Squonk. You know what squonk means, don't you?

Go on, you know what this word means, don't you?

I really haven't just made it up.

I went to double-check before using it in an email, and, well, maybe it's not as widely understood as I thought.

But you'll know it, won't you MN?

Noooooooooppppppe

If a spork is a cross between a spoon and a fork,

I’d guess a squonk is a cross between a squeeze and a honk...

And I’ve still got no idea what that could mean in practical terms.

TheQueef · 23/09/2020 13:35

@CountFosco

I knew! smug

If something is not straight it's SQUINT in Scotland.

Scotland is correct. Squint means wonky or not straight.
lottiegarbanzo · 23/09/2020 13:51

Yes, English and agree that a picture that is not straight is a bit squint.

There's a Canadian wild man (yeti) type thing called the sasquatch.

No idea about squonk!

ladybee28 · 23/09/2020 13:53

It's the noise you get when you squeeze a goose.

pictish · 23/09/2020 13:57

Squonk? No, not heard of that. Sounds like a fun made up word.

AllPlayedOut · 23/09/2020 14:05

If something is not straight it's SQUINT in Scotland.

Squinty for me.

DistinguishedCarrot · 23/09/2020 14:08

No idea here either but my imagination is telling me that it's something that's on the wonk (i.e. wonky) but has also developed a squeak.

I.e. a wheelie chair with an uneven seat that squeaks every time you move is "on the squonk"!

hipposarerad · 23/09/2020 14:15

Can't help but notice that nobody has clarified what a dirty wank is. Come on people, put an old fart out of her misery Grin

Mooey89 · 23/09/2020 14:20

Also need to know what a dirty wank is

Iwantacookie · 23/09/2020 14:20

Who are you emailing about dirty wanks? Shock

PerkingFaintly · 23/09/2020 14:24

@CloudPop

It means not quite straight or lined up. "It's a bit sqonk"
YES THIS!
OP posts:
TheSpottedZebra · 23/09/2020 14:24

Maybe she was emailing about clean wanks so made sure to clarify it wasn't a squonk?

Eww, you lot and your dirty wanks! Grin

I step away from my computer for a couple of hours, and what do you get up to?

OP posts:
Mumratheevergiving · 23/09/2020 14:28

@PerkingFaintly surely that's just wonky not squonky?

hipposarerad · 23/09/2020 14:32

Well my options are either taint my search history or blurt "what's a dirty wank?" at DP the second he walks in the door.

Curiosity is sometimes a terrible burden.

PerkingFaintly · 23/09/2020 14:38

Squonk conveys (to me) a stationery state of non-alignment. Definitely a picture frame that isn't level, or a table that isn't square to something.

Wonky has the possibility of motion. The wonky donkey, for example.

You know, the winky wonky donkey.
The honky-tonky winky wonky donkey.

TheSpottedZebra · 23/09/2020 14:39

I just googled it, and google said it didn't have any results.
Am I being censored?

TroysMammy · 23/09/2020 14:41

CloudPop that's squiff

Abzs · 23/09/2020 14:43

You say squonk, I say you're wrong squint.

PerkingFaintly · 23/09/2020 14:45

OK, I now have to share the best ever reading of The Wonky Donkey.

You'll forgive me for all your filthy search histories after this.

That's skew-whiff, crooked, wonky, squint, lop sided, off centre or maybe even askew. I wouldn't ever consider squonk befitting of this situation.

flourbroach · 23/09/2020 14:47

Ah - a combination of skew-whiff and wonky then.

blacksax · 23/09/2020 14:47

In our house we say 'on the wonk'.

GlamGiraffe · 23/09/2020 14:48

@TinySleepThief I must concur! 😁
