Film scenes that touched your heart!

Just that! Any scene in a film that even the thought of can send a wave of emotions over you?

For me, toy story 2, Jessies song, "when she loved you" 😭

I cry everytime. It makes me think of my little girl (age 2) she needs me now and I'll wipe away her tears and make her giggle, but one day I'll not be her whole world like I am now 🌍

Does anyone else remember An American Tail, with the little mouse when he loses his family and sings ‘somewhere out there’ whilst floating in a bottle 😭

itbemay1 · 28/09/2020 14:15

@WellTidy me too! Every time I hear that Joni Mitchell song it takes me back to that scene.

wizzywig · 28/09/2020 14:18

The end of Brief Encounters. That bit where he knows what she has been up to. Sighhhhhh

OutOntheTilez · 28/09/2020 14:18

"The Shawshank Redemption" - There's something about the scene where Morgan Freeman as Red hands the bag of groceries to the lady and then asks his boss for a refreshment break. I get a lump in my throat just thinking about it.

Also in "Shawshank," the end where Red and Andy meet up again. Ugly sobbing here.

"A River Runs Through It" - The very end when the elderly Norman Maclean in a voice over says, "I am haunted by waters." Sad

He doesn't sing it while singing in a bottle, the bottle scene is earlier, but yes it's incredibly moving.

Purplekitchen · 28/09/2020 14:24

The end of The Bridges of Madison County where she has her hand on the car door handle but doesn't get out.

LeslieYep · 28/09/2020 14:27

Take her to the moon for me - inside out. It's literally watching a child growing up emotionally and it makes me cry!

Also, when Sully's face lights up at seeing boo at the end of monsters inc. So lovely.

@ChickensMightFly

In My Girl when he dies and hasn't got his glasses. My heart can't take it.
Loads of films have me blubbering like a baby, but a TV scene that breaks my heart everytime and has me sobbing is when nana does in the Royal family.
NessieMcNessface · 28/09/2020 14:31

OK......so I’ve got about 20 mins to pull myself together before picking up my grandson from Nursery. Not sure it’s going to be long enough!

YewandOak · 28/09/2020 14:32

"Daddy. My daddy". The Railway Children.

@WellTidy

Absolutely this. Love Actually. The straightening of the sheets.

bearlyactive · 28/09/2020 14:32

Another one for the christening scene in Mamma Mia 2.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 28/09/2020 14:35

I dis watch a film recently that j cried at almost the whole way through. Cant remember what it was called though. Think I've blocked it out.

Kanaloa · 28/09/2020 14:35

The bit in the end of Call Me By Your Name where Oliver is leaving at the train station. Elio doesn’t want to let go of him and Oliver sort of disentangles himself. Maybe because I read the book first, but I found the film more sad than romantic, I felt so sorry for Elio. It always makes me a bit sad.

Also the end of Peter Pan when everyone has a family except Peter. I know he wanted to be free and never grow up but I felt sad for him when I was a kid.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 28/09/2020 14:38

There is a little known film called Phoebe In Wonderland about a little girl with Tourette's. A drama teacher at school takes a shine to her, and there's this seen were she talks to this sad little girl whose parents are struggling that seriously cracked my heart in half.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 28/09/2020 14:39

Scene Hmm

kennelmaid · 28/09/2020 14:40

AI - Artificial Intelligence when the non-real boy (Haley Joel Osmett) was left at the bottom of the pool while everyone rushed to help the real boy. I felt devastated for him.

Elephant Man - don't know what particular scene I pretty much cried the whole film.

Dumbo - when his mum was singing to him and rocking him in the curl of her trunk

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 28/09/2020 14:41

The bit in goodnight Mr Tom when the little boy is found handcuffed in the cupboard holding his baby sister who is dead.
I saw that years ago and it scared me for life.

WhollyWhole · 28/09/2020 14:49

Three words...

Gunshot. In. Bambi.

Sad Sad Sad

Suckmuckduck · 28/09/2020 14:53

Empire of the Sun.
So many scenes in it. At the end when his parents find him in the children’s home.

WilheldivaHater · 28/09/2020 14:53

At the end of Storks when all the babies are being delivered to the families whose letters went unanswered.

The start of UP.

In What To Expect When You're Expecting when Anna Kendrick has the miscarriage.

OutOntheTilez · 28/09/2020 14:59

Toward the end in "Toy Story 3" when Andy gives his toys to Bonnie. He drives away and the toys watch him go.

In "Forrest Gump" when Lieutenant Dan and his fiancee arrive at Forrest's and Jenny's wedding and Dan is walking with his cane.

pastandpresent · 28/09/2020 15:11

The Martian. When Watney realised he is all alone on Mars, but do his best to survive. It's inspirational.

Darnley · 28/09/2020 15:22

The Scene in truly, madly, deeply where she sobs and sobs with her counsellor...gulp.
Also, the colour purple when they are reunited.

Graphista · 28/09/2020 15:23

The scene in "what to expect when you're expecting" when Holly (Jennifer lopez) is blaming herself for them not being able to conceive/have a baby.

I fortunately now have dd but I well remember after 2nd mc feeling a total failure as a woman.

Robin Williams telling Matt Damon "it's not your fault". Gets me every single time.

Also this.

Have found it incredibly hard to watch any Robin Williams film since his passing as they all have some highly touching pathos in them. Can't bring myself to watch "what dreams may come" at all!

Emma Thompson in "love actually" not the crying - but when she "gathers herself" so as not to upset the kids.

One I've rarely if ever seen anyone else "get" the scene in "the abyss" where Lindsay has deliberately allowed herself to "die" so they can both get back to the main rig after their vehicle has foundered because Virgil is a stronger swimmer and it gives them both a shot at survival but the resus at first isn't working and he screams at her to fight because he can't let her go - ffs I'm crying just writing that!

Stepmom - the scene where they're discussing the daughters future wedding day
