What are you planning to do the first day your dc are back at school if you're a SAHM?

I've been at home since March as shielded looking after 3 dc (5, 11, 13) and doing my best to home school them whilst studying for a qualification of my own. I don't go back to college until a week after they are all back in school so I have a week to do whatever outside of school run hours. I have a list of household jobs as long as my arm but want to make sure I take some time for myself. The week will fly so I want to mend the most of it. What are your plans?

Clean...I'm only managing the basics right now. I want to deep clean without anyone under my feet. Then I'm going to repaint the house

SistemaAddict · 30/08/2020 14:38

Those two things are on my list too.

Clean. Clean. Then maybe a bit more cleaning.
On Day 2 I'll probably clean.
Then it will be the weekend, so they can make mess again.

Sit and listen to the silence. Although DH is still working from home so that might not work too well.

DrawerOfDoom · 30/08/2020 15:00

Clean. Medical appointments which haven't been possible because I can't take the DC and can't leave them home. Clean. Do some sport. Have a bath. eat some snacks all by myself

SomewhereEast · 30/08/2020 15:21

Deep clean the house
Lunch with DH one day

frustrationcentral · 30/08/2020 15:33

I usually clean, or declutter! However this year I'm starting a job on their first day back so it'll have to wait until my day off

Chipsahoy · 30/08/2020 15:37

Mine went back last Thursday. I have a 2 year old at home but otherwise I felt a bit lost and the house was far too quiet without them.
Hoping to get back into the swing of it all next week with their first almost full week back. But no tots groups to take toddler to it soft play or swimming etc and with weather turning I am starting to worry it will be a very Long autumn and winter!

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 30/08/2020 15:39

I'm dreading it.
My mh is so much worse when I'm alone. I usually manage school days by going to local groups but they are all still closed. :(

peajotter · 30/08/2020 15:40

Mine are back! My best things were the silence, and having a bath on my own.

FedUpofLockdown123 · 30/08/2020 15:42

I clean and sit in silence.

ComDummings · 30/08/2020 15:43

My youngest is starting school, so I’ll be child free during school for the first time ever (she went to nursery obviously but only 2 days a week) I have no idea what I’ll do while they’re at school! I was making job plans but everything got chucked out of the window with the whole coronavirus thing and the last 6 months have been so intense. I think I’ll probably feel totally lost for a while.

LupinsNotLilys · 30/08/2020 15:44

Clean and enjoy being in a clean and tidy house. Albeit for a few hours

I am going to make a nice lunch for myself though the first day they're back and enjoy it in peace (I've 3 dc)

MarshaBradyo · 30/08/2020 15:44

Definitely not clean.

Listen to the silence, hang out with Dh if he’s around. Wonder into the studio and think about doing some work with out interruption finally.

LatteLover12 · 30/08/2020 15:45

Clean! Then enjoy the house remaining clean for a while 6 hours

I'll be having baby number three the following week so it really will be a few days of glorious peace!

vanitythynameisnotwoman · 30/08/2020 15:55

My closest friend is coming to visit (she works 2 days, NHS) and reading this I am even more grateful than I already was. My MH is not great so I will be sooo glad to see her Smile

formerbabe · 30/08/2020 15:55

Dh will still be at home but we will be able to have a conversation in peace with no one eavesdropping!

DominaShantotto · 30/08/2020 15:59

Have a poo in peace without having to keep an ear out for them falling out with each other. Then get back up to speed with my pre-reading for next year at uni (I'm not quite a SAHM but with my timetable next year... may as well be).

Camomila · 30/08/2020 16:09

like every other day...my dissertation. I can't wait until the end of September!
October is going to be so relaxing (baby DS2 will have probably started crawling so maybe not really)

Deelish75 · 30/08/2020 16:10

I normally tidy up after breakfast and peg the washing out when I get in from the school run - I’m actually looking forward to doing that in peace. Then sit down for a cuppa (outside weather permitting) and enjoy the silence.
Also hoping to go for a swim - if I can get a slot. It will be six months since I last swam properly. DD went back to swimming lessons over the summer and I had to get in the pool with her but I looking forward to doing it for myself.

badlydrawnbear · 30/08/2020 16:10

My plans involved lying on the sette under a blanket watching the tv, sitting in silence (except DH will be talking to his colleagues online in his 'home office' in the middle of the house), a bit of tidying up, crying with relief at the fact that the school actually did open (I won't believe it until I have dropped them off). However, my Grandma has become unwell over the weekend and now is at home but can't walk and my aunt and cousin are looking after her but can't WFH from her house due to lack of internet, so I may end up getting a bus, a train and another bus to her house to be with her for a few hours then getting bus/ train/ bus and hoping for no delays to be back in time for the crazy staggered finishing time of school.

GameSetMatch · 30/08/2020 16:21

I’ll still have one at home with me but I plan on actually getting to the bottom of the wash basket!

badlydrawnbear · 30/08/2020 16:22

Oh, I just reread the title. I'm not a SAHM, but I am on annual leave next week.

AlphabetDinosaur · 30/08/2020 16:24

I won't be cleaning! Maybe have a nap, watch some tv and eat some chocolate without having to share.

RedCatBlueCat · 30/08/2020 16:25

I'm team deep clean!
Im also going to apply for a job (that I'll get rejected for as someone else as more recent experience, or I'm over qualified, but yet if I dont apply I definitely wont get it)
