So Father Christmas and Covid-19..has anyone seen the issue yet?

Will he be wearing a mask?
PPE?
Will he be a super spreader?
Will he even be allowed in the house?

You may think this is frivolous...but children will have picked up on the messages about people being allowed in the house etc...and Santa does go against that message.

So lucky DS is past that stage, But have people thought about this?

@MrsBudget

The effing elf can definitely be killed off with Covid. No guilt over that one!

AppleKatie · 25/09/2020 21:43

Surely the speed he moves any contact is transitory?

ElfDragon · 25/09/2020 21:44

Ds already had a letter from the North Pole back at the start of lockdown explaining that the elves and Santa were safe and couldn’t catch Covid. (He has had advent letters from The International Elf Service for the last couple of years, and so I downloaded their Covid explanatory letter in case he was worried about Elfie!)

Oh come on, EVERYONE knows Father Christmas is magic. Hmm

BenoneBeauty · 25/09/2020 21:58

surprised this is even a question, everyone knows Santa is magic!

Howmanysleepsnow · 25/09/2020 21:58
  1. he’s a key worker
  2. there’s been no cases in the North Pole.
  3. elves have natural immunity
Howmanysleepsnow · 25/09/2020 22:00

I know all of the above because the tooth fairy told us in April when collecting a tooth.

Ltdannygreen · 25/09/2020 22:14

No one will know if he’s wearing PPE because everyone should be asleep when he arrives 😂

Thorilicious · 25/09/2020 22:34

He'll be fine. He just needs to quarantine for 364 days when he gets back...

ZeldaPrincessOfHyrule · 25/09/2020 22:37

Dude can magic himself around the world in one night and can fit down chimneys, I think the can probably avoid Covid-19...

ForeverBubblegum · 25/09/2020 23:08

He'll have to appoint an officer for 'elf and safety

Sorry, couldn't help myself

nevermorelenore · 26/09/2020 03:26

He's an older man who is clinically obese and carries it round his middle like a bowl full of jelly. That puts him in a pretty high risk category. Plus he comes from a huge household full of elves. If I was Mrs Claus I'd be having a word about finding a temp replacement for the year.

HoldMyLobster · 26/09/2020 03:39

He’s quarantined for 364 days already, and he’ll be in each house for less than 15 mins, so I think he’s ok for everywhere but New Zealand, Australia and Hawaii. Maybe they’ll hire someone local just for this year.

HoldMyLobster · 26/09/2020 03:40

6 feet rule means he won’t be able to deliver presents into actual bedrooms though. Right?

GalaxyCookieCrumble · 26/09/2020 03:58

He is not technically entering the house if he can hoy the presents down the chimney? Or each house etc had one helper per household?.

Babyboomtastic · 26/09/2020 06:26

I'm still hoping they can sort out a vaccine that the elves can manufacture, and it gets dropped into everyone's stocking disguised as chocolate.

chomalungma · 26/09/2020 09:06

He's a key worker.

I just hope that the Government add him to the list of people allowed to enter without having to quarantine Grin

@Deadringer

He is an elf, so doesn't catch or spread human viruses.
Noooo. The elves are his tiny little helpers Grin He's magic and can't catch any illnesses, that's all children need to know.
crankysaurus · 26/09/2020 09:11

They've been isolating at the North Pole (which is really easy as it's so far from absolutely everywhere) and Santa has worked out how to lower presents down the chimney on the end of a fishing rod.

crankysaurus · 26/09/2020 09:14

If asked, he's been practicing giving the fish presents through ice fishing holes.

PJ04JCW · 26/09/2020 09:29

My daughter was worried about how she was going to remind Santa who her favourite My Little Pony is as he got it wrong last year 🙊 so I messaged my friend who organises the church fair where we see Santa and apparently he is going to do Zoom chats this year ❤️ 🎅

Deadringer · 26/09/2020 12:42

I have just realised that visits to santa will be off the cards this year. I suppose some enterprising people will set up virtual visits and some sort of elf delivery.

A few places near us are selling tickets for santa visits.
SoUtterlyGroundDown · 26/09/2020 14:28

Yep, loads of places near us going Santa visits too. I expect they’ll just be brief, socially distanced and outdoors where possible.

LadyofMisrule · 26/09/2020 21:35

He will only be visiting the one room this year because of COVID.

I can't say he's OK because he's magic, because I've already told one child that the reason that the tooth fairy was late was because she had put the tooth within 1m of her bed, and the tooth fairy wasn't allowed that close. (She put it further away the next night and the tooth fairy didn't forget managed to collect it while socially distanced.)
