Trying to remember the name of a shop really popular in the 90s! It sold items with an African theme, mainly sourced from Africa. Fair trade. Sandstone ornaments that were really popular.

Anyone remember it?

Thank you!

The Pier

minipie · 30/08/2020 16:36

I thought of The Pier but suspect they were more Asian imports.

Not an answer to your question but just remembered another shop that was popular then. It sold things like scarves you’d buy for your grandmother and Celtic inspired brooches. Can’t remember it’s name.

Needcoffeecoffeecoffee · 30/08/2020 17:21

Was it definitely a chain of shops? I remember quite a lot of shops selling things like that but all independent

iklboo · 30/08/2020 17:21

@Davespecifico - was that one Past Times?

SallySolardel · 30/08/2020 17:21

There was one in Nottingham called Evolution

There is still a shop in Canterbury CalleD “siesta” which sells all fair trade stuff
Not sure if it is a chain though but if it is Canterbury you are thinking if it might be that?

Time40 · 30/08/2020 17:47

My first thought was Evolution. I miss it!

Time40 · 30/08/2020 17:48

... and I miss Past Times, too.

PeskyRooks · 30/08/2020 17:49

We had a shop in our town like that in late 80s/early iOS called Natural Selection. Not sure how widespread across the country they were though!
