Sipping a cold diet coke and really enjoying it. I drink a couple per week.

Are you a fan?

I have a Pepsi Max/ Dr Pepper Zero habit. Easily 1-1.5 litres a day. Blush Keep trying to give it up, but I don't drink alcohol, nor do I drink tea and coffee so it's my only vice Grin

Addict here. At least 3 cans a day. I need to sort it though!

gettingusedtothelimelight · 01/09/2020 19:24

Love a daily Pepsi Max can't stand Diet Pepsi, Diet Coke it Coke Zero.

FraughtwithGin · 01/09/2020 19:31

No.
Disgusting stuff.
I like mineral water, coffee, wine, gin and champagne.
Sometimes I will have fruit juice or vegetable juice.
Only exception, which hasn't happened for years, is a very, very cold full-fat coke in a hangover situation.

starskey80 · 01/09/2020 19:32

Also an addict, 3-4 cans a day. I don't drink tea or coffee.
I gave up for awhile and had two solid weeks of headaches. Did well for about a year then started again. Raging.
I know it's not good for me, but there is nothing nicer than an ice cold can from the fridge.

EasilyDeleted · 01/09/2020 19:42

Yes, love a Diet Coke and drink a couple of cans a week. Don't like any other varieties of Coke including regular and Coke Zero, not keen on Pepsi either. No concerns about aspartame here.

whirlwindwallaby · 01/09/2020 19:44

No, I find them too sweet, I'll drink the juice flavoured fizzy water type ones.

megletthesecond · 01/09/2020 19:45

Never touch diet drinks.
Only full sugar maybe once or twice a month.

Beautiful3 · 01/09/2020 19:46

We have a mixture of coke zero, diet coke and pepsi max. Kids prefer coke zero/diet coke and the adults like pepsi max best. We tend to only have it at the weekend unless it's a really hot day.

Oblomov20 · 01/09/2020 19:48

I've always loved Diet Coke. I drink quite a lot of it per month.

CarrieFour · 01/09/2020 19:48

I'm a Coke Zero addict.

It's my #1 favourite drink. I'll happily never have alcohol again. But please don't make me give up Coke Zero!

I do need to stop having it in the house though. As it's very easy not to drink water if I have cold fizzy drinks in the fridge.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 01/09/2020 19:58

Only if I'm having it as a mixer with vodka or something. I never drink anything other than water or tea/coffee usually.

Schmeebles · 01/09/2020 20:01

I did until I briefly worked at CocaCola. Fridges full of the stuff (and all the other stuff they produce) all over the office for people to help themselves, but no one drinking it. When I asked why ...."well, while it doesn't exactly cause cancer, it's sort of the perfect accelerator for it".

No idea if they were telling the truth, deluded, or having me on, but it put me off for life.

Boireannachlaidir · 01/09/2020 20:03

Can't stand em! I hate the fake sugary taste. If I do have a fizzy drink I will choose the non diet version every time. So about twice a year.

BarbedBloom · 01/09/2020 21:36

I have it as a treat as I don't drink alcohol, but can only drink full sugar. Sweetners give me a headache and upset stomach, plus I hate the after taste.

nosswith · 01/09/2020 21:55

Sometimes when out for a meal and not drinking, but never at home.

TheClitterati · 01/09/2020 21:57

Very rarely. I might have 2 San Pellingrinos a year. I don't really like sweet drinks

DeepestDarkestRiver · 01/09/2020 22:04

I used to drink loads of Diet Coke but went off it when I was pregnant with DC2 and never acquired the taste again.

My drink of choice now is Diet 7-Up. Love the stuff, but only in a can, not a bottle or as a fountain drink.

thedaywewillremeber · 01/09/2020 22:05

Usually weekly I’m trying to cut down though as I know even the non sugar ones can damage your teeth.

BogRollBOGOF · 01/09/2020 22:07

I drink full sugar drinks, usually fairly sparingly when out of the house, but they may have contributed to some of the lockdown lard. I enjoyed the sensory feel of it when mind numbingly bored and there was little to do beyond the house. My habits are improving again though.

A French study found the following:

They found that each additional 100ml of any sugary drink a person drank a day increased cancer risk by 18%.

An increase in cancer risk was also found with 100% fruit juices, but not with artificially sweetened drinks.

An 18% increase in risk may sound quite high, but it corresponds to 4 extra cases of cancer per every 1,000 people over a 5-year period.

Link to info here: www.nhs.uk/news/cancer/sugary-drinks-linked-cancer/

I watched a documentary that compared sugary drinks to diet drinks and the general consensus was sugar will have a more detrimental effect than artificial sweeteners. Not sure if any more research has been done since.

AngeloMysterioso · 01/09/2020 23:23

I find it so funny that people refer to non-diet (ie regular) coke as “full fat”. There is no fat in coke. The “diet” stuff is labelled as such due to lower sugar levels. They just chuck a load of artificial sweetener in there instead, which I personally can’t tolerate (and as an aside, f**k you and your sugar tax, Jamie Oliver) so I tend to stick to cherry coke if I can get it, regular coke if not, or appletiser or similar. And once every couple of weeks I’ll schlep to M&S to stock up on lemonade. When I try the diet version of pretty much anything all I can taste is sweetener.

UnfinishedSymphon · 01/09/2020 23:28

Diet Coke fan here, sometimes it's the only thing that will quench my thirst
