Here we go you lovely lot, Thread 11.

Post some lyrics of a song 70s, 80s, 90s (boundaries may be slightly pushed either way). State the decade & we will try to guess Artist(s) and song.

And yes to Simple Minds

shinynewapple2020 · 08/09/2020 19:08

@OfficiallAnAwardWinningPoster

some songs which start with spoken words (not a lyric, a clue to what's coming).

what we've got here is... failure to communicate...

Some men you just can't reach.
So you get what we had here last week, which is hte way he wants.
Well he gets it.
I don't like it any more than you, man

I thought 80s, google says 90s. Not a genre most of you like, but it fits with my theme (sorry). Bonus point if you get the original source, which I only just discovered tonight and gave me the idea for this theme.

Just what is it that you want to do?
We want to be free. We want to be free to do what we want to do.

90s

You are not a god
Why don't you pull the trigger and find out?

90s (just)

Dearly Beloved
We are gathered here today to get through this thing called life.
Eletcric word, life.

It means forever, and that's a mighty long time

80s (RIP Sad)

Mm--"Is she really going out with him?
"Well, there she is, Let's ask her"
"Betty, is that Jimmy's ring you're wearing?"
"Mm-hm"
"Gee, it must be great riding with him"
"Is he picking you up after school today?"
"Mm-mm"
"By the way, where did you meet him?"

60s

Here you are @FlouncerInDenial

FlouncerInDenial · 08/09/2020 19:17

Thankyou shinynewFlouncer.

Re the jan tack, I couldn't have told you at the time, but I've had some space to sing it to myself since, and I think it's the bitterest pill

So, the first one I didn't really expect you guys to get, because its guns n roses, and I know for most of you, it's not really your bag.
The song is called civil war.
BUT, what I found out on sunday was, that's a quote from the film Cool Hand Luke. Which I hadn't known before, and thought was interesting enough to share.

The third one is bon Jovi and it's the theme from young guns or young guns 2. Is it shot down in a blaze of glory.

You lovely Flouncettes got all the rest

FlouncingBabooshka · 08/09/2020 19:53

Meant to say @FlouncerInDenial - I also saw Fun Lovin Criminals back in the day. My first, but unfortunately not my last, accidental experience of a mosh pit. Very scary...(I’m a wimp)

Honeyroar · 08/09/2020 19:57

I hate mosh pits. One sweaty bloke is bad enough!

CoffeeBeansGalore · 08/09/2020 20:00

Evening all

Sorry, been taxi mum. Just sat down.

Here's some from me

You think you've got it all set up
You think you've got the perfect plan
To charm everyone you see
And playing any game you can
1980s

Night swimming, beach walking
Always silent, never talking
Then you call my name
And I know inside I love you

I hate mosh pits. One sweaty bloke is bad enough!
Are you thinking of one sweaty bloke in particular @Honeyroar? 😂
Honeyroar · 08/09/2020 20:40

Nope all of them. Even Micheal Hutchence would be sent for a shower!

Honeyroar · 08/09/2020 20:41

@flouncesgalore I think your top one is Paul Young. I’m gonna tear your playhouse down.

FlouncerInDenial · 08/09/2020 20:43

Arrrgh! CoffeeFlounce. I deffo know the first one.

Is it paul young??? The song is (I'm gonna) tear your playhouse down

FlouncerInDenial · 08/09/2020 20:44

Bloody bloody honeyflounce

Honeyroar · 08/09/2020 20:45

😘

CoffeeBeansGalore · 08/09/2020 20:46

Correct with Paul Young, I'm gonna tear your playhouse down. Well done 😊👍

Ps. Flouncesgalore is better than coffeeFlounce, so I double hate you.

Honeyroar · 08/09/2020 20:49

When I’m in the shower
I’m afraid wash my hair
Cause I might open my eyes
And find someone standing there
(80s)

Daffodil1967 · 08/09/2020 20:56

Honey roar

Somebody’s watching me
Mathew Wilder

Fleamaker123 · 08/09/2020 21:07

I'll be throwing pebbles up at your window
So make sure that you're ready when I call

83

FlouncerInDenial · 08/09/2020 21:08

I think you're right with the song title, DaffodilFlounce, but matthew wilder was break my stride.

Wasn't it a name like rockwell?

Daffodil1967 · 08/09/2020 21:13

FlouncerinDenial

Yes it was Rockwell wasn’t it. I’m getting confused with “Break my Stride aren’t I. I think Micheal Jackson sang on the record as well.

Daffodil1967 · 08/09/2020 21:15

Oops, sorry you already pointed that out Blush

Fleamaker123 · 08/09/2020 21:27

Mixing my emotions
That throws me back again

90's

CoffeeBeansGalore · 08/09/2020 21:35

More of my outstanding one. My name is a clue.

Night swimming, beach walking
Always silent, never talking
Then you call my name
And I know inside I love you
Sail away, I miss you more
Until you see the shore
There I will be waiting
Anticipating

Each moment is new
Freeze the moment
Each moment is cool
Freeze the moment

Still some of my 90s ones still outstanding so I’ve added more lyrics. I’ve added lots of lyrics, so many lyrics, more lyrics than you could reasonably wish for. Lyrics are added. I wait...

Xxx lingered last in line for brains
And the one she got was sorta rotten and insane
Small things so sad that birds could land
Is xxxx fast asleep or rockin' out with the band?
She's xxxx, she's xxxx
She's in my head
She's xxxx, she's xxxx, she's xxxx
She might be dead

You tell me I'm a real man
And try to look impressed
Not very convincing
But you know I love it
Then we watch TV
Until we fall asleep
Not every exciting

I'm only happy when it's complicated
And though I know you can't appreciate it
I'm xxxxx
You know I love it when the news is bad
Why it feels so good to feel so sad?
I'm xxxxx

Shopping for kicks, got the weekend to get through
She's keeping the rain off her Saturday hairdo
She stops for a coffee, she smiles at the waiter
He winks at his friends and they laugh at her later
He's cleaning his car on his pebble dash driveway
New chamois leather he got for his birthday
He reads Harold Robbins he flirts with his neighbor
Ignores her at breakfast he's reading the paper
He dreams of a roller, she dreams of a fast getaway.
