'The happy Place Cafe' AKA the cafe is open thread 3

Morning all.

For the regulars, you know the routine, for anyone new -

Welcome to the Happy Place virtual cafe. The cafe is open every morning for breakfast, there are a number of different seats / tables including some wing back chairs to either side of a log fire.

Dogs and children are welcome although be warned they are sometimes whisked away to see the kitchen.

In the garden there is a sensory area, a cat area with catnip bush, a water feature (feel free to cool your feet) and an area for the kitten bees (tiny kittens, the size of a bee but with wings and the ability to sprout an umbrella from their tails).

Florence is a French pastry Chef who makes the most wonderful bread, cakes and pastries.

Fernando is a cocktail waiter who is also in charge of the huge posh Italian coffee machine.

If you don't like the menu then feel free to cook for yourself or ask one of the regulars.

I was off tp the sensory part of the garden but my IRL cat has other ideas.

Oh no @sashh what can I get you? A nice coffee perhaps?

Ok guys, porridge is in the slow cooker on low, help yourselves, there's plenty of different toppings.

Fernando has the fancy coffee machine going and says he'll do some espresso martinis to get us going now and some mimosas closer to brunch time.

There's some pastries fresh out of the oven and rumour has it Florence is out back making up some waffle and pancake batters, but you didn't hear it from me 😉

Yes it was dark when I got up too, I was quite confused!
Yummy what time is brunch please, I’m eyeing up the mimosas!! ;)

@PinkDaydreams Brunch will start around 11am though purely for selfish reasons as I am working til 2, it will finish at 3:30!

Brunch at 11am, fab! I’ll have some porridge with a blob of lemon curd to start then please! Then I’ll go for a walk, kitten bees are more than welcome to join me :) then it’ll be nearly mimosa time!!

I am going to be cooking for the next few hours , ( so I dont have to during the week ) so if anyone fancys something give me a shout ( curry , chilli , roast chicken with lemon . . . . . )

Caramelised bananas in caramel sauce
Fresh fruit

And I'm hoping someone else can do some fancy eggs because I don't eat them.
Fernando will also take requests for any other cocktails you may fancy and the usual toast and pastries are available.

I'll take some sausages for me and, well, that floofiness.

Here you go @sashh did you manage to get a little nap at all? Your cat is so cute!

No nap but a long soak in the bath.

The trouble is the cat knows she is cute, I watched her try to get belly rubs from the post man the other day. She ran up to him and lay on her back.

Her she is sulking, I'd found her wrapped around the slow cooker, she isn't allowed in the kitchen unsupervised, so she sulked on the sky box.

@sashh cats do love a warm place to kip don't they .
My noisy neighbour woke me up so I will put some porridge in The slow cooker and set the timer on the coffee machine to come on in a hour or so.
I saw the milkman and got half a doz bottles of gold top ffor anyone that is feeling indulgent.
I am going to try to get some more sleep now , see you all in a bit.

Well Florence has been experimenting with jams so if anyone wants a croissant with apricot jam today is the day to ask.

Fernando is mixing coffee (and other hot drinks) with cocktails, I can recommend the chocolate with vanilla vodka.

The packing up for anyone off to work is ametal tiffin with rice and 2 curries, choose from mixed veg, takka dal, butter chicken, lamb dupiaza or mushroom bhuna.

Morning all! No alcohol for me this morning as I'm off to work but I'll take a coffee and croissant plus some butter chicken for my lunch later!

I have been up since 5. So tired. School run soon 😴

I'll take a croissant with apricot jam please. I'm not working today but I'll have to be out over lunchtime today as I love Indian food. Takka dal and mushroom bhuna please.

@MinnieMountain she goes up on the worktops. She's the only cat I have not been able to train not to do that (and I fostered for 10 years so have had a lot of cats).

My carer put a sign on the kitchen door saying, 'puss cat temptation ahead' and a pic of a cat with a line through.

It was on the door for 5 years, the day we took it down she learned to open the door.

Would you consider fostering? That way if it doesn't work out the cat will go to another fosterer.

Mine would be no problem, she is so laid back some of my neighbours grand children and great grand children have interacted with no problems, I even bought cat milk for one toddler because he loved to give her milk which is not a good idea.

That reminds me, one time she got into the kitchen where I'd left a chocolate cheesecake out - the result was not pretty.

Cats are the most infuriating lovable balls of fluff , I was a bit concerned abut mine yesterday as he was very quiet , he is normally very talkative ( drives me made ) But nope at 4am this morning , he decides its Pussy Parkour Time for half a sodding hour, he is fine !
I struggled to keep him of the worktops too , untill one day when he was chasing flys and he went to jump up and forgot / misjudged where the sink was and landed in a bowl full of water , he shot of like a rocket , its not been a problem since then
The radiator can not be comfy can it , but then as you say warm AND hot places are the place to sleep .

I put a knitted scarf on it (I know but I'm her slave) you can see the bit of purple, but she rejected it in favour of the other end of the radiator.
