She sounds fab BogRollBOGOF Glad she helped you out. Now stop putting yourself into that situation and don't wear one again. That's an order. And pass some ice cream. 😉
I did brave the supermarket without last night. If somewhere is fairly quiet like the 30s to sit down in McDonalds, that is in my coping zone. At least I'm understanding the combination of triggers and knowing what's a problem rather than it being purely my instinct that I can't stand the things IYSWIM. It's definitely the combination of other factors in the surroundings at play. I think also just being detached from the busyness of life for so long is exacerbating it, and that's from someone who has been out regularly through the last 5 months. I never was great in crowded places (would rather sit in a gently humming country pub than shoulder to shoulder in a city bar type thing) and my general tolerance to that has probably decreased through social distancing and reduced capacities.
It shouldn't matter why I'm not wearing one, but if a twunt did challenge me, I want to be sure of myself that my reasons are solid.
When we were travelling down on holiday, we stopped at an NT property for a couple of hours break. There was a sign at the toilets to wear one, but they were empty, so I thought "fuck that", went in, pissed a load of DEATH (or not
) into the sewerage system, washed hands and came out. On exiting a lady at the door called out "You should put your mask on" I walked past and said "I don't want a panic attack thanks". It turned out she was calling over to her husband at the gents
She appologised saying she wouldn't be so rude to say it to a random person, and I appologised back for taking it personally and we parted amicably in a very civilised way
Such an unMumsNetty ending!
