'The happy Place Cafe' AKA the cafe is open thread 3

Morning all.

For the regulars, you know the routine, for anyone new -

Welcome to the Happy Place virtual cafe. The cafe is open every morning for breakfast, there are a number of different seats / tables including some wing back chairs to either side of a log fire.

Dogs and children are welcome although be warned they are sometimes whisked away to see the kitchen.

In the garden there is a sensory area, a cat area with catnip bush, a water feature (feel free to cool your feet) and an area for the kitten bees (tiny kittens, the size of a bee but with wings and the ability to sprout an umbrella from their tails).

Florence is a French pastry Chef who makes the most wonderful bread, cakes and pastries.

Fernando is a cocktail waiter who is also in charge of the huge posh Italian coffee machine.

If you don't like the menu then feel free to cook for yourself or ask one of the regulars.

Morning, just woke up and need a glass of iced water with lime. Tends to be first thing i do!

Yes it's cooler here today as well. I see toast has already been made so lets go with a bready theme (any Red Dwarf fans - I WILL NOT be using talky toaster) so french toast, savoury eggy bread, fried bread, American grilled cheese (AKA a fried cheese sandwich) lots of marmalades and preserves including ginger.

For packing up I'll put a couple of mini pots of preserves with some brioche.

I'll give F and F a well deserved day off.

I have no idea how to switch between camera and video at present otherwise I did promise @AlCalavicci to put photo of ginger marmalade. As soon as I've sorted it I'll do it.

I give up on posting a pic of marmalade. You very nearly got one of me scowling whilst facing the camera without make-up which would make anyone scream and shatter screens.

well as the grilled cheese was such a success I've taught Florence to use the toastie maker, puck a flavour, sweet or savoury.

Fernando is mixing some start the weekend cocktails.

Packing up will be sausage rolls and fruit, because, hey it's almost the weekend.

Morning @sashh at work I use toasty bags , I was surprised at how good they are it's just a shame the bags are not a bit bigger.
At home I don't have a toaster / sandwich maker but I do have a very beloved eye level gas grill hence my love of everything on toast ( my DH always said put on a plate and Al may it eat put it on toast and she will eat it )

So can I have a ham and cheese toasty and a coffee please.
I will grab a cocktail of Fernando later today

Can I have a cheese and ham toastie please? And coffee as always. That's my favourite thing according to DS.

I've been wondering about the kitten bees. Do they have coats for the cooler weather or do they stay inside?

@Frownette, I always have issues posting photos I can get the pic to attach to the message but I can rarely get the post to load I usually give up after about the 4th attempt.

Kittenbees have a stripy fuzzy coat, similar in touch to velvet. They naturally hibernate in the winter (their umbrellas are not good for snow) but as it is warm in the cafe they have the option of coming into the cafe for winter - they have to be kept out of the kitchen though.

A bit like New Zealand hedge hogs, they can hibernate but they usually don't.

I saw a couple of the kitten bees curled up one the window sill in the sun yesterday . But I think the sneak into the kitchen where it's nice and warm .

Ha ha xpost @sashh , I know they are not allowed in the kitchen bit I think they sneak in form time to time .

@AlCalavicci Yes! I've taken the pic but something phone is doing is switching between camera and photos so it's really disconcerting me. I'll have to call into store, I pay enough for the damn thing.

I promise that I've done it though.

@Frownette, I think my issues is more a MN one but I cant be sure. My lap top is also playing silly buggers on me too , parts of the text keeps on disappearing and despite the great help of another MNer I can not figure out what is wrong

@mogloveseggs have a cheese toastie. They soak everything up.

I've just had an actual one for lunch (with ham is food of the gods @AlCalavicci but we're trying to eat less meat).

I'm glad the kitten bees will be warm enough.
