Film scenes that touched your heart!

Just that! Any scene in a film that even the thought of can send a wave of emotions over you?

For me, toy story 2, Jessies song, "when she loved you" 😭

I cry everytime. It makes me think of my little girl (age 2) she needs me now and I'll wipe away her tears and make her giggle, but one day I'll not be her whole world like I am now 🌍

OP posts:

The whole of ‘What dreams may come’ with Robin Williams

thecatinmylap · 28/09/2020 13:17

The "daddy, my daddy!" scene in the Railway Children.

JustCallMeGriffin · 28/09/2020 13:17

The green mile when Coffey is absolving Edgecomb of all responsibility for his execution and then the same as @chocchipbrioche. ‎Michael Clarke Duncan acted his heart out in that film and absolutely should have had the oscar that year.

I also weirdly have trouble with an episode of Futurama when Fry decides against bringing his dog back to life because he'd lived a long time after Fry disappeared to the future only for the end scene to show the dog (Seymour) just sitting in his waiting spot for years and years waiting for Fry's return.

LittleRa · 28/09/2020 13:22

The ones I came on to mention have been already-

Thomas Jay’s funeral on My Girl “Wanna go tree climbing, Thomas-Jay? Where are his glasses? He can’t see without his glasses!”

Sally Field in Steel Magnolias “I can jog to Texas and back but my daughter can’t [...] I want to know why” Sad

Cam2020 · 28/09/2020 13:24

Oh no, OP you've set me off with that! And Dumbo - Baby Mine - I am now wrecked Blush I came to say the beginning of UP and when Carl is alone.

Oh, for the pre baby days when I didn't blub at everything and had a heart of stone Grin

MrsWhites · 28/09/2020 13:26

Persuit of Happiness when the little boy drops his only toy when they are running for the bus. I can’t even think about it without getting emotional.

The green mile and my girl already mentioned too.

Oh and Marley and me when the little girls draws the picture for Marley when they bury him 😭

Lisette1940 · 28/09/2020 13:27

'Like tears in rain' scene in Blade Runner

RedRec · 28/09/2020 13:30

The scene in Forrest Gump where he is addressing the crowd in Washington DC and Jenny hears him and wades through the lake to get to him.

Hiddennameforever · 28/09/2020 13:31

In the Titanic where Rose jumps out of the rescue boat and runs towards Jack into his arms..

FutureProofed · 28/09/2020 13:33

@merrygoround51

The scene in terms of endearment where Shirley MacLaine hits her grandson by speaking ill of his dying mother and then pulls him in for a hug . That whole movie really
The only thing I remember about Terms of Endearment is that Debra Winger's character marries a man called Flap Horton (Flap Horton!)
mamamia2020 · 28/09/2020 13:34

Stepmom - When Susan Sarandon's character (who is dying of cancer) finally makes peace with Julie Robertson (her ex-husbands new partner) and they take a final family photograph with the children. Wail

MsSquiz · 28/09/2020 13:35

Slipping through my fingers - the scene in Mamma Mia.
My DM brought me up alone and we sobbed next to each other in the cinema. We joked that we'd sing in it on the morning of my wedding, before we got our make up done. But she died 3 months before I got married.

Now both Mamma Mia films get me, especially the christening scene as I watched it during lockdown, having cancelled DD's christening due to Covid!

The Little Mermaid - at the end when her father gives her legs so she can be with Prince Eric
The Lion King - when Mufasa dies and Simba is nudging him to wake up
(I have father issues!)

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 28/09/2020 13:36

Lion when he is reunited with her mum and sister and we find out what happened to his brother...even worse being a real story

Monster Calls...the mums speech and everything that follows from then...
'It ends with a boy holding tightly onto his mother..and by doing so he finally let's her go

JoJo Rabbit..the shoes....and the ending with Heroes..was a wreck after that

mamamia2020 · 28/09/2020 13:36

Not a film but I used to sob at every single episode of Long lost families. Then all of a sudden, not a drop. I used to enjoy a good cry. Guess I got compassion fatigue.

Laserbird16 · 28/09/2020 13:36

Love Actually when the brother (Michael) goes to strike his sister (Sarah). He's in a mental health facility I think and she is putting his needs over her own. It just makes me think love is expressed in many ways.

Also Arrival spoilers... She has her daughter knowing her daughter will die and her husband will leave her but her daughter's life was so joyful and joy bringing. Kind of poetic.

Finally, the Fault in our Stars that eulogy!

Off for a cry!

mamamia2020 · 28/09/2020 13:37

@LetsGoFlyAKiteee
Oh yes. Totally with you on Lion and JojoRabbit.

Clawdy · 28/09/2020 13:39

The scene at the end of Nowhere Boy, when he is walking up the street towards his future. John was not my favourite Beatle,
but that scene had me sobbing.

shitinmyhandsandclap · 28/09/2020 13:45

When Spud sings 2 Little Boys at Tommy's funeral in Trainspotting.

Right. In. The. Feels

shitinmyhandsandclap · 28/09/2020 13:47

Or when he dies in The Champ - TJ :'(

shitinmyhandsandclap · 28/09/2020 13:50

Or after RP is lobotomised in Cuckoo's nest

trouncedaast · 28/09/2020 13:50

The girl in the red coat in Schindler's list

barskits · 28/09/2020 13:51

The telephone ringing in the red phone box on the quayside at the end of Local Hero.

corythatwas · 28/09/2020 13:56

Ok, I know the Downton Abbey film is a bit shit, but that scene when Thomas comes out of the police station all frightened and humiliated and looks down the road and sees Ellis waiting for him. And then when he clumsily alludes to his homosexuality and Ellis just puts a finger on his lips and smiles at him...

Collidascope · 28/09/2020 13:57

@thecatinmylap

The "daddy, my daddy!" scene in the Railway Children.
Yes.

And as someone else said, the ending of The Fault in Our Stars.

The end of How To Train Your Dragon 3 when Toothless flies away forever to the hidden world.

The end of Homeward Bound, where the oldest boy is waiting for his old Golden Retriever who then comes limping over the hill. Eugh, I'm welling up just thinking of it.

everyonesmama · 28/09/2020 14:03

complete second half of 'Goodbye, Farewell and Amen' literally sobbing for 45 minutes.
Steel Magnolias as mentioned.
