what music did your parents listen to?

I'm working my way through the Eurythmics, The Beatles and Paul Simon atm.

What else might my dad have listened to when I was young???

1980 here. My mother was a hard partying twenty-something biker in my early childhood (yes I was unplanned Grin) so it was all Heavy Metal & rock. My first gig was Thin Lizzy when she was six months pregnant - like many young Irish people of her generation, she worshipped Phil Lynott because he was our first big international rockstar and was also astonishingly good looking. I remember Bowie and Led Zep and Queen being played & Freddie Mercury posters on the walls. I used to love flicking through her & my uncle's LP collections & looking at all the weird cover art. My mother, my uncle and their mates were always pulling the piss out of Wham etc because they were Not What Bikers Listened To. Weirdly Michael Jackson was ok though? One of my earliest memories is watching the video for Billy Jean which was very high tech at the time.

Born early 80’s
Parents were mid 20’s

Records and LPs I remember being stacked at side of stereo and listening to as a small child :

Deacon blue
Wet wet wet
Whitney Houston
Tracy Chapman
Michael Jackson
Rod Stewart

They were just chart loving parents , dad liked stuff like thin Lizzy and Wings etc but I don’t remember that being played . They probably mostly had the chart stuff on as they mostly played records when they had friends round for drinks . I’d hear it lying in bed.

Radio 2, mainly, is what my mum had on in the kitchen.
On LP I remember Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span and Steely Dan. Jasper Carrott and Billy Connolly. Other folky stuff from their pre children nights out at the Black Horse (I think)
On cassette, Paul Simon's Graceland. My dad had things like Nigel Kennedy's Four Seasons and Paul McCartney's Liverpool Oratorio (I still have that, but need a working cassette player) and other classical stuff.
