Morning all.

For the regulars, you know the routine, for anyone new -

Welcome to the Happy Place virtual cafe. The cafe is open every morning for breakfast, there are a number of different seats / tables including some wing back chairs to either side of a log fire.

Dogs and children are welcome although be warned they are sometimes whisked away to see the kitchen.

In the garden there is a sensory area, a cat area with catnip bush, a water feature (feel free to cool your feet) and an area for the kitten bees (tiny kittens, the size of a bee but with wings and the ability to sprout an umbrella from their tails).

Florence is a French pastry Chef who makes the most wonderful bread, cakes and pastries.

Fernando is a cocktail waiter who is also in charge of the huge posh Italian coffee machine.

If you don't like the menu then feel free to cook for yourself or ask one of the regulars.

Morning all.

Well F and F are spending a lot of time together. I've no idea what breakfast is, it's in some sort of pit in the ground, apparently called an 'umu' and is traditional Mauri cooking.

I'm going to sit inside with a coffee until it is time to 'lift the hangi.

@NoGravyForYou oh that sounds OK, I've spent days wearing masks in my past and they are not the nicest of things to put up with.

Morning all. Well it's another cool start so lets have oats and nuts breakfast so porridge, flapjacks, breakfast biscuits.

Fruit juice and hot drinks available as always.

Packing up, flapjacks and a flask of something hot, ask Fernando if you want a shot of rum / vodka / whisky added.

MinnieMountain · 02/10/2020 07:47

Morning @sashh.

I'll take a packup with a shot of rum for after my swim. I cycle home and it's distinctly nippy here.

NoGravyForYou · 02/10/2020 08:01

No I didn't have any plans bar a lie in and a lazy shower.

It's my birthday today 🎉 I'm out for dinner and drinks tonight and then I'm off to a hotel by myself on Saturday.

sashh · 02/10/2020 08:18

@NoGravyForYou

You have just cheered Florence up, she's now planning a cake, do you like croquembouche?

OP posts:
NoGravyForYou · 02/10/2020 10:33

I never really eat profiteroles if I'm being honest but I'll definitely give Florence's ones a go! 🥰

moglovesquotes · 02/10/2020 10:46

Happy birthday @NoGravyForYou! Hope you have a lovely weekend 🎉🎉🎉

NoGravyForYou · 02/10/2020 11:37

Thanks @moglovesquotes 🥰

AlCalavicci · 03/10/2020 01:40

Very early morning all ,

Happy birthday @NoGravyForYou , I hope you have a great weekend .

My cat has decided its play time so he jumped from my windowsill on to me in bed ( about 7 foot ! ) it frightened the bejesus outa me !
I could do with a strong drink to calm my nerves but I am staying off the booze atm so I am just going to sneak off with some cake and a hot chocolate instead

sashh · 03/10/2020 04:01

Morning all.

Hot chocolate is a good idea, I'll make a huge jug.

Anyone fancy cheese on toast? Any type of bread and any type of cheese.

Packing up, obviously cheese sandwiches and hot chocolate.

Funnily enough, I have in some mushrooms, sourdough and brie and was thinking about doing mushrooms and melted cheese on toast.

Don't have any choc in aside from Malteser truffles and munchies but could whisk something up with milk.

sashh · 03/10/2020 06:26

@Frownette Sounds like a fab breakfast.

Happy Birthday @NoGravyForYou Flowers

Cheese on toast sounds nice. Can we make Welsh rarebit?

It's that sort of behaviour that means my cat gets shut downstairs @AlCalavicci.

Your breakfast sounds delicious @Frownette I'm now regretting not thinking about today's breakfast yesterday whilst DH was still here (he's away for 5 days).

sashh · 03/10/2020 08:25

Welsh rarebit no problem, and Florence can do a croque monsieur.

AlCalavicci · 03/10/2020 12:40

@MinnieMountain, he nearly got launched through the window ! ( in fright rather than anger )

Ohh cheese and Branston on toast please for a lunch time snack while i wade through mountains of paper work and try to wrap my head round the 5 pensions I have ( all worth about £50 a year if I make it to retirement age Sad )

sashh · 04/10/2020 03:13

Morning All.

So yesterday I watched an episode of Masterchef Australia, where they made toasties and jaffles. Which are basically the same thing but I like the word so Jaffles for breakfast. Obviously there are the usual hot drinks and I have magic bags that mean packing up jaffles will stay warm.

@AlCalavicci

I had some plans like that, I put them together in a SIPP and have fun on the stock market. Not to be recommended with a main pension.

OP posts:
AlCalavicci · 04/10/2020 03:22

Morning @sashh,

I jafflas sounds intresting , please can I have a ham and cheese one and a coffee .
I gave up with trying to decied on what to do with the penisions for now I have just contated all the companies and asked them for a update on the value and if they can be merged . I have never done anything with the stock market and would not be sure on where to start .

sashh · 04/10/2020 03:29

One ham and cheese jaffle on its way.

No I'd not and I wouldn't have done it with my main pension. You probably need some professional advice.

Can I have a cup of tea and eggs Benedict please....

DH and I are in our caravan in one of the few places that isn't locked down. We ummed and ahhhed about coming but after speaking with the site owner we came.
Only ones on a tiny site.

It's raining very hard and the wind is buffeting the van but we are warm and cosy. DH is fast asleep which pleases me as he has worked solidly through lockdown and desperately needs the rest. I was shielding so I am happy to be away from the house too.

I can't sleep with the noise. But I have mumsnet and the very bust troll on FWR to keep me amused...

sashh · 04/10/2020 03:57

eggs benedict on its way. Sounds quite nice actually to be cosy and warm.

Do you want to put an order in for dh?

I may have to wander over to FWR, I did write something about twitter but deleted it, this is supposed to be a happy place.
