'The happy Place Cafe' AKA the cafe is open thread 3

Morning all.

For the regulars, you know the routine, for anyone new -

Welcome to the Happy Place virtual cafe. The cafe is open every morning for breakfast, there are a number of different seats / tables including some wing back chairs to either side of a log fire.

Dogs and children are welcome although be warned they are sometimes whisked away to see the kitchen.

In the garden there is a sensory area, a cat area with catnip bush, a water feature (feel free to cool your feet) and an area for the kitten bees (tiny kittens, the size of a bee but with wings and the ability to sprout an umbrella from their tails).

Florence is a French pastry Chef who makes the most wonderful bread, cakes and pastries.

Fernando is a cocktail waiter who is also in charge of the huge posh Italian coffee machine.

If you don't like the menu then feel free to cook for yourself or ask one of the regulars.

@NoGravyForYou hope You feel better soon Flowers
@sashh I have never eaten Japanese food don't think wasabi peanuts count

sashh · 07/10/2020 06:58

Morning all.

Well it's getting colder so Fernando is making hot chocolates, yes that's plural because he is using different chocolates and different flavours. I can recomend Suchard with vanilla vodka.

Florence is making sweet pastries to dip in starting with croissants and churros.

Pacing up will be pastries and hot chocolate.

Please don't use the table in the corner, the kittenbees seem to performing a dance with their tail umbrellas, I suspect the ninja is responsible.

@moglovesquotes I've not had any of the real stuff, I've made stuff from recipe books and I've had some sweets brought back from Japan. IRL my carer has been to Japan 2 or 3 times, he is quite fussy about food so mainly existed on McDonalds and some really salty sausages he bought in a bar.

Wasabi peanuts Grin

I think I'd like a dark chocolate hot chocolate, purrlease.

I used to make it with that spiced one from green and blacks i think? Will have to google.

Poor gravy, good idea lots of hot drinks with honey and lemon

Frownette · 07/10/2020 07:17

Maya gold. Melt chocolate and whisk with milk

AlCalavicci · 07/10/2020 08:56

Morning all ,

I have had a crappy couple of days and am in need of comfort food so hot chocolate and churros fits the bill perfectly .

sashh · 08/10/2020 06:50

Morning all.

We have not had eggs for a while so I'm going to base today's breakfast on eggs, boiled, poached, fried, scrambled, convent ...

Obviously omelettes with fillings of choice and Florence is making meringue. Fernando has told me breakfast cocktails are a thing, I've not heard of them but, well when has he ever been wrong about alcohol?

Packing up is frittata and a bloody Mary.

OP posts:
Frownette · 08/10/2020 08:16

Oooh haven't had a bloody mary in yonks.

With all the lycopene in the tomato juice and celery they've gotta be good for you, right?

I'll have mine spicy please, Fernando (resists urge to break into abba)

sashh · 08/10/2020 11:38

Sing as much ABBA as you want @Frownette

Morning all.

I thought we would head over to the German Dutch border for some inspiration today so we have a selection of hams, cooked and cured, cheeses, seriously strong coffee and a range of teas with flavours, the raspberry is rather good. Obviously there will be hard boiled eggs and jams/preserves too.

I can't find Florence and Fernando, I wonder if they have been taking lessons from the ninja? I supose they are entitled to a day off.

hi!
Impromptu day off here as Ds was sick at 1am. He's a lot better now but still a little dizzy.
We've cuddled on the sofa and watched ghosts and now he's gone upstairs to eat his dinner in peace apparently

sashh · 13/10/2020 13:43

Hi @moglovesquotes sounds like a good day (appart from the 1.00am barf).

I love ghosts. I binged on it, but I think I might go back and watch it again.

Morning all.

I'm just going to put some jams and preserves out and leave you lovely people to make toast.

Please be careful with the kittenbees they can get stuck in the jam.

OP posts:
MinnieMountain · 14/10/2020 07:02

Morning @sashh

Jam's feels just right for autumn days.

Do for kitten bees try to eat the jam or play in it?

moglovesquotes · 14/10/2020 08:14

Morning oooh bramble jelly haven't had that in years! Can I add that and lemon curd to the table please?
I'll fire up the toaster will be making lots at work hopefully so might as well

sashh · 14/10/2020 08:50

@MinnieMountain both and you try blow drying a kitten the size of a bee. A hairdryer sends them spinning so you have to use your own breath.

OP posts:
MinnieMountain · 15/10/2020 05:29

Whoops. There are tiny sticky paw prints everywhere. I'll put some coffee on whilst I clean them up.

sashh · 15/10/2020 07:02

Morning all.

It's cool here so lets go for porridge and minestrone soup for the packing up.
