Inspired by the loo brush thread I'll start with this

Things that were questionably 'fashionable'

Everything being painted bloody grey. It's such a depressing ugly colour.

Tigger03 · 24/09/2020 22:57

Twigs in jars
Carpets in bathrooms
Doilies
Net curtains
Novelty ash trays

Lonoxo · 24/09/2020 22:59

The Darkness.

Smellbellina · 24/09/2020 23:00

Grey velvet, wtf!

LetsPlayAGame20 · 24/09/2020 23:00

My nan still has her loo roll doll.
It's that color too

The plastic Ted Baker bags all the teenage girls had a few years ago. They was hideous and looked like a cheap knockoff.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 24/09/2020 23:02

Shellsuits in the late 80s. I had two and thought I was amazing. Grin

Oh yes, glad those have disappeared. When I was a teen everyone had bags with the playboy bunny logo on them.

Serving food in restaurants on anything other than plates seems to have disappeared now. Most commonly on chopping boards or slates but in some cases more obscure things like the ends of shovels Grin

I can't wait for the grey thing to die out, it looks especially awful when people paint the outside of thier house grey.

ShopTattsyrup · 24/09/2020 23:18

Incredibly thin scarves in the early 00s (I was such a big fan!)

The jeans I wore circa 2005 where the cuffs were wider than my shoes, longer than my legs, and constantly waterlogged from puddles Grin I thought I looked so bloody cool!

jessstan2 · 24/09/2020 23:22

I'll be glad when tattoos go out of fashion.

TartanDMs · 24/09/2020 23:25

Embroidered waistcoats. I thought I looked the business in mine. I look back at photos now and I look like a trainee magician.

Nikhedonia · 24/09/2020 23:27

Those awful Paul's Boutique jackets that were around in the noughties

OhTheRoses · 24/09/2020 23:31

Tongue and groove pine panelling.
Feature walls
Patterned wallpaper
Two tone kitchens in the 70’s green and mustard cupboard doors
Avocado bathrooms

Tank tops
Hot pants
Crimplene
Pointy toed stilettos
Handbags with chain handles (that ruined your coat)
Shoulder pads

mineofuselessinformation · 24/09/2020 23:33

Nylon sheets (fabulous static-charged bolts of mini-lightning if you turned over in bed!)
Coloured bathroom suites.
Grey and red decor.

TheVeryHungryTortoise · 24/09/2020 23:33

When I was in secondary school (I'm 26 now) all the girls used to use foundation instead of lipstick so that they all looked liked they'd lost their mouths. I'm still amazed that we ever considered that a good look!

Oh yes, those jeans, remember all the little scrappy bits of denim left on pavements Grin

ilovebedtimestories · 24/09/2020 23:36

@TheVeryHungryTortoise we’re similar ages. Whyyyyy did we do that?! Just not a good look whatsoever! We seemed to use an awful lot of face powder too.

mineofuselessinformation · 24/09/2020 23:36

And some more:
Flock wallpaper
Massive costume jewellery
Mullets
Jane Fonda fitness video (fond memories of this, a neighbour and I used to get drunk and do the beginners and then the advanced - we felt no pain!Grin)
I'm so glad some of these fashions haven't come around again..... Smile

CountFosco · 24/09/2020 23:38

Patterned wallpaper

I've just put patterned wallpaper in my downstairs loo and it looks awesome I'll have you know!

SephrinaX · 24/09/2020 23:39

-Hipster jeans (the ridiculously low kind) with a "whale tail"
-Orange tan
-Pencil thin eyebrows/sperm brows
-And the really brief fad of skirt-trousers when I was about 14 🤷🏻‍♀️

BumbleBee5w · 24/09/2020 23:39

MASSIVE quiffs . Shit ton of hairspray and then hair dry while you try and get it as high as possible (early to mid 90s - anyone else?)

SephrinaX · 24/09/2020 23:40

Oh and the sponged paint effect walls my mum had in the 90s!

BumbleBee5w · 24/09/2020 23:40

Hair dryer

ForTheLoveOfFaff · 24/09/2020 23:40

Artex ceilings. Either swirly patterns or spiky, splatty mess. What was the point?!?
