So Father Christmas and Covid-19..has anyone seen the issue yet?

Will he be wearing a mask?
PPE?
Will he be a super spreader?
Will he even be allowed in the house?

You may think this is frivolous...but children will have picked up on the messages about people being allowed in the house etc...and Santa does go against that message.

So lucky DS is past that stage, But have people thought about this?

He is so magic that he doesn’t need to worry about the bad germs, and he has extra long reins so that the reindeer can spci distance.

Fairybatman · 25/09/2020 21:02

*social distance

SirSamuelVimes · 25/09/2020 21:04

"Father Christmas is magic."

There. Job done. No need to go looking for drama where there is none. Hmm

He is an elf, so doesn't catch or spread human viruses.

chomalungma · 25/09/2020 21:05

Magic..well that's handy Grin

And quarantining the presents?

mnahmnah · 25/09/2020 21:06

Yep. DS has already asked in his school assembly if Santa will be wearing a mask! So we had the chat. As tempting as it is to say Santa isn’t coming this year because of covid (cheaper Grin) I went with ‘Santa is magic, so he can’t get covid’

mnahmnah · 25/09/2020 21:07

And the presents come in their Santa sack, which is clearly magic and Covid proof too!

ChalkDinosaur · 25/09/2020 21:11

Also, due to a prompt lockdown at the beginning of the first wave and the benefits of the remote location, the North Pole has achieved Covid zero status.

ForeverBubblegum · 25/09/2020 21:12

You are encouraged to still go out to work if your job cannot be done from home, so I think he'll be ok. Also most households have less then 5 occupants, so he's not braking the rule of 6 (at our house anyway).

If you really do want to preempt your kids asking questions you could say that he will be leaving all gifts downstairs instead of stocking on beds, so that he can maintain social distance.

chomalungma · 25/09/2020 21:13

It's ok.
He's on it

Leave out a mask for Father Christmas alongside the carrot and mince pie.

greenlynx · 25/09/2020 21:20

mnahmnah I love your idea about Covid proof Santa sack!

This topic raises lots of questions.
Should we leave a hand gel along with carrot and mince pie?
If cats can transmit Covid surely reindeers can too?

AppleKatie · 25/09/2020 21:21

Carrot, mince pie, whiskey and hand sanitiser

AgnesNaismith · 25/09/2020 21:22

Wtf - there’s no Covid in the North Pole and he’s only leaving for one night.

chomalungma · 25/09/2020 21:23

Is it on the travel list?

NickMyLipple · 25/09/2020 21:23

Ah yes, you're right. Let's cancel Christmas. 😂

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 25/09/2020 21:23

He’s shielding because he’s 1) fucking ancient, 2) an alcoholic and 3) has circulatory problems hence the red cheeks.

SoUtterlyGroundDown · 25/09/2020 21:25

Let’s face it, as an ancient, overweight, alcoholic male he’s pretty vulnerable to Covid.
Lucky he’s magic.

notangelinajolie · 25/09/2020 21:25

Father Christmas doesn't need a mask because he is magic. Easy enough explanation if you tell it right.

Fatted · 25/09/2020 21:26

I've considered using Santa died of covid.

He's fat and old and shielding. The elves will have to do it this year.

According to my kids, the elves work with Amazon to deliver presents anyway.

Your explanation of Santa being magic makes me wish my adult children were tiny again. It’s a magical time when they still believe. Hope the Covid doesn’t spoilt it for those with young families.

Santa can't get Covid because he's not human. He's a Timelord. They're immune. Thought everyone knew this?

Namechangeme87 · 25/09/2020 21:41

He’s Magic 🤷🏻‍♀️ Duh! 😉
