Where can I get a hoody without a hood?

Dd has to wear PE kit all day once a week. As it’s a t shirt & a short skirt school have said they can wear it with a plain navy zip up top but it must not have a hood (school also said pandemic or no pandemic we will not less dress standards slip!!)
Where can I get a hoody without a hood? Needs to be warm but not fleece & must be plain navy (in ladies size, dd is age 15)

My DSD has various ones from Adidas, Nike, Umbro and Canterbury. Sports Direct, M&M, and JD may be helpful.

The base layers are half zip, it’s not allowed to go over the head, it’s got to be like a cardigan (but not allowed a cardigan!)
I’m going to try the Bonmarché one & hope it’s not too much like a coat.

Next week I will be looking to buy a live unicorn as requested by the school...

Decathlon good shout:

this

nancy75 · 29/09/2020 00:08

Decathlon would be fine but it’s not plain, Adidas one will be ok, I’m going to see if I can get away with the 14 quid Bonmarché one first - I’d rather not spend £50 on a PE top!

Search for full zip fleece and there are lots without a hood. I prefer a collar to a hood as it's more comfortable when wearing a coat when walking the dogs.

I think you might have found it, thank you! I think it’s men’s but she’ll just have to roll the sleeves up ( if that’s allowed by the school!)

If they are going to be that strict with uniform they should supply the particular item they have described in a uniform shop, or allow a compromise. Tell them to be reasonable or let you know exactly where you can buy something that fits their specifications.

nancy75 · 29/09/2020 00:25

Staffy1 it’s because they want us to buy the blazer, but understandably most parents are not prepared to spend £100 on a blazer for year 11s who will wear it once a week for about 10 weeks.
If they’d allow a hood I could get a navy zip up hoody in Primark for a fiver - it’s just ridiculous.
We’ve just been told we have to buy every text book they need this year (£216 for dds) this is a big standard state school.

I'd be buying the 5 pound Primark one and be writing a stern letter to the head. It's an absolutely ridiculous request.

nancy75 · 29/09/2020 00:50

If I was wearing it I’d front out the primark one but Dd won’t, she’s 15 & not that confident. She would be gutted to get in trouble & I won’t put her in that position (it would be detention or isolation)

DD liked 'hoodless hoodies' - we got them from Sports Direct, I think they were LA Gear, several colours and always on some sort of two-for deal.

Would this in an extra small work?

Why would they wear a blazer so minimally?

Because it stops being part of the uniform after year 9, she is year 11. The blazer is quite uncomfortable, not that warm and no use for PE anyway (dry clean only)

Buy the Primark one. Cut of the Hood. Hoods are usually separately attached so there will be a seam. Close off the seam with needle and thread or by machine. It’s called sewing.

lifestooshort123 · 29/09/2020 07:44

My grandson's school is as strict but the uniform shop doesn't supply half the stuff. No brand names or logos, no coloured piping or stitching, only analogue watches (no other jewellery at all, not even sleepers), totally plain black lunch box and the slightest infringement incurs a detention. He wrecked his black PE trainers so mum had to sharpie over the dark grey tick on his Nike ones for the next day. I understand why they do it but a 3-day period of grace would be fairer to replace stuff - like a police producer (no first-hand experience of one 😁).

Any need for the sarky ‘it’s called sewing’ comment?

I just would not entertain this nonsense. Instead of running around looking for the impossible, get together with the other parents and challenge the school, go to the local authority, go to the local newspaper, this is ridiculous.

Why are they making the pupils buy their own textbooks? Schools have a budget for this and should be supplying them, again this needs challenged.

Flatpackback · 29/09/2020 08:20

Well presumably all her class are wearing one. Try asking on the school website/other parents etc. They must be available somewhere if everyone has to have one.
