Sipping a cold diet coke and really enjoying it. I drink a couple per week.

Are you a fan?

Coke Zero addict over here Blush
Cut down since I got pregnant, harder than giving up wine!

VashtaNerada · 01/09/2020 23:31

Love Diet Coke! Obviously people are welcome to drink what they like but I do get irritated by those who are judgy over drinking diet drinks. I’m overweight and a Diet Coke can sometimes give me the sweetness I’m craving without the sugar that will eventually kill me. Anything that helps me lose weight slowly and sensibly is good in my book!

Fiddlersgreen · 01/09/2020 23:35

I’m addicted to Diet Coke. I tried cold turkey but had horrendous head aches

I drink too much a lot of diet coke, but recently been suffering a lot with anxiety and sleeping problems. I have been trying to cut down (although I'm swapping for sugar free 7up so not too much of a healthy swap!) And I think it has made a difference. The nhs wellbeing person who i had a phone consultation with, said caffeine can exacerbate anxiety, which i didnt know. I thought it would/could affect sleep but was surprised what he said about anxiety.

I used to have a real Diet Coke habit, up to four cans a day at my worst, but I've not had any for nearly 5 months. I mostly only drink water now.

Pieceofpurplesky · 01/09/2020 23:57

Pepsi.
Caffeine free Diet Pepsi to be precise

drigon · 02/09/2020 00:42

Don't mind Pepsi Max Cherry very occasionally, not really a fizzy drink fan. However, I do like the Lidl's diet fizzy orange; it leaves a bit of a sweetener taste in your mouth, but is refreshing and zingy and helps me stick to my diet. I probably have about 4 glasses of it a week.

drigon · 02/09/2020 00:43

Also find the Pepsi Max very caffeine-ish and best avoided later in the day.

trixiebelden77 · 02/09/2020 01:11

I thoroughly enjoy a Pepsi max.

Cannot understand why people keep saying ‘full fat’ coke. Makes no sense.

lljkk · 02/09/2020 05:57

I prefer hot drinks, tbh, and caffeine has strong effects on me so must limit that strictly. But I really don't like water.

I quite like Diet Dr. Pepper in mornings on very hot mornings instead of tea, & diet Lemonade on hot summer afternoons/eves. Has to be quite hot, though.

DuckingMel · 02/09/2020 06:26

I only drink diet cola or coffee. Have done for more than twenty years. Still have good teeth (dentist said I have exceptionally thick enamel) and my insides are just fine (had recent blood tests and an ultrasound to check for something else).

It's just a universally understood turn of phrase
speakout · 02/09/2020 07:22

Sometimes, maybe two a month.

I prefer plain water as a drink, if I am eating out I may have a fizzy water.

No- and people understand that- it's a bit of a universally understood joke.

ChangeThePassword · 02/09/2020 07:23

No. Rarely drink anything fizzy. Tonic water with my gin and occasionally a sofa water and lime.

EasilyDeleted · 02/09/2020 07:24

I don't think anyone actually thinks there's fat in Coke, it's just an expression.

ChangeThePassword · 02/09/2020 07:24

Sofa water has more flavour than soda water because it has the flavour of everything that collected down the sides and back...

Schmoana · 02/09/2020 07:26

Prefer Pepsi max I find Diet Coke a bit flavourless. Really enjoy a can a day, sometimes two. Prefer cans to plastic bottles.

When I drink full fat coke I can feel a sugary coating on my teeth afterwards which I really don’t like.

FranklyDearIDontRiverdance · 02/09/2020 07:28

I had at least a can a day - I love Diet Coke. I keep it in the garage fridge as opposed to the kitchen fridge so I just can’t mindless grab a can. I have to make a special effort to get one (plus it hides it from the kids 🙂)

byvirtue · 02/09/2020 07:40

No, studies have shown aspartame can stimulate your appetite. The people I know IRL who go on about their love of Diet Coke all have a high BMI.

I can’t remember the last time I drank a fizzy drink, water, tea and wine for me.

motorcyclenumptiness · 02/09/2020 07:49

Love a very occasional diet coke with ice and a slice of lime

DuckingMel · 02/09/2020 07:50

Byvirtue - I don't. I'm a normal weight. And at times I've been very slim. I absolutely love aspartame, sucralose and acesulfame K. I have canderel on my porridge in the morning together with my diet cola. shrug

On the flipside I have heard that a lot of anorexics/former anorexics are addicted to diet coke because it makes them feel full....

DuckingMel · 02/09/2020 07:54

Namechangr9000 - Yes, I've found the same. I'm a recovering ED sufferer.

AuntieMarys · 02/09/2020 08:00

No. I hate all fizzy drinks.
