How can you post your face on a thread and then have 'privacy concerns'?

Yes, this is a blatant TAAT.
The 'how old do you think I am' thread was deleted for the above reason.
Why let it stand in the first place then?
Just don't allow identifying pictures FFS. Not to mention obvious let's boost my ego ones.
I know this will be taken down, but not before MNHQ have a think about the logic behind their ridiculous deletion message, I hope.
Either let people post their faces but then refuse a deletion for privacy purposes, or don't let them do it in the first place.
You can't have it both ways, MN (or shouldn't), and neither should posters.....

Posters often ask for thread to deleted when it doesn’t go their way.

slipperywhensparticus · 20/09/2020 15:36

ahhh did someone guess the age right?

mineofuselessinformation · 20/09/2020 15:38

To both of you, yes, that's what I'm thinking - but surely that's the risk you take when you post a thread like that?
BTW, I look fucking ancient so would never do it!! 😁

LittleTiger007 · 20/09/2020 15:40

She clearly was about 45 and thought she looked 35, when in fact people in the main thought she looked 55.
Pure vanity.
I agree people either shouldn’t be allowed to post those at all, or they do and they take the consequences. However a lot of posters are too dim to foresee the backlash they will receive and they need protecting from themselves.

SerendipityJane · 20/09/2020 15:44

@UnaMujer

Posters often ask for thread to deleted when it doesn’t go their way.
And MNHQ used to say "tough luck".

but as with everything else around us, a few have learned to game the system and know all they need to do is report their posts to MNHQ "for privacy concerns" and MNHQ can't refuse to pull their post - and if they are the OP, the whole thread.

Definitely puts you off replying.

Bluntness100 · 20/09/2020 15:45

I don’t understand why it bothers you if it is deleted? Why’s it important to you it stays up? If the poster wants it deleted, who gives a shit, this isn’t some form of military camp, it’s a public forum. There is plenty of other threads, seriously. How can you give a fuck?

JaneJeffer · 20/09/2020 15:46

Do people not realise that when they post those photos they end up elsewhere for eternity?

mineofuselessinformation · 20/09/2020 15:46

But surely your face is your most identifying feature?
I'm pretty sure that if I posted a picture of my arse, no-one would recognise me.

OP posts:
Bluntness100 · 20/09/2020 15:46

a few have learned to game the system

Seriously? Game this system? Some folks take this all too seriously.

mineofuselessinformation · 20/09/2020 15:47

As someone said on the thread, if you want it to disappear, you have the choice of posting in 30 days only....

OP posts:
FlouncerInDenial · 20/09/2020 15:48

@mineofuselessinformation is that you? I'd know that arse anywhere

Bluntness100 · 20/09/2020 15:48

Or they have the option of asking mnhq to delete. So?
Ernieshere · 20/09/2020 15:50

It was probably someone she didnt like anyway.

For a quick off the cuff posts, fair enough.

But sometimes you can write quite a bit - especially if the OPs experiences seem to echo yours and you want to help. And it's fucking galling to subsequently see the thread disappear as MNHQ pull it at the OPs request.

Bluntness100 · 20/09/2020 16:03

I don’t see it as galling. I don’t right the post for plaudits or posterity, I right to help the op and if they wish for it to be deleted, then that’s fine by me.

Bluntness100 · 20/09/2020 16:03

Write, not right!

VettiyaIruken · 20/09/2020 16:20

I think the best attitude to adopt is It really doesn't matter.

Yes, it's eye roll time when you get the whole "privacy" crap when really the OP tripped over their lip (I'm not talking about the age thread) and mardyarsed to MN. But if they want to pretend then that's up to them. Everyone who read it knows anyway. 😁

And sometimes people feel desperate but then get worried about it being so public.

Best thing is to not get invested. Give a pov but don't get emotionally involved. Don't give information that is important to you if you are going to have an emotional reaction to what happens after that.

BigBadVoodooHat · 20/09/2020 16:37

When you're a narcissistic dick. Wink

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 20/09/2020 16:40

I didn't see it, but those threads make me laugh.

There was one with about 100 filters on it, including puppy dog ears 😂😂 and you can tell these posters don't want the truth, and that MN posters can be pretty cunty and add about 20 years on to what they actually think.

Love them.

ArticulateYourLife · 20/09/2020 16:42

I started one of these. Everyone was really, really mean, and I ended up with a stalker!

EinsteinaGogo · 20/09/2020 16:44

Honestly - what on EARTH would possess you to put a headshot of your own face on MN?

EinsteinaGogo · 20/09/2020 16:44

Why did you put up a post, @ArticulateYourLife ( and how did you get a stalker?).

I didn't think she 'clearly' was about 45. I said she looked 54/55 based on what I look like, she had slightly more wrinkles than me and I'm 53.
mineofuselessinformation · 20/09/2020 17:43

@FlouncerInDenial why have you outed me? I'm going to have to ask MN to delete this thread now......

OP posts:
mineofuselessinformation · 20/09/2020 17:45

Bluntness - Or they have the option of asking mnhq to delete. So?
Why are you so bothered that I'm bothered? 🤷‍♀️😁
