Curry I hope you do not mind?
I put the last message in, and didn't find a new thread. Which I found disquiting, so to calm my nerves here goes.

It is ... expensive I mean.

The cake is out of the oven and looks good so far.

@Squirrel26 Scaffolding is expensive, but a pittance compared to a new roof. We had ours completely replaced (including the plywood roof deck) in 2018.

When ours was checked to see why it was leaking they looked at it from the inside, not the outside. Is that possible with your roof?

Tomorrow is black bin day, as you lot say. Ours is more of a forest green though. Smile

Squirrel26 · 05/10/2020 20:46

He did go up in the loft, but the loft has been boarded and he couldn't get to the actual roof. Oh well, has to be done! What a boring thing to spend money on though.

Squirrel26 · 05/10/2020 20:52

Actually I shall re-frame that. How lucky I am to have a roof in the first place, and to have someone who might want to fix it (I say 'might', he hasn't actually sent me the quote yet...)

ValleysGirl2 · 05/10/2020 20:54

I'm sat in bed with both my kids thinking "I need a drink Wine" and te little sods are still bickering... Love them to bits but nah had enough now...

Also, I made cake today... Was lush too Cake

I hate to be the messenger of bad news, but if the roof is leaking water has been getting under the shingles and rotted the wooden roof deck. At least that's what happened with ours. It was very expensive to replace the whole thing but there isn't really an alternative.

We have tasted the cake - DH said it tastes just like the one his DM made. It's nice.

@MissConductUS - I'm in the UK.
Britbox is a subscription channel here, and it's the one that is showing Spitting Image.

plominoagain · 05/10/2020 21:22

Well , I got the statement from the heating oil company today .£150 in credit ! So of course I immediately ordered 900 litres for the bargain price of £297 , which should see us nicely through to summer , with what we’ve got left . Can’t believe it’s still so cheap!

SpeedofaSloth · 05/10/2020 21:29

It's been a long day, I closed my laptop an hour ago. I have a nice cup of tea now.

forgetthehousework · 05/10/2020 21:36

I had a look through my fabric stash and now just have to decide what I want to make ...
I also cut the lining for a new cape out of a teddy fleece blanket so that I can be warm as well as steampunkishly stylish when I wear it.

KoalaRabbit · 06/10/2020 01:12

I did DS (ASD) business studies homework and am now an expert in the history of Tescos.

I had scampi, potatoes and brocolli for dinner followed by a strawberry Muller corner.

I e-mailed estate agent who continued to ignore me until I said I could move to another one then he suddenly became super helpful.

I watched Below Deck Sailing Yacht and listened to High on Emotion by Chris De Burgh. Blush

Champagneforeveryone · 06/10/2020 07:53

I just cancelled a subscription for ITV that I didn't realise I had Blush

My oven light isn't broken, but the glass is so dirty I can't see inside anyway! Might see if I can get the oven cleaners in before Christmas.
I got some paint mixed yesterday at B&Q; we need to fill a couple of holes in the bathroom wall, and re-paint, but they don't make the colour we used any more. So I took a piece of the plaster down and got the colour scanned and mixed. Surprisingly cheap too; £27 for 2.5 litres of kitchen and bathroom finish.

Frownette · 06/10/2020 09:35

Did about 2 hours housework this morning as I didn't sleep.

Next: empty washing machine, shower, vacuum, breakfast, then I can set off. Actually breakfast before vacuuming.

SallySeven · 06/10/2020 09:37

Thread is turning "flylady"!

I'm procrastinating here on MN because I've a cleaning hour pencilled in!

BillywigSting · 06/10/2020 09:41

I was looking for this thread. I wonder where it's been hiding.

I bought a new mattress with my birthday money. The old one was ancient and visibly lumpy. I thought a new one would make me less tired. It has a bit but not as much as I thought it would.

My tumble dryer has stopped working and I'm torn over whether to get it fixed or just buy a new (better) one.

I found mushrooms growing in the grass in the garden. Have no idea what kind they are or how poisonous they are /aren't.

Heating has been on for a week here but I can't abide being cold.

Squirrel26 · 06/10/2020 10:08

I am having a coffee. I need to do some work (I am on leave but I have stuff to finish). But I don’t want to.

giletrouge · 06/10/2020 10:41

Cup of tea happening here. Conversations about the 'state of the world'. Words already written (yes!). More to come.
I bought chicken meatballs in the click-and-collect order yesterday, so we'll have them for dinner with pasta I think.
I thought about doing some yoga today - found a vid on Youtube.
A million years ago I was a yoga teacher and practised most days. I stopped teaching and drifted away from practising. It'd be good to get into it again - and doubtless a shock, too, as I discover how much stamina and flexibility I've let fritter away.
Still, if I do some, that will be a good thing.

Imissmoominmama · 06/10/2020 11:07

I’m isolating. It started last night and I’m already bored (there’s lots to do, but I’m sulking Grin). I’m not allowed out of my house/garden for two weeks!

My dog has just shunned a rub down with a fluffy towel (she’s been in the garden, in the rain), and then rubbed her soggy hairiness along my sofa Hmm.

NancyBotwinBloom · 06/10/2020 11:26

I have to blag my way through a Video call for work in five mins.

NancyBotwinBloom · 06/10/2020 11:27

Also there is a burst water pipe by mine and everyone is gridlocked. It took me 90 mins to get to school and back and it normally takes five mins each way!

Mypathtriedtokillme · 06/10/2020 11:31

DH has fallen asleep while putting our 3 year old to bed.
I’d wake him except I want to watch something particular on TV while I have a cup of tea and biscuit.

It’s school holidays and I’m meant to make a fairy house with our 3 and 6 year olds tomorrow for a competition at our local library. I’m happy to use power tools but power tools with small children? Nope.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 06/10/2020 11:33

My oven light isn't broken, but the glass is so dirty I can't see inside anyway!
My oven is clean (it’s a job I enjoy, weird I know) but my oven light is broken. It’s been broken for about four years. I bought bulbs but I can’t work out how to get the cover off 🤷‍♀️

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 06/10/2020 11:35

Also, today I shall be sorting through old photos and putting them in albums and making mushroom risotto (not at the same time).
