouBoggleMyMind · 30/09/2020 22:33

Would reporting it to the police help with the anxiety?

awishes · 30/09/2020 22:33

Yes you will I'm sure.
I have no idea why she would have done that but try not to worry. Go to bed thinking about something nice and before you know it you will be starting another day!

WunWun · 30/09/2020 22:34

Maybe she was talking a selfie?

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 30/09/2020 22:36

I doubt she liked our door, it’s bog standard and the same as all the neighbours.

Ironically Dh is a police officer and I phoned him but he said there wasn’t really anything to report.

Thatbliddywoman · 30/09/2020 22:36

I've done this before when I've liked their door/door furniture/ something similar. Id hate to think anyone's anxiety would have been triggered by it Sad
Im sure it wasnt anything sinister OP. Done so openly.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 30/09/2020 22:37

Is your car the type that might be stolen to order? If so then it might be wise to be alert to it. Can you park it in the garage for a couple of nights until you can get hold of one of those key pouches that blocks would-be-robbers from using the signal to remotely open it? Otherwise put the key in a box at the other end of the house to the car.

If you’re car isn’t particular sporty or special then it could well be as Pp said, someone just liked the look of it, but it does seem odd.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 30/09/2020 22:38

@WunWun

Maybe she was talking a selfie?
I would love it if this were true. I presumed not as it was raining and she looked like she was on way back from a dog walk.
OP posts:
Divebar · 30/09/2020 22:38

Are you sure it wasn’t a selfie?

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 30/09/2020 22:38

*your

emelsie · 30/09/2020 22:38

Are you sure she wasn't taking selfie's and the angle she was moving at the camera( to get good light) looked as though it was at your front door or car ? I definitely wouldn't worry about it , easier said than done, but I'm sure if someone was up to something sinister they would be more discreet than that.

Yaottie · 30/09/2020 22:39

Could she have been checking Google maps?

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 30/09/2020 22:40

Hmm car is a possibility. It’s not sporty but is expensive, it’s a lease though, we aren’t rich!

Toddlerteaplease · 30/09/2020 22:40

A neighbour once told me that men in hoodies had been looking up
At my house. (Was in a cul de sac. ) that made feel feel really anxious for weeks afterwards. And I don't have anxiety. So I totally get it OP. Hopefully she was just taking a selfie.

CucumberFacePot · 30/09/2020 22:44

My local council took pictures of my house as someone had made a complaint about a bush in our front garden which was apparently too large (it really wasn't but that's another story! 🙄) Could it be something like that? Or a parking issue that the council are involved in?

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 30/09/2020 22:46

She was youngish with a raincoat and joggers on, and a dog.

OP posts:
GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 30/09/2020 22:47

I do feel better though, there’s a million reasons why she might have done this.

Pokemon go?

Herdwick · 30/09/2020 22:50

@JacobReesMogadishu

Pokemon go?
It's going to be Pokemon isn't it. OP is there worrying about people taking pictures when actually it's just going to be some idiot waving their phone about trying to catch pikachu Grin
essexmum777 · 30/09/2020 22:54

Breathe, has anything happened in the past that has left you with anxiety?

BrazenlyDefying · 30/09/2020 22:54

Pokemon go was my first thought. Or the similar harry potter game.

ShellsAndSunrises · 30/09/2020 22:54

I presumed not as it was raining and she looked like she was on way back from a dog walk.

I have definitely taken “look at how soaked I’m getting” selfies while I’ve walked the dog in joggers... it’s quite likely she was doing the same! Or that she liked your car. That’s far more likely than you caught her doing something dodgy, but I’d be anxious too Flowers

Runningdownthathill · 30/09/2020 22:55

Putting your car keys in a tin stops the signal being picked up remotely. I’m sure there is nothing to worry about.

maverickallthetime · 30/09/2020 22:56

@ShellsAndSunrises I do selfies like that too! Glad I'm not alone 😂

Alternista · 30/09/2020 22:56

Selfie I reckon.
