It's officially autumn and noticeably darker, with the dew falling with a sickening thud.
One of the key factors in mortality/morbidity with COVID19 is vitamin D deficiency.

Source:

There is considerable information on the NHS website as well as NIH (US).

I have started my 3000 iu megadose 2 weeks ago and I have a bit more energy and my moods are more stable - think I was vit D deficient most of August. At the latitude of the British Isles you only make Vitamin D from April to early September.

So take your Vitamin D.

Thank you! I have some and keep forgetting...

BashfulClam · 23/09/2020 13:05

I try to remember as I live in Scotland where it’s bloody dismal a lot

FTMF30 · 23/09/2020 13:10

Thanks for the reminder! I need to get some more as well as foods with vitamin D. I tend to fall flat with food though. Any good suggestions/dishes. I usually have eggs (but mindful of the cholesterol) and mushrooms.

Yes, I bought some extra strength tablets yesterday and some spray for the kids.

MrsPerfect12 · 23/09/2020 13:35

I've got the drops that are put in juice for us all. Not sure if it's a good enough dose, I'd better check

spookmeout · 23/09/2020 13:36

I got some 4000iu capsules from amazon. I take them all year round

dementedpixie · 23/09/2020 13:39

I got a spray for the kids - 10ug (400IU)
I take 25ug micro tablets (1000IU)

30under · 23/09/2020 13:40

Ooh thanks I bought some supplements after seeing that video. I have never seen a spray for kids though, that might be worth a try.

Astudy from Spain finally presents the first clinical evidence for the use of vitamin D to treat Covid-19. The study, “Effect of Calcifediol Treatment and best Available Therapy versus best Available Therapy on Intensive Care Unit Admission and Mortality Among Patients Hospitalized for COVID-19: A Pilot Randomized Clinical study,” was published in The Journal of Steroid Biochemistry and Molecular Biology on 29 August. It’s called a pilot because the sample size is still small, but its randomization and prospective design still make it a robust research.

Where’s the spray from?

GrapeSodas · 23/09/2020 13:43

I paid to get mine tested by post at the beginning of lockdown. It came back as deficient but not too severely,.so I've been taking a supplement since then

dementedpixie · 23/09/2020 13:49

I got it from amazon

CuntAmongstThePigeons · 23/09/2020 13:52

I got a spray from Holland and Barrett.

Phoenix21 · 23/09/2020 13:55

Thanks for the reminder OP. I’m black, we tend to be low on vitD in general so I’ll be stocking up.

INeedNewShoes · 23/09/2020 13:55

I buy Oilesen drops as the ingredients are very simple (multiple allergies in this house) with just D3 and olive oil.

One drop on the tongue and that’s it.

I think it’s supposed to be best taken while eating as fat helps it to absorb or something. I try to remember every breakfast time.

dementedpixie · 23/09/2020 13:56

I take tiny tablets - also from amazon- 1 year supply

Thanks for that op. Is a bog standard multivitamin tablet going to be good enough for are the sprays/drops better?

justanotherneighinparadise · 23/09/2020 13:59

Try and find a supplement that is D3 alongside k2.

foxychox · 23/09/2020 14:01

Check the amount in the multivitamin. 10ug is the recommended amount to take (dh's multivitamin only contains 5ug). Make sure its Vitamin D3 as well
TweetUsOnFacebook · 23/09/2020 14:11

Thank you dementedpixie I've just added these to my shopping order as my multivitamin doesn't have enough vitamin D.

Can you take too much vitamin d?

NotMeNoNo · 23/09/2020 14:15

I agree, I went to the dr as I was feeling so tired and wasted, and a severe vit D deficiency was diagnosed. Been WFH since March .
