Sipping a cold diet coke and really enjoying it. I drink a couple per week.

Are you a fan?

I love diet coke, can't stand any other variety of cola product though.

I used to drink a can a day, but stopped on the advice of my dentist as it was contributing to the loss of enamel on my teeth. Now I have one a week as a treat.

DebbieFiderer · 02/09/2020 08:09

I like a diet coke occasionally but generally try to avoid caffeine. But I do have a can of some kind of fruity sugar free soft drink most days, often in the afternoon to stop me feeling hungry and therefore snacking. My favourites at the moment are Vimto and raspberry Fanta.

MajesticWhine · 02/09/2020 08:12

I drink 1 can of Coke Zero every day with my lunch. I love it.

I find it weird that people defend their fizzy drink habit on the grounds that they don't drink tea or coffee! Tea (and coffee in moderation) aren't bad for you. In fact there's evidence that tea is actively good for you. A load of sugar and/or artificial sweeteners on the other hand...

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 02/09/2020 08:33

We keep some 'full fat' Wink in the fridge for migraine postdrome, but otherwise never drink it.
Also don't know anybody of normal weight who drinks diet coke.

HasaDigaEebowai · 02/09/2020 08:36

I drink a couple of cans of lidl's own red bull equivalent for the caffeine. Diet coke doesn't cut it anymore!

Chicchicchicchiclana · 02/09/2020 08:39

Never! detest diet drinks. I probably only drink a fizzy drink a couple of times a year but it would never be the diet version.

PanamaPattie · 02/09/2020 08:45

I drink Pepsi Max Cherry. DH calls it crack as I get very angry when he drinks the last one in the fridge.

sallyshirt · 02/09/2020 08:54

I used to drink diet drinks years ago (mostly Diet Coke) when I was over-weight.
Now I'm slim I don't touch the stuff, makes me feel like I'm drinking poison, I hate the taste of sweeteners.
My kids are obsessed with fat fat coke. I never buy it for the home, but they have it on occasion when we are out.

ClinkyMonkey · 02/09/2020 09:06

I've nothing against diet drinks, but God I hate the taste of artificial sweeteners. Even that Stevia stuff. I can spot them after one sip. They're creeping into all sorts of things now to replace sugar and, honestly, I'd rather take my chances with the 'evil' sugar and just have less of it.

Diet drinks make me thirsty - and hungry!

Time2change2 · 02/09/2020 09:06

Full fat coke is horrible and whenever I have drunk it, it makes my teeth itch! You can literally feel the plaque build up.
Love Diet Coke and have it once or twice a week but try to not have it too much as it’s not great for you

EasilyDeleted · 02/09/2020 09:12

I'm happy with aspartame but can't stand stevia.

DuckingMel · 02/09/2020 09:14

Yes, Stevia is absolutely horrible.

Galvantula · 02/09/2020 09:20

I like a tin of fizzy juice.

Preference for sugar free Irn Bru, Coke Zero or Pepsi Max. Diet Coke tastes too watery to me.

I did have a bit of an excessive habit for a while but have cut back now.

I don't get the sweetener aftertaste too much.

I like having a fizzy drink without adding lots of calories to my day. I do have the odd full sugar one when I fancy it though.

RedRiverShore · 02/09/2020 09:23

Yes, I like Cherry and Raspberry Diet Pepsi but my favourite is ginger Diet Pepsi which seems to be discontinued. Not so keen on plain Diet Coke and Pepsi

RedRiverShore · 02/09/2020 09:25

I think the above are all Pepsi Max rather than Diet Pepsi

iswhois · 02/09/2020 10:16

Yes I get through 6-12 per week, Diet Coke or Fanta zero usually.

I mainly just drink bucket loads of water but like a can of drink with a meal.

AriettyHomily · 02/09/2020 10:18

@AbsentmindedWoman

No I went cold turkey on a low carb diet and can't stand Diet Coke now.

Diet Coke has no carbs though. It won't cause instability in your blood glucose levels.

Oh i know but it was just easier to cut out everything sweet in the beginning.
Sloth66 · 02/09/2020 10:34

Stopped drinking fizzy drinks years ago, I don’t like the long list of ingredients in them, especially the artificial sweeteners

Tea, coffee, herbal teas, water and sometimes nice wine is what I drink now.

imissthesouth · 02/09/2020 10:36

i prefer full fat, the sweeteners are really bad for you

TheDayAfterTomorrow · 02/09/2020 10:37

My mum and sister are diabetic so I've only ever grown up with with diet drinks and love them

JimmyTheBrave · 02/09/2020 10:39

The NHS says otherwise:

www.nhs.uk/live-well/eat-well/are-sweeteners-safe/

Chickenwing · 02/09/2020 10:43

Its 10.43am and I have already had 2 cans of pepsi max. Average about 5 cans a day... is it really that bad? I drink lots of water too...

WingBingo · 02/09/2020 10:45

I used to have a horrendous Diet Coke habit. Several ice cold cans a day, especially with food.

Manage to keep it to an occasional treat these days.

Nothing like an ice cold can to quench your thirst though.

TheNestedIf · 02/09/2020 10:50

I've been getting through quite a lot of Pepsi Max cherry during lockdown because it's been hot. When it gets cooler I'll still drink it but will probably go back to drinking more coffee instead.

I've been drawing an end to my work day on Fridays with a frozen vodka and Pepsi Max Cherry slushie. Marvellous in that 34 degree heat the other week.
