Film scenes that touched your heart!

Just that! Any scene in a film that even the thought of can send a wave of emotions over you?

For me, toy story 2, Jessies song, "when she loved you" 😭

I cry everytime. It makes me think of my little girl (age 2) she needs me now and I'll wipe away her tears and make her giggle, but one day I'll not be her whole world like I am now 🌍

Good God, where do we start? From the top of my head.

War Horse - When he's whistling and the horse turns and they're reunited.

Lassie Come Home - When the boy tells him to go home.

The original Willy Wonka - when his Mum sings about him having enough, we grew up dirt poor and it kicks me in the stomach each time.

Call Me By Your Name - The whole film but particularly when Elio rings his Mum from the train station and his voice breaks as he's asking her to come and pick him up. Jesus Christ.

Home Alone - when he runs and hugs his Mum at the end and everything is alright again.

Not a film but Band of Brothers when they play baseball at the end.

Naked Among Wolves (Random) but it's a German film about a little boy arriving in Buchenwald in the days before the end of WW2. A group of men make it their dying mission to protect him and his main carer is shot on the last day. He lies there crying just as the Americans arrive and the little boy comes to his side. Ruins me.

God so, so, so much.

canigohomenow · 29/09/2020 23:14

Billy Elliot - when he dances and his Dad cries.

The Impossible - when the brothers reunite. That first 'Lucas!' 'Lucas!' I've gone cold.

Oliver - When he hugs the house keeper at the end.

Lion King - Mufasa's death.

Goodnight Mister Tom - When he adopts him.

Schindler's List - when you think the little boy died in the round up but he's seen with his Mum and Dad being moved to Schindler's camp and he goes 'I'm Oleg' the innocence cripples me.

Good Will Hunting - when he confesses to his girlfriend that he lied about his upbringing and her voice breaks when she goes 'I didn't know. I didn't know that.'

Back to the Future 3 - When Marty refuses to race the twat and his future changes leaving his and Jennifer's life open to anything.

God, can you tell I'm a crier?

Suckmuckduck · 30/09/2020 06:36

I was thinking of Song of the Sea. I cried just explaining the ending to my mum, who then cried without even seeing it.

Shosha1 · 30/09/2020 06:46

@runningtogetskinny I walked around in a daze for hours after watching Brokeback Mountain. It is my ultimate film. The scene with the shirts broke my heart.

stayathomer · 30/09/2020 06:54

Yondu’s funeral in Guardians of the Galaxy 2
Mine is where he actually dies, I go hysterical!!
ByTheLoch Yes for About time when he realises he can't go back any more, but I irrationally hate that film in general that he didn't share with his wife that he could do it!!!!
Inside out where the elephant jumps off the cart to allow her to fly
Field of dreams when he sees his dad as a young man
Up when he finds the extra photos
My best friends wedding where they talk about if there's a moment to tell someone you love them you do it and then the moment goes and she's crying but he doesn't know

stayathomer · 30/09/2020 06:58

ShesMadeATwatOfMePam oh my god that totally makes sense on Elsa hugsFlowersCakeBrew

stayathomer · 30/09/2020 07:00

LunaMay
Yes to so much of them although Black Widow for me as opposed to iron man. Also I went hysterical in that middle school scene!!!

runningtogetskinny · 30/09/2020 07:36

@Shosha1 totally heartbreaking, such a missed opportunity for happiness. I couldn't re watch it for a few years

Elderflower14 · 30/09/2020 08:00

The end of both versions of The Railway Children.
Champions when Aldaniti goes past the winning post.
Dear Frankie... Almost all of it...
International Velvet... The ending on the beach.

sashh · 30/09/2020 08:19

Cool runnings. They crash then carry the sled over the finish line.

The crash is actual TV footage, IRL they walked next to it, but they changed it for the film because - who knows? It's not like it wasn't emotional enough.

If you want an ugly cryfest watch Jean de Florette.

Shosha1 · 30/09/2020 08:27

@runningtogetskinny I tried to watch it again just after Heath Ledger died. Just couldn't. His death seemed to make it worse.

Pelleas · 30/09/2020 08:36

Another for Step Mom - the scene that upsets me is where the dying mom and her daughter go riding at night beneath the stars. It's one of those films that I find almost too tear-jerking to watch.

Elderflower14 · 30/09/2020 09:30

Just remembered two more..
The end of The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas..
The end of The Bucket List.. I watched it in the village hall and was sobbing so much as it reminded me of DH dieing that I had to go out to the bar... 😔 😔 😔

Samcro · 30/09/2020 09:31

"I did it dad" in Uncle Tom. makes me cry every time.

ChickensMightFly · 01/10/2020 10:56

I'm filling up just reading these and I haven't seen most of them! Blush
I'm definitely putting these on my want to watch list, though not War Horse because it would be too much. Sad
Thanks for starting the thread OP.

nottoday3000 · 01/10/2020 11:37

Watched Judy (judy Garland) last 5 mins...😭

Swiftnicola · 01/10/2020 11:42

Bird box-when the little girl offers to look because she knowsSandra Bullock doesn’t care about her.

Vintagevixen · 01/10/2020 11:52

Any scene from UP - mostly the Carl and Ellie ones.

the scenes where Bing Bong fades and the one where Riley tries to run away and returns home.

The scene where Coraline climbs into her parents bed and makes the pillows into models of her parents after the other mother kidnaps them.

The scenery where Andy leaves his toys to Bonnie in Toy Story.

As you can tell I love Pixar and prefer animation!!

StCharlotte · 01/10/2020 13:08

@Heronwatcher

Emma Thompson in Love Actually every time. Out of Africa at the end when the lion is lying on the grave. Dead Poets society “my captain my captain”- killed me.
I cried massively at that Dead Poets Society scene in the cinema but when I saw the film again on TV later, it left me completely cold. In fact I actively disliked the Ethan Hawke character second time round. Very odd.
ShesMadeATwatOfMePam · 01/10/2020 20:44

Oh and black beauty of course. All of it Grin

stayathomer · 01/10/2020 22:29

Bird box-when the little girl offers to look because she knowsSandra Bullock doesn’t care about her.
That KILLED me!!!
Oh and black beauty of course. All of it
Oh god, this thread is just awful (and brilliant). I actually dont think I could handle Black Beauty bow-tie scene where he sees Ginger on the cart and then remembers them as they were ...

Lozz22 · 01/10/2020 22:47

When Dobby dies in Harry Potter

StepMum the horse riding scene and the family pic at the end

Marley and Me. When she miscarried the first Baby and the bit where they're burying him in the garden and Jennifer Anniston asks the little boy if he wants to say anything after his brother puts a pic in with him and he says he knows. I'm sure I full on sobbed and snorted at the cinema watching that

The Christmas shoes. The song that's played as the little boy is desperately trying to buy his Mammy some new shoes for when she meets Jesus breaks me every time. The part when her husband picks her up and dances with her and the neighbours and street are singing outside their window and suddenly the curtain closes and you know she's died

The Christmas orange, after one of the girls got her into trouble and she was sent away without being able to eat the orange they were all given as gifts then when someone tells the truth and she finally gets to taste a piece of the orange and she's so happy and the ending where Mr Cramptom reconciles with his estranged daughter

Cast away when Wilson floats away

Dumbo when she sings Baby mine

My Sisters keeper. The beach scene and the ending, although different to the book.

Shawshank redemption when they reunite along the beach years later

There's probably tons more too. I am a mega emotional person

DressesWithPocketsRockMyWorld · 01/10/2020 23:51

In JoJo Rabbit when the Nazi sergeant and his friend looked at each other over the feather encrusted uniform.

Kills me every time.

Vintagevixen · 04/10/2020 12:06

The ending of Coco too - when he sings with his grandma, when they all get together for the next day of the dead and Hector realises he is allowed to pass through back to the land of the living because Miguel remembers him. The whole film really!!

ShipshapeShore · 04/10/2020 12:24

Finding Neverland - when Kate Winslet sees it just before she dies.
Nanny McPhee - when she goes and nods to Mrs Brown's chair when Mr Brown and Evangeline are getting married.
The Rise of Skywalker - "Goodbye, dear Princess."
