what music did your parents listen to?

I'm working my way through the Eurythmics, The Beatles and Paul Simon atm.

What else might my dad have listened to when I was young???

There’s a big age gap between my parents so my dad liked the Rolling Stones and my mother liked erasure

Excellent! I went up for a shower & have come down to a HUGE list, thank you all!

I'm going to write myself a list so I don't forget any & start at the top on Monday when I have the house to myself most of the day Grin

John Denver and the Eagles and UB40 and I had many car journeys listening to these!
Also my best friend had a brother much older than us (I thought he was so cool!) and he always had the Beach boys blasting out of his room and I loved it! I still listen to them now and I often think of those first few times heard them. Happy memories

I was born in '82.

My dad loved (and still loves) Queen. My mum was into glam rock (Sweet etc) and in her teen years she was big on the Osmonds, so whilst she didn't listen to it much, I was exposed to it as she had her old records and we had a record player.

I mainly recall things like Carly Simon, Kate Bush (it's meeeeee, I'm Kathy was a regular fixture), Simon and Garfunkel, The Sweet and of course Black Lace came out at every family occasion. In fact, we saw them perform in the Ballroom in Blackpool Tower in the late eighties.

My mum had no interest in.music at all. I.don't know whether she genuinely didn't feel anything for music, or whether my dad's views were so dominant she was too scared to like anything.

I'd forgotten about Boney M. We had one record with an album cover that really freaked me out as a child. I was telling DH about it the other day as it somehow came up, and had to google it to show him.

I HATED it!
