'The happy Place Cafe' AKA the cafe is open thread 3

Morning all.

For the regulars, you know the routine, for anyone new -

Welcome to the Happy Place virtual cafe. The cafe is open every morning for breakfast, there are a number of different seats / tables including some wing back chairs to either side of a log fire.

Dogs and children are welcome although be warned they are sometimes whisked away to see the kitchen.

In the garden there is a sensory area, a cat area with catnip bush, a water feature (feel free to cool your feet) and an area for the kitten bees (tiny kittens, the size of a bee but with wings and the ability to sprout an umbrella from their tails).

Florence is a French pastry Chef who makes the most wonderful bread, cakes and pastries.

Fernando is a cocktail waiter who is also in charge of the huge posh Italian coffee machine.

If you don't like the menu then feel free to cook for yourself or ask one of the regulars.

Morning all.

A nice late breakfast / brunch today I feel.
Scotch pancakes, ham and cheese bake, waffles, sausages.

Fernando is making mocktails and very strong coffee @mogloveseggs you might like some very strong coffee.

Florence is making French crapes to order.

Is anyone working today? Packing up is savoury crapes, hard boiled eggs, a ham roll and an orange juice with a touch of ginger.

BTW, hand up, who installed the 'fairy door'? It is the perfect size for kittenbees and ir is a working door,

Thanks for the coffee @sashh
I've never had a crepe. Dd always wants one at Manchester Christmas markets but they're too expensive for what they are. Do they taste just like pancakes?

Frownette · 19/09/2020 16:08

Crepes are nice, more savoury! (Autocorrect tried to put creeps, yeah right.)

Unless you have the sweet ones.

I've had something wrong with my chest today so it's stopped me from eating, think I can venture down to the kitchen soon though and see how it goes.

mogloveseggs · 19/09/2020 21:07

There is a crepe place in the next town that does savoury ones I might go have one one day if we don't get completely locked down again.

sashh · 20/09/2020 05:27

Morning all.

Crepes are wonderful, very thin pancakes and worth the money because no one can make them so thin at home.

Well toda is starting cool and wet so I thought we should head north for breakfast, I've had a look at some Eskimo food, I think we Florence can manage the flat breads and berries but there is no way I'm serving seal blood still warm from being freshly killed.

Sorry people, you can have smoked fish or dried fish with bread and coffee (Fernando will love this it's coffee, with whisky, whipped cream and set alight before serving.)

Packing up is Alaskan smoked trout with flat bread and berries. Crunchy water to drink (crunchy water = ice chips.)

Like the sound of flat bread and smoked trout

mogloveseggs · 20/09/2020 08:01

@Frownette are you feeling any better today?
I'll just take a tea please @sashh

ThighthighOfthigh · 20/09/2020 10:21

I'm just about recovered from a two day hangover.
Crepes are amazing, especially savoury ones and when you're in France 😂

sashh · 21/09/2020 05:12

Morning all.

@NoGravyForYou just take a seat, I have IV coffee and do tell of the events.

For everyone else lets have arepa from Colombia, a dense, corn cake, plain buttered or with eggs. Packing up will be cold arepa with a jar of jam and strong coffee.

Morning all

A 2 day hangover sounds painful @NoGravyForYou.

Arepa sounds interesting @sashh. I'll have mine buttered please.

AlCalavicci · 21/09/2020 07:08

Morning all,

@sashh I have never heard of arepa, can I try one with butter please. And a coffee too

@NoGravyForYou how's the hangover?
@AlCalavicci it's a lovely day isn't it!

AlCalavicci · 21/09/2020 19:42

I will be pasding the cafe late tonight , i have a van full of freebies friit juice in big cartons , i have orange, grapefruit , Apple, guava, coconut , peach , grape , nectarine , pear , melon and loads of others .

PinkDaydreams · 21/09/2020 20:05

AlCalavicci · 21/09/2020 20:11

@PinkDaydreams , of course you can the mixed fruit ones are on the left hand side of the fridge , both with and without bits in them

Frownette · 21/09/2020 20:11

@mogloveseggs no unfortunately, I'll just have to stay in bed until it clears!

How's everyone else?

@AlCalavicci the juices sound refreshing

NoGravyForYou · 21/09/2020 21:08

I'm all recovered from the hangover now! Back to college next week, it's nearly my birthday and I'm hoping to start my driving lessons soon so a few nice things to look forward to.

Can I put in a request for some bubble and squeak for breakfast tomorrow?

Frownette · 21/09/2020 21:21

Well done gravy! I'd love bubble and squeak if I could keep it down :(

sashh · 22/09/2020 05:55

Morning all.

Wow fab fruit juices, I think I might have one of the cocktails while I cook bubble and squeak.

I'll do some other potato dishes, hash browns, potato cakes (actually that will be Florence) and we need bacon and eggs to go with them.

Enjoy everyone.

I just ate something and I didn't throw up, yeeee-ha! I don't want to push my luck so I'll stick to a fruit juice.

It's no fun projectile vomiting over your bed with the cantaloupe melon you'd just tried to keep down.

Morning all :)

sashh · 22/09/2020 07:20

Not something you read often.

Here have a ginger infusion, it's good for settling your stomach.
