Where can I get a hoody without a hood?

Dd has to wear PE kit all day once a week. As it’s a t shirt & a short skirt school have said they can wear it with a plain navy zip up top but it must not have a hood (school also said pandemic or no pandemic we will not less dress standards slip!!)
Where can I get a hoody without a hood? Needs to be warm but not fleece & must be plain navy (in ladies size, dd is age 15)

@chuppachupchup

Where have others bought them from?? Confused
At the moment they haven’t, a couple of kids got in trouble last week for having hoods, most didn’t have anything because the weather was still warm.

Taking a hood off a hoodie isn't as easy as you think. I sew (a lot), and have made many hoodies and sweatshirts, and the cut of the pattern is often very different. Even if you managed to open the neck seam neatly and close it again sensibly (unlikely to have success with both of those), you'd most likely be left with a very odd shaped garment. I imagine the construction of a £5 primark hoodie would not lend itself to that kind of alteration either.

Looks like you've got a number of viable alternatives now anyway, but in case you were considering altering a hoodie, I really wouldn't...

Oh god my daughter starts secondary next year and I am dreading having to navigate pointless illogical uniform rules, this is not reassuring!

nancy75 · 29/09/2020 11:11

daisyjgrey don’t panic, I don’t think they are all this fussy!
Dds school has always been strict on uniform but we got a new head about a year ago & she is obsessed! It’s a shame, she’s done loads of really great things for the school & generally I really like her but some of the uniform rules are just crazy.

Ask the school where they expect you to get one from. If they are demanding something unbelievably specific that it's practically a unicorn then they should be advising parents where to buy them from.

Uniform policies in some schools border on the totally insane. (And I say this as an ex-teacher. I can't even tell you how much teaching time was wasted policing uniform, checking top buttons were done up and everyone had the acceptable number of stripes on their tie showing... ffs. 🙄

@TheUnwindingCableCar

Blazwers don't have zips though do they so I'm confused by the schools reply
No but you don't take them off over your head like a jumper or half zip top which is (I'm assuming) what the school wants to avoid.

@Chocolateteabag

OP - don't want to come over as sarky but as I posted right at the start, could you not just get the £5 Primark one and do a careful sewing job on it? Would be the cheapest option?
But you can't just chop the hood off because of the way they're set into the seam.

I've not read the full thread but googling 'hoodless zip up sweatshirt' has brought up a good few suggestions which look like they might work

Would she get away with this ?
