Morning all.

For the regulars, you know the routine, for anyone new -

Welcome to the Happy Place virtual cafe. The cafe is open every morning for breakfast, there are a number of different seats / tables including some wing back chairs to either side of a log fire.

Dogs and children are welcome although be warned they are sometimes whisked away to see the kitchen.

In the garden there is a sensory area, a cat area with catnip bush, a water feature (feel free to cool your feet) and an area for the kitten bees (tiny kittens, the size of a bee but with wings and the ability to sprout an umbrella from their tails).

Florence is a French pastry Chef who makes the most wonderful bread, cakes and pastries.

Fernando is a cocktail waiter who is also in charge of the huge posh Italian coffee machine.

If you don't like the menu then feel free to cook for yourself or ask one of the regulars.

I feel like now is the time to say that I'm not actually a cat person. I much prefer dogs Blush

Frownette · 14/09/2020 11:28

I like both but more suited personality wise to a cat, if that makes sense?

sashh · 14/09/2020 11:41

@NoGravyForYou

Dogs are good too, they are welcome in the cafe.

I’d love a cat, even to foster but it was heartbreaking letting my boy go a couple of years ago :( he was only 3 and had heart problems, it happened so suddenly, fine first thing in the morning then had to be put to sleep later that same day as he was so poorly and the vets couldn’t do anything else :(
Anyway, I won’t bring the happiness down, let’s get some music on and enjoy this sunshine! :)

sashh · 14/09/2020 12:57

Oh @PinkDaydreams yes I miss Charlie, my old cat, that's why I started to foster, I didn't think I could cope with loosing one again.

Then madam arrived, she had other ideas.

Morning all

I want a polecat now @AlCalavicci but I presume they don't mix well with cats?

I've been awake since 4:30 (peri-meno) but at least I'm not working today. I'm going for a walk by the river with a friend.

I'll join you in the soft fruit and yogurt.

sashh · 15/09/2020 06:23

Morning all.

Great minds think alike I was going to suggest smoothies and fruit water ice as it looks like being another warm day.

Florence has made bagels and french bread overnight so help yourselves.

The takeout will be a flask of smoothie/fruit juice of choice with a bagel, smoked salmon (I'll leave off the cream cheese as it's warm.

Fernando has one of those gleams in his eye so ask for alcohol in your smoothie at your own risk.

NoGravyForYou · 15/09/2020 07:43

Morning everyone,

I don't think I'd risk bringing my two into the cafe. They are lovely dogs and pretty well behaved but I just know for a fact they'd be stealing bacon from the kitchen on the sly!! I'm so glad I fought for them during the break up, ex wanted to rehome them. I can't imagine being without them.
A Smoothie sounds great @sashh though I'll skip the alcohol.
@AlCalavicci I have no idea what a polecat is but they are adorable!!

PinkDaydreams · 15/09/2020 07:59

Morning all!

Your polecat looks lovely, it has a rather mischievous face though Grin

I’ll have some fresh fruit please and I’ll take a smoothie to go, I think I’m going to walk down to the furthest away park with little one this morning. The weather is feeling rather fresh!

AlCalavicci · 15/09/2020 14:33

@MinnieMountain , they will never be a cats best friend but if introduced at a young age they get on fine ( cats just keep out of the way )
Polecats ( and ferrets ) are bit like owning a cross between a cat and a dog ,
They need more attention than a cat but but you don't have the commitment of having to walk them 2x a day like you would with a dog
They are easy to litter train but if you bring them / keep them in the house you need a tray in every room as they can not hold on for any length of time .
They are very playfully and act kitten like untill they are about 4 years old.
You can take them out for walk a but you need to go very carful around dogs .
People will stop you constantly and ask you about them , I have been asked if they are squirrels, meerkats, otters, beavers , dogs , and even a baby sea lion Confused
They need a big hutch mine is 4 ×3 ×3 foot ( this would be considered small ) but they were never locked in it as I have a very secure yard . .
They are the best escape artist in the world ! And finslly they need to be kept in pairs or more , they are very sociable and get stressed and stroppy on there own.

AlCalavicci · 15/09/2020 14:36

Thus is a different one going for walkies Smile

sashh · 16/09/2020 02:09

Morning all.

@AlCalavicci one school I worked in had a pole cat get lost and stuck in a little grass corner, we thought it was wild but maybe it was an escaped pet.

A local wildlife charity picked it up.

Anyway it's another warm night so I'll fill the fridge with fruit, fruit juice, yoghurt and pop some of Florence's ice cream in the freezer along with Fernando's frozen cocktails.

I'm going to sit in the garden and watch for wildlife.

Morning all,

They very good at escaping , if there are any wild ones its likely they are escaped pets and sadly probably won't live very long. Hopefully the one you saw will of been chipped and was returned to it's owner.

Can I have some fruit and yoghurt, I am working from home this afternoon so I will grab one of Fernando's cocktails later.

sashh · 16/09/2020 04:20

NP fruit and yoghurt on the way.

Morning early risers

Polecats sound amazing @AlCalavicci. My DF found a stunned one outside our house once. He made it a nest in the garage with the door open, hoping it would stay. It didn't of course.

It's cooled down a bit here, so I'll add a pastry to the fruit and yoghurt.

Frownette · 16/09/2020 08:19

@AlCalavicci beautiful polecat.

I'll take a pic of ginger marmalade in a bit just for yoooouuuu.

Anyway morning all.

NoGravyForYou · 16/09/2020 09:46

Morning everyone!

It's absolutely glorious here so I will have some ice cream. What flavours do we have? I'm in the mood for some honeycomb or salted caramel if we have some please!

sashh · 16/09/2020 10:24

We have bumble kitten honey comb ice cream, will that do?
