Watch us wreck the mike, watch us wreck the mike, watch us wreck the mike.
Psych.

Now gather nicely in groups of no more than six...
Unless you're outdoors in Wales...

Oh well, come on in whatever the laws where you are. Plenty of space in this bubble of sanity Wink

Still no test result for DD2. I'm fucking taking DD1 to Cubs anyway - DD1 has the same cough and has had a negative result... DH has the same cough and has had a negative result... I know DD2 is jinxed - but even she would struggle to get, at the same time as the rest of the house, a completely different virus with identical symptoms.

Muggins doesn't have the time to fucking get ill and has the immune system of an ox apparently (all those years working with infant kids)

HeIenaDove · 22/09/2020 13:51

More mask wear. Im sure the Boots stores and department stores are elated because they will sell loads of make up gift sets this Christmas Hmm

I dont agree with supermarket workers wearing masks. Its hard manual work despite one of the usual suspects on the Covid board saying it isnt. I wouldnt fancy standing too near a supermarket worker who is up a ladder hanging a heavy huge Christmas bauble on the ceiling...............while the mask is riding up into their eyes. They can interfere with your depth perception. Plus other tasks Our local Tesco was built in the 70s and its stairs or an escalator to get upstairs. I hate using either in a mask. I always feel like im going to trip.

HeIenaDove · 22/09/2020 13:52

*the Boots stores and department stores that are already in trouble.

@Ibake

And if *@Jourdain11*'s hippy suggestion doesn't work, might I suggest weed Grin (which, to be fair, is also a hippy suggestion)
There`s a lot to be said for weed I am told.

@DominaShantotto my GP had no problem with prescribing beta blockers. Initially just for the panic attacks, but she said yesterday to take them regularly to keep a lid on it. Sertraline 100mg, can go up to 200mg apparently if necessary.

Only problem I find with beta blockers is that they reduce your blood pressure and heart rate, and mine are already low. I went for a run this morning and struggled so badly as I couldn't get oxygen round my body quick enough. I might have to start timing them with my runs to avoid this.

I'm on 150mg which according to the guy today is a "whacking high dose" - but the other GP said I could go up to 200 and still be "in the middle band" so god knows what the situation actually is. Will see who I get next time - this one was a bit of a knob.

SockYarn · 22/09/2020 14:12

Just waiting for Nippy Nicola to make her appearance on BBC1. She must be raging that BoJo pipped her to it this afternoon by briefing at 12.30 when she's not on until 2.30.

DominaShantotto · 22/09/2020 14:15

And what a surprise - DD2 is negative covid as well. Ironically as I'm typing up notes about how utterly and totally subjective the frequency of a cough can be to define. Duh - I know this one!

justasking111 · 22/09/2020 14:45

Of course they are negative @DominaShantotto as were twelve members of our extended bubble from 18 months to 68 years, we all got the cold when kids went back.

I have reported two threads, trolling I reckon asked them to check. Amazing three threads from people who did not exist 24 hours ago. mmm...

MP Danny Kruger spotted maskless on a train, according to this morning's Metro. Well, Saint Boris told us he wanted us to snitch and grass. Will Danny Kruger be sacked, or will he just be a good boy and pay his fine of £200, loose change to him, on parliamentary expenses? Will it be another whitewash, like Dominic Cummings?

I'm a bit gutted about the blow to indoor sport; I'm just hoping my netball organisation doesn't do a knee-jerk nuke on the outdoor games as well.

For all the talk of "sweeping new measures", so far this feels very much like tinkering around the edges... or are we going to see a classic Boris U-turn, just like in March, with this being the tip of the iceberg? Sad Twelve weeks, you said, Saint Boris, twelve weeks.

Incidentally, there's lots of in-fighting among the dementors on their threads: not the united front Saint Boris wants. Smile

justasking111 · 22/09/2020 15:04

There are threads being started just to wind up the dementors, I do wonder if self employed starving journos. aren`t scraping the barrel to make ends meet to be honest.

As for an MP not wearing a mask, well I will not condemn we have no idea of anyone else`s personal circumstances. I can wear one with no bother I am asthmatic so only the disposable ones, but I acknowledge some cannot go even that far.

Jourdain11 · 22/09/2020 15:06

What I can't stand are the saintly dementors, who say "Let's all think about each other and follow the rules. We don't want to be selfish now, do we?" It sounds like a really annoying Reception teacher. "Let's make good choices, children."

DH walked past a room the other day at school where some Y1 child was royally kicking off. There were no fewer than 3 teachers and TAs cajoling him, "Now Danny, think about the choices you are making."

DH walks in and bawls the kid out. "RIGHT, YOU - SIT DOWN THERE AND I DONT WANT TO HEAR ANOTHER PEEP OUT OF YOU." Surprise, surprise - the kid sat down and stopped screaming and chucking chairs about.

What I really cant stand is all the comments of if we only knew how awful it was to die of covid we'd think again
Ive said it before and Ill say it again. I think these folk have honestly never experienced death.

I have watched both of my parents die. Both of them become agitated and frightened, unable to talk or communicate in any real way. Having to wet their lips and balm their pressure points as their bodies stop taking in water or nutrition, helping them to turn while managing their pain and comfort, fighting for every breath knowing it could well be their last. And then it is, and they are gone and it is over.

There is rarely any dignity in dying unfortunately. It is awful and it is frightening. Witnessing the above was horrifying. How is one death "worse" or "more worthy" than another?

Oh and throw in somewhere in that timeline, losing your mind as your brain shuts down.

DominaShantotto · 22/09/2020 15:47

Nice spot of scheduling to follow up on Boris's statement to the nation tonight there from the BBC.

I mean, I don't want to be insensitive, but does Covid-19 not cause viral pneumonia? Which used to be known as "The Old Man's Friend"?

My dad died after a car accident. We had to watch his body gradually shutting down as each organ failed. It was horrible - but at least he probably knew nothing about it, as he never regained consciousness.

That was exactly my experience of watching both my parents die too. My dad at home and my mum in a horrible, overcrowded hospital ward, with someone taking a dump on a commode 2 foot away behind a curtain. No dignity there.

Grin Grin Grin

For all the hype, I am relieved that at this point there is no change to us. We don't do team sports, and individual distancable ones seem unaffected.
We're long gone from our occasional pub visits by 10.
No weddings on the horizon (but it's a kicker for those couples who've persevered with trying to go ahead in the near future through the rollercoaster this year)

Hearing 6 months is depressing but I have long suspected that like this year, next Easter(ish) is the turning point where cases naturally plummet again and we'll have better immunity, possibly practical benefits from vaccine development and life can get back much closer to a more secure, real normal.

For now, I'm concentrating on this moment. The sun is out and life is currently no worse than it was this morning.
